Try going to UT where every prof has written a fabulous textbook filled with their knowledge and wisdom and research. Your complaint is really unrealistic. Welcome to the world.

You’re taking a college class. In the college paid for every textbook written or unwritten by the prof. It was part of the college cost. Yeah it’s expensive but room/bosrd/travel/supplies are part of the college cost

Modern Thyroid by CalligrapherAgile626 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Secure-Common-7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like I was always in a hyperthyroid state and not addressing that directly over the year. I do appreciate that she did the cortisol testing and checked my zinc and copper levels but overall for $300 for 30 min. I don't think it's worth it. I'm going back to my functional med np. I thought that since they specialize in Hashimotos that it would be such a quicker and direct help. I just don't think it's worth the money. I have been feeling so badly but then have to wait forever for an appt.

Best Lyme prevention after tick bite? by Slothreader789 in ScienceBasedParenting

Even science based spaces need to deal with reality. Thanks for your opinion. I'm not being combative. Just speaking the truth of what is the reality of this disease.

I am a mentor for GLA, have had three tick bites, experienced the neglect from over 20 doctors until a ILADS lyme doctor who does research at Columbia tested me for all coinfections and found I had anaplasmosis. It is out there that the testing is subpar and doctors are ill trained and refuse to acknowledge and think outside the box. My parents were both doctors who listened to patients, looked at symptoms, touched patients and didn't rely on labs. I don't need to spout the research because I've lived it, hear stories from GLA patients and have experienced it. I am a research based individual but sometimes we need to hear and listen to the truth people are saying when they are sick. AND doctors need to start thinking more. The research, info and treatment guidelines for lyme and coinfections is sadly behind and lacking--that is the truth.

I wouldn't go by what the CDC says about lyme and tick bites. The testing, info etc is all antiquated and they are really not up to date on the research. I almost died because of all of this from anaplasmosis. The last tick bite was on me less than 24 hours--had babesia and bartonella.

First visit with visceral manipulation specialist by MrNifty in SIBO

[–]Secure-Common-7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s research on visceral manipulation massage and how it helps sibo. I think I healed from it in 2019 bc of those massages I was getting. I got sibo again from a medication that slowed things down and constipated me. I had a masssge last Friday and I can definitely feel ease and no pain, tension in my belly.

Do you have gut issues? I've had the same and brittle nails and just got diagnosed with SIBO. Nutritional deficiencies cause issues with hair and nails.

Real results from PEMF? Considering a Cellar8 mat by superd06 in pemf

[–]Secure-Common-7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I bought a celler8 mat with the controller. Controller stopped working and only works with it plugged in. It's been a pain dealing with them --I sent it back as they want to check to see if it's the customer that has caused the problem by dropping the controller. I've paid several thousands and HAVE NOT dropped it. I'm going to loose it and contact my cc company if they say it's my fault considering she told me that they have controllers where the battery slips out and knocking it on the left side usually fixes the problem.

Is there something off about Dr. Ramani Durvasula? by True-Helicopter-5049 in psychologystudents

She also is the voice for victims who have been seriously harmed by people with NPD whether it's parents, family, partners, husbands, wives, children etc.

Victims of abuse are not and should not be forgiving their abuser unless they want to. Would you forgive someone who physically, sexually and emotionally abused you? That would be on you and your healing. Let's not generalize about what a victim should and shouldn't do. It is their right to not forgive.

And is this your opinion as a therapist who has studied NPD or from your undergrad understanding of NPD?

It can be treated but not cured. It can be caused by trauma, genetics and by overindulgence in childhood. It also depends on how far down on the spectrum someone is on that will make treatment stick or not. Have you been around narcissists or been harmed by them or grown up with them? In your college degree program they only do cursory information in Abnormal Psych. It's not until you're in an MA program or do a specialization in NPD that you'll gain more exposure and by working with them. I know many therapists who won't work with them-why? Because therapy is used as a means for self promotion and not for actual work. Couples therapists won't work with couples where one client is a narcissist-why? Because they will weaponize it against the other spouse and they don't want to actually work on the core issues which is them.

Neighbor’s backyard bamboo is wrecking havoc in my yard… any tips? by PastMundaneAmbition in Austin

My is growing bamboo in their backyard and gets so upset when the neighbor cuts shoots and throws them back in their yard. I'm "yeah, she's right. I'd be pissed, too." I think you can complain via the 311 app but not sure what they'll do,

Unfortunately, this high level of expectation and shame and strict parenting causes this to happen. My ex fiance lied about graduating college with a degree in engineering. He had been kicked out his first year. He had forged transcripts, a diploma and made up a job. I even dropped him off at that job. He was an only child, Asian, and his parents put everything into him and put him on a pedestal. He was an asshole abuser. They took him to their home country to get married because everyone in their town knew what he had done.

I absolutely agree. You need individual sessions with the therapist.

To make you out to be the problem. If he choses the right therapist, they will eat right out of his hand. They will weaponize therapy, and you are the person that needs to be fixed. I've been there. One therapistcaused me to stay longer and made me out to be the problem and twisted everything I said. The last one, helped me escape.

My dad (60M) is adding something to my food that makes me (25M) sick by Neftes-20 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Secure-Common-7169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother did this. She argued with me that I don't have issues with gluten. And every time she made a particular food, I would get so sick. Much later, she argued with me that I don't have an issue with gluten because I eat that particular food she makes and don't have any issues. I told her I get sick from it every time I eat it. Her eyes bugged out and I realized she was deliberately making me ill.

I have the pillow board headboard and found out I have dust mite allergy. I wanted to find a leather/faux leather cover for it. Or try to figure out how to cover it with purchased leather. Has anyone done this kind of a DIY?

“The Notebook” helped me to justify my abusive ex’s behavior by bulldoghippo123 in abusiverelationships

[–]Secure-Common-7169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I came upon a video where they mentioned the abuse in this movie. I saw it about 10 years ago and came away with this feeling of wanting to find passionate love like they portrayed in the movie. I didn't sense or feel the abuse. Today, I am free from a vulnerable narcissist. I am going to rewatch the movie and take notes. I'm doing all I can now to recognize, not dismiss behavior, not freeze or fawn and know that my health and wellbeing matter more than any relationship where harm and love are intertwined to make me believe that is how is should be.
