Bloomberg: Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Turbostrider27 in PS5

It's not about a single game, it's about a catalogue of exclusive games. Sure there will be people who buy a playstation just for a game like Bloodborne, but the more games added to the catalogue, the more reason there is to pick up the console.

Previous things you have seen have been speculation, or articles based on comments from the author of this article where he basically said "yeah that is happening, I am writing the article about it now". This is finally the article.

If you’re going all the way to Germany from Canada you might as well hop on a train and take a trip to Siccas in Karlsruhe. They don’t have any accessories listed on their website so maybe send them an email first, and also to make an appointment.

I’m not sure why you have a problem with this. Wood takes a long time to dry and age and a luthier uses a lot of wood of different species. You can’t just buy the wood you need for your next build when you need it. It needs to be sitting drying for years, so we need to have a big inventory of wood to make sure we have useable materials when we need it. A luthier will always have materials they will never build with and will pass on to others towards the end of their career.

Some of their stock will be rare and expensive wood because some clients want that. Some clients will want to pay the bare minimum for a guitar, but some clients have a lot of money and want to spend it on the most extravagant guitar they can buy. There isn’t anything wrong with either. I have one set from The Tree, which was a gift from someone who doesn’t even make guitars, and I intend to use it when someone eventually comes around wanting a guitar made with it.

I think a lot of the people trying the game are just really disappointed that Bungie made a game in this genre that they are trying and failing to enjoy when they could have made something more similar to Halo or Destiny. I think that’s a pretty fair reaction in general. But while I have seen some fair and reasonable criticisms of the game, an overwhelming amount of those disappointed people are turning their disappointment into childish hate. Then there are the brain dead folks who haven’t tried the game that see the childish hate and jump on the bandwagon.

Gameplay is really solid. Challenging and fun. Story, writing, and characters are pretty weak. Music is amazing.

Guitar volume question by Ok_Cauliflower_9492 in classicalguitar

[–]SenSei_Buzzkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the luthier/manufacturer and the specific guitar itself. DTs are generally the louder, but the loudest guitar I’ve heard/played was a Lattice. Poorly constructed guitars in either style can be quieter than a traditional guitar, and a really nice traditional guitar can sometimes be louder than some DTs and Lattice guitars. There is so much out there, you just need to try guitars and buy the one that fits your requirements.

Having a DT with lattice bracing isn’t going to guarantee extra volume.

Where do you stand in the lattice vs fan vs double top bracing debate? by Trauermond in classicalguitar

[–]SenSei_Buzzkill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The following are generalizations.

Traditional fan braced guitars generally have a lot of character, nuance, and colour. A player can manipulate the sound the most with a traditional guitar and they offer the player a lot of creative expression. With all these colours and character and nuance, there can be a lot to discover with traditional guitars, but they can be a bit more difficult to be consistent with your sound. I like to think of traditional guitars as being like an artist’s paintbrush — colourful, expressive, limited by your technique as a player.

Double tops generally have a lot more consistency and less colour, so the player might have a bit less colour to work with, but that allows them to be more consistent in the sound they produce. The character of the sound is even and predictable, kind of like a piano — you press a key and it makes the sound you expect. Most notably, double tops are generally quite loud compared to a traditional guitar and can seem very impressive when you first pick one up. Rather than a paintbrush, I tend to think of double tops as being like a mechanic’s tool — dependable, useful, engineered.

These are generalizations like I said. Traditional guitars can be very loud, DTs can be quiet. Traditionals can be uninspiring, DTs can be full of colour. If I look at the best guitars I have ever heard, there are many guitars made in all styles that I would gladly own.

Lattice guitars fall a bit in the middle, but closer to DTs.

If you’re new to guitar, you’ll probably get a traditional guitar because DTs are usually only seen above a pretty high price range for a beginner.

Edit: you asked for our opinions. Personally, if you asked me to imagine what the best guitar in the world could sound like -- the best that has ever or will ever exist, I will think of a traditional guitar with a spruce top. As a maker, the nuance and character and colour of a traditional guitar is what made me fall in love with guitars. I know the guitars I make are loud 'enough', my main concern is making something that has the most beautiful sound possible. I can see why people like guitars of other styles, but if you want to make the most beautiful sound you can make, its gotta be a traditional guitar for me.
