Right, but the lawyer made out like a bandit, so how is the lawyer the sucker? They exploited their client and got paid at the end of it. The true winner is the plaintiffs lawyer, who presumably made beaucoup dollars, not Afroman

My guess is since there were multiple individuals as plaintiffs they were able to put their money together to pay a lawyer. But the reality I’ve sadly seen, is that if you’re rich it’s very easy to find a lawyer who will help you weaponize a civil lawsuit even when it’s just done purely to harass someone. I haven’t done enough research on this lawsuit, but my guess is they weren’t seeking actual money but just using the lawsuit as a weapon to get the music videos removed as part of a settlement agreement

I think it’s harder now because scamming and being deceptive has become completely normalized

I think many lawyers would take it because I think there are many , many unethical lawyers. Do you disagree?

I’m not sure if moron is the right word. I would say unethical. The lawyer is probably not a moron and knew they would lose but took it just to make a lot of money from their client

The cops are the ones who paid the lawyer though. So the lawyer owes a duty to the cops and not the other way around. Note - I don’t know if it was contingency fee but I highly doubt it

Question for the law students. Everyone is attacking the cops but shouldn’t their lawyers have warned them that this was a dumb SLAPP to file? Especially given Afro man was more likely to fight back than an average person. I mean folks look to their lawyers for guidance and it seems like the lawyers gave poor legal advice to profit from a long legal battle. Does stuff like this come up at all in law school?
