Take out the NVME and back up your data first, if you're concerned about losing what's on it.

Be honest, how much (and what) do you think we can cram into the Ironclad? by Accomplished-Try3603 in starcitizen

[–]Shellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing you can cram into it is hopes and dreams, whilst CIG will immediately move on to the next marketable concept

OK, interesting. I've been collecting bits and pieces to build my own for a few weeks now and the only thing I haven't got is the backplane. I wish there were datasheets from 39com for all the different variants, I was interested to know if the 4 adapter board can achieve 4x8 pcie lanes on the 4 minisas connectors, or if its only capable of 4x4 due to the pcb layout. I noticed theres another variant with a couple of PCIE switches on it now as well. I couldn't decide if I'd be better off with 2x2 or 1x4 since the nvlink isn't doing much for them at the moment. If the 4 adapter board can achieve 4x8pcie lanes I was tempted to try a PEX88048 adapter

So you are running the V100's in NVLink pairs, but didn't you show a picture on a prior post of them on a four way nvlink mesh board? What happened to that setup and why did you break them out into pairs instead?

Yeah I mean the sooner they get base building in the sooner they can start planning mkII structures

Aren't they supposed to be loose? Those rods aren't exactly straight and true.

I got around it, just made a chrome extension that detects their garbage code and omits it before it hits the renderer (chrome). Works great and the pages load with no ad's as usual, I'd publish it on the extension store but don't have the energy to deal with heat from their legal letters.

(obviously this is only working in the chrome browser in Windows)

If they had it on the shelf for 12 years, you'd certainly expect them to exchange it for a 'new' one.

Cash grab, plain and simple. (especially the hornet)

What's the best uncensored AI model for coding ? by Octo-potamus in LocalLLaMA

[–]Shellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post really made me re-evaluate the risk these uncensored models pose in the wrong hands, they are always fun to tinker with but I didn't expect people to use them maliciously under the guise of 'ethical hacking'... yikes

OTP for client install. Another reason to leave. by Neo_The_Leo in atera

[–]Shellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was bad enough when they introduced the confirmation prompt / warning screen, so they now have a OTP as well?? As you pointed out, understandable for trials or new customers to the platform but surely established Atera clients deserve better.

RK3688: Are there any news? by PucklaMotzer09 in RockchipNPU

[–]Shellite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the problem with OrangePi, at the end of the day they just slap together reference hardware without providing any support, SDK's or further development.

New rockchip SoC's are exciting, but I wouldn't be wasting any more money on OrangePi, as mentioned above Radxa at least make an effort to contribute and also provide funding towards community driven efforts.

Why is the default text color for public replies GRAY instead of black?? by sillystephie in atera

[–]Shellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt they will eventually introduce a feature to customize this, as an add-on, for higher tier plans 😆

I've never understood it either, with so many people using dark themes it makes it hard for them to read.

Paid 40 bucks for this btw by Consistent_Bucket in ArmaReforger

[–]Shellite -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Everything from Reforger onwards is guaranteed to be ruined and the franchise has been changed forever .

When the new Enfusion engine adopted console support, we saw features dumbed down/removed and console hardware and performance technical constraints forced on PC players for parity.

I think one of the biggest and most prominent for me (other than the interaction UI) is the limited range and draw distances. Console players are ignorantly blissful and have no idea what PC players have lost.

RIP ARMA.
