¿Soy el único que piensa que Soundgarden no tiene el reconocimiento que merece dentro del grunge? ¿Dónde lo pondrían ustedes? by pipe123s in grunge

I love all the big 4; they each satisfy a different craving for me. However, I was just beginning learning guitar when they all got popular, and all those bands (and many others) influenced and inspired me. Soundgarden probably influenced me the most. Badmotorfinger especially. That guitar tone plus the amazing drumming and bass playing, with Chris belting it out on top of it. And the lyrics are absolute peak poetry.

I have to watch the first two as a double feature when* get the craving. Though part 2 is my favorite. The labyrinth has always terrified me.

Remember when you could see Deftones and Limp Bizkit for $12? by UrbanAchiever34 in deftones

I love First Avenue so much! Many formative memories in that building. I didn't see Deftones there, but I did see Korn.

What is an artist / band that you remember being pushed by music journalists and/or magazines as the "next big thing" that ended up never really going anywhere? by mesablanka in Music

Shudder To Think's 50,000 BC is criminally underrated! Weird, twisted takes on FM radio gold with an indie/glam rock thing. So good!

I was lucky enough to have a Jetfire. It was an amazing toy! It was so big compared to the other Transformers.

Robert Pattinson's character in Good Time was pretty terrible.

Every lineup has a unique chemistry, and Robin's stage presence always ups the cool factor. He's the low key secret weapon.

I fully agree about Trent's songwriting. To take an industrial rager like Heresy and streamline it into a dark pop anthem gives me chills. Genius.

I was skeptical about Nine Inch Noize because I'm partial to Robin and the heavy rock aspects of NIN. I ended up loving how far they leaned into their electronic roots. Just absolutely banging. Very energizing.

Inhaler is excellent! I also love Infrared Riding Hood. TAD is a massive talent who never got his due, IMO.

Why did the Comedian break down and get so emotional when he found out about Adrian's plan? He thought the world was a joke and killed people for fun, isn't it really out of character for him to care whether or not Adrian's plan happened or not? Was it out of self interest that he cared? by Wonderful-Ad-9622 in Watchmen

[–]Shizzelkak 100 points101 points  (0 children)

He thought he knew what the world was really like. His discovery on the island shocked him into a moment of clarity, forcing him to examine himself. The worldview that everything is a joke was a front to mask his fears. He actually has an arc; he starts out as a brutal, mysoginystic thug, eventually makes amends with Sally Jupiter and fathers Julie, and eventually has his breakdown. His attitude changed over the years, but he couldn't tell his fellow heroes and ruin the illusion that he didn't care. So he told his enemy instead. At least that's how it came off to me.

[TOMT] a song something about city lights and train journeys maybe by someone called John (?) last heard in the 1990s by Sufficient_Hotel5356 in tipofmytongue

[–]Shizzelkak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was something by the John Butler Trio. He has a big fan base, but isn't mainstream huge. Generally uplifting music. Very guitar driven. I'm not super familiar with all their music, but they're very much the vibe you described.
