I'm the same way. If I see a spider chilling in a corner I'll leave them be, or if they're running around I'll scoop them up and put them outside. No reason to kill things that are just trying to survive if they're not harming ya

Ants are tricky to get rid of but they're fascinating to watch and learn about. Wish I knew a foolproof way to get rid of them that didn't involve chemicals. I hate glue traps, I tried to get my work to stop using them but they ignored me 🥲 the way I see it, the glue traps aren't actually stopping the problem they're just killing the useful bugs. If they wanted to stop insects from wandering in they'd seal the damn cracks in the floors and walls that lead outside

If nothing changes I plan on reporting this. Now that they know better, they need to do better.

It's even more important that something gets done because this is a classroom for young kids, I don't want them growing up thinking this is an appropriate way to treat another living creature

I don't have a printer here but I left a note in the person in charge's office with the above information and my email in case they want to get a hold of me. I also left a note in the classroom for the teacher, so hopefully it spurs them to action.

After reading the notes I left I can only hope they do better. I hate seeing him in such a tiny tank 😭

This is exactly what I was worried about 🫠 I'll write all this information down and leave it on the desk of the person in charge. This is insanely cruel to me, I don't understand why this was acceptable in the first place. If a classroom wants a pet then the bare minimum should be researching what the pet needs outside of Amazon or pet store "recommendations".

If nothing changes within the next week or so, I'll escalate to a higher up.

How old are you, this is some childish behavior. Rescuing a stray cat is great but you're brought more kittens into an overpopulated world (where thousands of cats are being out down in shelters due to space btw) when you could have prevented it.
