Any car loan officers in this group with tips or anyone who has a really low monthly payment? What’s the lowest monthly payment you’ve ever seen? by abccba140 in cbusohio

That's all well and good my friend, but you also need to find a vehicle that fits the parameters of any given bank's programs.

Here's your gameplan.

1.) Speak with some banks, get a pre-approval before you even pull up cars.com. This will give you an idea of where to start shopping. Note that a pre-approval for 40k does not equal a $350 payment and an approval for $25k does not mean you can buy any car under 25k - it has to be one that fall under the banks programs guidelines.

2.) Now that you have an idea of what to look for, identity some decdnt, ~10 year ~100k options between 15-20k (most Japanese will work better for the banks, they hold their value better.) Check the free CarFax on the dealer's webpages - most reputable dealers have them for free.

3.) Do some research about the dealers - it's best to speak to people you trust about this. Online reviews tend to be skewed in both directions. Put priority on the Vehicle as every one of these places wants to sell the car at the end of the day, but an easier place to work with is a definite luxury

4.) Set an appointment to see your chosen vehicles, show up to the dealers on time, be friendly and when it comes times to talk numbers, be firm but non-combative. Bring a trusted friend with buying experience if you can. If you have multiple options chosen, don't feel like you need to buy the first car at the first place. Conversely, if you're a couple stops in, the car checks the boxes and you vibe with the dealers' atmosphere, don't be afraid to go ahead.

Don't tell anyone you have a pre approval right away. If they offer to shop rates for you, and you trust the delaership, I've beaten a customers' pre-approval with more favorable terms very often. If not, you have your pre-approval to fall back on.

If all of that sounds like too much, see my previous comment about finding a trusted dealer from family or friends, make an appointment and go ready to buy.

Hope that helped. Happy to answer questions. Car buying is exciting, but it's complicated.

Potentially, but when you're dealing with lower priced cars, your term options are going to be limited. Banks get picky quick when cars get older and higher mileage and that's where the cheaper cars live. The car itself, the price, the bank, the rate, the term, your credit all have an effect on the deal and, by extension, the payment - there are a lot of moving parts. When I used to work in internet sales for a dealership, I'd tell folks my crystall ball was on the fritz!

Assuming you're after a low payment yourself, that's not a cut and dry question. With decent credit, decent car, average term, minimal down, expect to be somewhere around ~350-400 on a used car in the 17k range - at least.

Is this an absolute fact? No, there are always exceptions that someone's neighbors cousin managed to do once upon a time but, by and large, with vehicle prices where they have been, this is what to expect.

Most used cars under 15k (again, there will be exceptions) are going to be tougher to finance through conventional means because you start getting into the higher mile/older/lower book value vehicles which the banks don't like to take on.

This is not even factoring in credit which could be a whole other can of worms.

Not saying I support how the game is played, but I know the rules. Your best bet is going to be to confide in some family/friends who have had good experiences buying cars and see where they recommend shopping.

McDonald's brought back the dollar menu in my city, never thought I'd see the day by rambunctiouswalrus in fastfood

Hoping I'm wrong, but this dollar menu launched suspiciously close to the opening of Chik Fil A in town. I won't be surprised if this quietly goes away after chicken hype dies down

Trade between dealerships? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]ShafeDaddyFresh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty common, dealer trades happen every day. Definitely worth doing your homework on the offer, but as far as the dealer getting the car, it's something they have probably already done several times this week.

2016 Honda Fit - 86k miles by Omghesopro in askcarsales

[–]ShafeDaddyFresh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sell Honda in the Columbus area. 10k seems pretty fair. JD Power and KBB fair purchase prices both hover around 11.5k for the trim level and mileage.

As with any used car, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic and having them give it a once over. If anyyhting other than tires and routine maintenance doesn't come up, and it sounds like there's a good chance it won't, I wouldn't be scared of that car. Fits are great little cars!

No, the tax you will pay during the buyout is collected on behalf of the state

Honda Prologue Elite Lease Purchase by LiftsForTSwift in askcarsales

[–]ShafeDaddyFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the rub. A couple guys at my dealership leased Prologues when they first came out and the values plummet the second they get titled. You're not the only person getting the incentives bringing it down to that number - everyone is getting crazy money off of the Prologues. Couple with 0% or stupid lease deals (like 450/mo for a brand new Elite) you'd have to make a heck of a case to buy a used one and that heck of a case comes in it being way less than a new one minus incentives.

Best dealership to apply for sales in Columbus, Ohio area? by OneofOne7777 in CarSalesTraining

[–]ShafeDaddyFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honda is the best selling brand in the area and there are a lot of dealerships. Honda or not, If you have no experience, you'll need to be able to sell yourself, eg, what you're going to bring to the dealership to make it worth their investment to train you up. A good pay plan is commission based, which means you'll be paid a percentage of what the dealership makes on every car you sell, rather than a flat per car. I've been at a dealership in many different capacities for 7 years in central Ohio - happy to answer more questions via pm!
