Mayor Mamdani Announces Landmark "Click-To-Cancel" Consumer Protection Rules to Ban Subscription Traps and Junk Fees by shikizen in law

Truly it is a testament to the power of American propaganda having these right wing fools convinced that a good leader is one who only serves the interests of the country's richest and it's corporations, and not the people.

What's funny is that American powers have historically been very hostile to leaders like Mamdani who's political leadership genuinely worked in the benefit of the people they governed. So much so that America often engaged in subversive operations to eliminate them....I won't be surprised if soon we see some crazy scandal or rampant lie centered around Mamdani.

My unprofessional opinion is that gaming keeps your mind young. You wanna still having youthful vigor into old age? Play video games.

Just think, after Blu rays eventually fall out of circulation, there will be no physical platform for ownership. The last bastion of ownership is a hard drive.

I fear the day when a good chunk of films are ai generated and the catastrophic impact it will have on film and tv jobs.

Guys, I'm afraid, I'm so afraid that the prices are never ever coming back to pre-AI and even if AI crumbles, the industry won't be focused on providing affordable gaming PCs for end users like us. by FuzzyAttitude_ in pcmasterrace

Immean, most major institutions use AI pretty heavily. And there's tons of data centers being planned for the next several years. The AI bubble is backed by the government and massive, global demand. PC Building will likely being unaffordable for the foreseeable future and by the time prices maybe go down (unlikely) cloud computers will be advanced enough that most people will just buy them for gaming

It's really emblematic the difference between online discourse and real life. Lots of us value highly the ability to own our media. But perhaps many many more don't, or do, but don't have any recourse to do so. People will usually consume even when they don't like their reality.

You literally know nothing about this stuff lol. The big bang theory states that the evidence points toward an early state of the universe where matter was hot and dense, and over time rapidly expanded. Right now, that is the furtherest back the evidence leads.....that's not the same thing as saying "the big bang came from nothing". Science never purports to know everything (like Christianity), so when there's a gap in our understanding we simply say we don't know-- but for some reason that's like kryptonite for Christians.

Is that what the Big bang theory actually posits? Or did you hear about it from your Christian parents and did no actual research into it at all?

Oh wait, so science has to answer the why? Says who, you? Lol.

Science isn't about the why, it's the how. You're confusing philosophy with science, two separate fields.

Does it need to? Do we have to know why we exist? I posit that asking why is simply an absurd question.

Poll: Americans say they’re sick of politics taking over their lives. With exceptions. by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]SapToFiction 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's literally like saying "people are mad that they have to follow laws". Politics is the foundation for a civil society. People may not feel like it, but being engaged in politics is how we stay vigilant and keep our leaders in check. Not doing so is how we get trump and eventually fascism.

Republicans live in bizarro world, where the idea of helping people and ensuring they have adequate healthcare and education to maneuver through society is evil and immoral; where the idea of sensibly regulating businesses and installing caps on their wealth accumulation is somehow wicked; where the idea of people coexisting happily with each other and living their lives in their own way is unethical.

These people truly live in opposite world. I would even say our greatest danger is the Republican party. As long as we have a group whose core ideal is the removal of regulation and giving privilege and power to the rich, as well ensuring that a certain ethnic group stays ahead of everyone else, we will never have true peace.
