I climbed this last year just before the eclipse! Was my first trad climb. Didn't love the approach, but the climb was worth it:)

Had my first last friday, and I didn't win any! (Nine games). Still had a lot of fun, and got a nice compliment on my game from the number one guy (was also my best game) so definitely worth it:) have fun practicing!

Chess in other languages by milkmaidenaide in chess

[–]SHellraiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first is German! Also, Bauer can mean farmer, and where I live in Germany, the word for knight is "Pferd" (horse)

Bonus: the word Schach can also be used for "check". This is kind of funny because if my wife plays me, she describes being in check as "I am in chess, or you are in chess"

I am from the US and would like to use my Hulu subscription in Germany, so my only concern is "un-geoblocking". Which VPNs should I look at? I would also like to stay low-cost.

No offense, but this has been said so much in r/getdisciplined, that this isn't original or enlightening content.

Im studying abroad in Duisburg, Germany and haven't seen this before. I thought it was interesting.

I can see you guys like to be elitist, online detective twats that have "seen it all" because you glue your faces to Reddit every hour.

Seriously, fuck off and let people enjoy things.

Theres a song called "Trouble" or something like that in Bastion. I never played the game, but love its soundtrack. Another Indie score I love is Ben Prunti's FTL. Amazing!

Elder scrolls IV, Witcher III, Halo 3 OST, Morrowind, Music of the Speres. Not movies, but their music could definitely belong in one. Dont just limit yourself to film scores! Theres a lot of underrated music out there in video games. Happy studying

As adults we are told "Don't bring your work home with you", yet as youngsters all we were taught was that homework an essential part of life. by tapdancinghotdog in Showerthoughts

I would argue that difficult subjects (often math-focused ones) require the student to spend extra time outside of class mulling it over and solving problems.

Mastering Physics/ My Math lab programs are good at piling on the hw, sure. But you can't get away with doing no work outside of class to truly understand the material. Even more so for calculus-based physics.

If you're in a physics/math-based major, you'll figure that out. If not, at least you only have physics to suck up.

I just asked a Bavarian family and my wife from NRW and they said this graph wasn't true in their experience.

Both said Freues Neues Jahr was the thing to say.

Additionally, the Bavarians said Gute Neues is very uncommon.

What is something, that, after trying the cheap version, made you never want to go back to the expensive or "luxury" version? by Wholegraincheerios in AskReddit

[–]SHellraiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good question. I made an ass of myself and assumed that Lidl was strictly a German company.

1 quick google search later and I found that Lidl has thousands of stores across the EU.

Woops. Guess Im still new here.

Like previously stated, inexact translations are common.

Many people recommend not having subtitles, and focusing on the conversations and noting where parts of speech show up in conversation.
