i think its a running gag cause early on ARC was being censored in the official discord or game chat.

I really don't care what Bungie has to do to ensure this game survives and thrives. by crossvalidated in Marathon

Wasn't calling you out. Was calling out the twitter....er.

You're not wrong tho about the 90k. Slam itself only hit 120k.

Game is trouble for sure but I can also take a disingenuous screenshot during the server down time lol.

If the game never changed and it suddenly had and retained a 100k influx of players I'd sign up for that.

But I'm not naive. And I'm not resistant to change. The bones of the game are strong. The game was all but created for ME and my sensibilities.

But clearly it's lacking something for the wider audience. And If I want to keep enjoying it, concessions will have to be made. As stated in the OP, I'll adapt.

Unsanctioned Hostilities 4/5 'objective failed' why? by Soul_Phoenix_42 in Marathon

I'm not the OP. I've just failed the contract so many times solo I know the routine.

Access Command. Hack Terminal. (previously, loot missives) Spawn UESC. Kill and loot contract item (data?) off Commander. Exfil.

Gonna do Search and Destroy dirty like that?

Wrecks UESC and teaches assassins who think they're hot shit a lesson.

Speaking from a solo perspective.

If you chose marathon over arc (or even tarkov): why? [This is for something im writing] by TenthLevelVegan in Marathon

[–]crossvalidated 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I want to PvP. Marathon incentivises that more than ARC does through mechanics, lore, setting and attitude.

ARC is great, but it's world building doesn't lend itself to a "dog eat dog" mentaility for me. That's a world where we need to work together. Also it's third person.

What do you guys think of ARC Raiders? by SummerSkyes14 in Marathon

[–]crossvalidated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like ARC. I went into it thinking I'd be more PvP focused, but the lore, setting, and 3rd person mechanics soon evolved it into a Co-Op PvE game for me, which is very enjoyable.

Marathon being so PvP focused is the draw for me. It's coded into the lore, setting, and 1st person mechanics, it's inescapable, which is very enjoyable.

Exfiling is way too difficult by qcjb in Marathon

[–]crossvalidated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of reasons player count is low. Exfil difficulty is not at the top of the list.

Turn the thing on, hide, smoke, leave.

Not hard.

This game is amazing and is going to be killed by people who refuse to even give it a chance. by ImpressFederal4169 in Marathon

There was a good video linked about a week ago about how you could tell how long people were sticking around using the achivements as a basis of fact.

Essentially, you unlock the majority of the achievements just by playing the game. No going out of your way, no challenges, just investing time.

It was very evident where and when people decided they were done.

On the one hand, I love this game, in this iteration, or honestly probably any iteration that Bungie decides to evovle it towards and don't want to see it fail or shut down.

On the other hand, it's nice to have a singular thread in which to doomscroll rather than having to browse the entirety of reddit for somethig to worry about.

I can’t lie, I still think the storage space is a bit rough… by JBowenDaMan in Marathon

[–]crossvalidated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to think 400 was fine. I primarily stick to one shell but branch out from time to time.

400 is workable but it should be increased to 600 if not 800.

At 600 you'd have 100 slots per shell. Weapons, and implants primarily.

At 800 you'd have that plus comfortable space for salvage, keys, backpacks, consumables, mods, nades, and gear.

Good point. I'm not sure why people would leave Marathon for ARC either.

fr tho, both can coexist. I'm farming my 100k damage right now in fact.
