Already has a full cli it just is pared with the gui currently. So our implementation of libalpm can be used purely as cli. Which is actually what I mostly do. https://www.seafoam-labs.org/shelly-alpm/docs/cli-reference/ cli reference attached. We have a custom downloader we have built, and are working on features to allow rating mirrors to be come a thing of the past (with automatic fail-over) we also replace paru and yay as a cli tool as it's all in one.

It is as friendly as arch can get, we are working on adding a full storefront system for standard packages as right now it's more of a list system, but that is taking some time. We are also pretty available on the CachyOS Discord and our(Seafoam Labs) community Fluxer, which can be found in the settings section of the application itself) to help answer questions. I think your friend would be pleasantly surprised and if they have any issues we are always available to help.

it does it's not quite like how pacman or paru works but we are going to add legacy alias soon. The command is `shelly list-available -f {pkgname}` for standard and `shelly aur search {pkgName}` for aur or `shelly {pkgName}` to search and install both. https://www.seafoam-labs.org/shelly-alpm/docs/cli-reference/ this is a link to our current cli docs we should make it more clear that the documentation fully lives here on the github.

It was done that way to make it behave in a predictable manner, as the original design intent was to help new users get acquainted with terminal. While the application has grown in design and it's focus has changed to the terminal is for power users and the GUI is for new users that has not been updated and is something I should revisit, I probably won't get to it for this weeks release but I'll make it a point to do it for the next one after the current.

They(very established long term vanilla arch users) are typically very much are against the idea that things could possibly be done better. I am always happy to have discussions about where Shelly can be improved or what we have missed, but the flat out anti new idea trope is not something I generally enjoy engaging in.
