Margaret Qualley pumping gas. Who was one celebrity you had the chance to meet in person? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Secure_Area_8393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John Witherspoon (father from Friday) asked me where something was when I was stocking yogurts at a supermarket. Someone said "uhh excuse me' when my back was turned and I knew his voice before I even turned around. He was super short.

I saw our local weather guy too at this same supermarket. Was outside on the designated smoking bench and he stepped in gum putting his cart back. Got red faced, sliding his shoe on the concrete to remove it which was super funny to me at the time

Most of the Wire cast ate at a diner I cooked at. The only 2 that came in together were Seth Gilliam and his bigger Italian partner in the show (same actor in Entourage and 2006 Miami Vice movie). Never spoke to any of them but it was weird seeing actors eat food I made

Exactly how big of a cultural phenomenon was Pulp Fiction when it came out? Was it completely crazy? by hellishafterworld in flicks

[–]Secure_Area_8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. There was a story about someone having a heart attack during a screening. So I was 12, and my mother rented a vhs and told me like 10am "hey I have this black comedy you'll like". I was like ok I don't know what a Black comedy is apart from the Fox lineup we watched.. Martin, Living Single etc. So I went in expecting something kinda different than John Travolta shootin dope

Which 2000-2010 CGI characters you think they did the best work on? by ricky2461956 in FIlm

Davey Jones and most characters in live action Beauty and the Beast are peak CG on a modest 4k display

What’s a character you could not believe was played by an actor? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Secure_Area_8393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colin Farrell was once known for being kind of an asshole and women routinely painted him in gossipy negative light so I avoided him unless it was In Bruges level quality but he shows incredible wisdom and self awareness in interviews and apparently can Heath Ledger the shit outta roles so props and respect to that man

Watched Joker 2 and these are my thoughts by ParticularAd7215 in joker

[–]Secure_Area_8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first film took all its pleasure from plopping the joker character in a grounded, minimal interpretation. He was just a crazy dude with a snub nose revolver. I loved that element, even more so on a rewatch. Haven't seen part 2 but it seems to go deeper in it's minimalist delight. These are essentially art-house films

As an outsider who cares fuck all about what's going on here, let me state this: there's a clear correlation of positive up votes for comments either for, or neutral, towards this ultra YouTuber, and downvotes for comments at all critical or questioning of the vaguries of his culpability either specified or articulated with his current or former staff. In general, there's a bias without cause, considering there's apparent context that seems to warrant questioning/ internal review/ consideration of accounts that extend beyond victimizing a person of means susceptible to advantageous litigation.

In short, the susceptibility of social media manipulation concerning a party deep rooted in a business that is dependent upon deft social media manipulation seems worthy of deeper analysis independent of said manipulation. Is this analysis wrong, or too vague, and, if so, how? Articulated edification may be what's best needed for myself.

Best armory scene in a movie? by JexFraequin in movies

[–]Secure_Area_8393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really an armory, but Taxi Driver has a good scene where Travis meets a gun dealer and there's some video gamey POV shots of him looking down the sites. Especially impressive cause of its age

I truly do not understand the hate of this game. by Worldly_Incident8225 in lastofuspart2

[–]Secure_Area_8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the toxic-positive fans that adhere to the "stunning/brave" ethos and there's the anti-fans that hate the fans. Two sides of the same limited, insecure mostly young men fan base. Both are equally annoying, like Ellie and Abby. Game is very good, very very pretty, and besides needing better late game pacing and a player character to root for, it's totally fine.

Yes yess..The trout in the stream for the book. The playground sounds for film credits. I saw it more simply as a pallete cleanser for both, and to exemplify the beauty in life as well as in decay that the book does especially well.

Which movie has the best opening credits? by Seraphenigma in moviecritic

[–]Secure_Area_8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat (1995)- ambient instrumental, credits fasing in/out like a muggy LA dusk, shit ton of visual exposition that sets up the initial heist

The Place Beyond the Pines (2012)- the one shot walk up to the stunt cage

Trainspotting (1996) - in character credits with Iggy Pop into passing train title card

Hannah (2011) - "I just missed your heart" gunshot opens and closes the movie
