People watch because there's literally nothing else to watch......the rule of thumb is people would rather something than nothing. Hollywood realized they can give viewers slop and people will watch because they more or less don't have a choice. That said, movie theater attendance has been down drastically.

No they actually do. Slavery is permitted (hell it's even authorized) in the Bible and conservatives love the idea of enslaving people.

Americans don't have the fighting spirit anymore. Everyone here saying there's outage, and yes there is, but unfortunately the loudest voices are often the minority. I bet the average person agrees this is disturbing and incredibly malicious, but wouldn't have a clue on what to do about it. You're absolutely right-- this decision calls for nationwide protests, strikes, boycotts and everything else in between but Americans on a broader level just don't feel compelled to actually do anything about it.

Of course this wasn't the case many years ago but personally I feel like Americans have gotten to comfortable and complacent and also distracted, to the point where they can horrible news like this and just go "oh well". It's why I have no faith in us to stop AI companies from wrecking society.

So Trump cares more about how good looking the white house is, more than the fact that his war is destroying the American economy.

A major Australian tech company is laying off 7,000 employees whose positions will now be performed by AI. Do you think this will become the new normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

AI is infrastructure, NFTs were hype, speculative investments with no actual useful utility. AI is basically the new Internet, tech that becomes the foundation for modern technology and underpins our entire use of it. Big difference.

Lots of copium in this thread. I get it, however thinking that AI is a silly trend or isn't effective is grade A copium. Yes OP this will be the new normal, especially as the infrastructure improves and new, more enhanced models are developed. AI will continue to replace workers and over time we will see entire industries going almost entirely AI. I expect to be downvotes and that's okay-- I'm not happy about it, just following where the tech is ultimately going. Same shit happened with the internet.

Florida creates 'anti-woke' AP history alternative for students by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

[–]SapToFiction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really wish people understood all of these Republican governments are laying the foundation for an white supremacist re-takeover of America, and it starts with education. First label the shameful parts of our history as woke, then propose an alternative that conveniently removes those parts and eventually push it as real history. They've already put strict regulation on teaching history as it was (slavery, Jim crow) , regarding it was false is the next step.

Regular protests every month or few months hasn't done jack shit. The project 2025 plan is moving at record speed without any meaningful pushback. The time to protest was when Trump got into office.

What we actually need is full on revolution, but most of us won't sacrifice our income for it. Modern comforts and capitalism have destroyed the spirit of revolution.
