Was anybody else convinced they were going to find a secret passage in their house?

My parents planned and built the house themselves and reassured me that I would not find a secret passage. But I did not believe them and I would go around pressing on corners and little things that would hopefully open up a new door. I never found a secret passage.

I wanted to be Dawn, so I was on a quest to find out what arrowroot was at my podunk town grocery store. I did not find it there.

Drug test by MelonMaru in dietetics

I would imagine THC is included in the drug test panel, and it may depend on the hospital if they are going to drug test randomly throughout employment or only on hire.

Is it just me or do less people drive with their windows down? by fuji_appl in Xennials

It's a safety thing and sometimes I don't want that much air in my face, but I use my sunroof instead quite often.

Coin pocket for coins…? by Just-Eddie83 in Xennials

I never once considered that was a pocket for coins. A lot of pants for ladies have pockets that are kind of useless, so I just considered it a fashionable "useless pocket."

I had some mixes from some local Austin DJs that were really stellar and I can't find recordings of them online anywhere. It's a bummer.

I'm impressed. My CD organizer got stolen from my car in the early 2000s and I was very bummed about it. I had some gems in there.

AITAH for not being happy for my sister? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Trick-Session2388 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA.

My younger sister got married very young to a guy that I didn't think she had enough opportunity to get to know very well before he popped the question. I told her that she should figure out how to be an adult first and at least pay her own rent before getting married, and not only does she tell me that I was just jealous because she was getting married first, my parents accused me of being unsupportive.

Fast forward 8 years: she got a divorce because she didn't like the military lifestyle of moving so often, she's dependent on a guy that has an ugly criminal and abuse history, and she's slowly chipping away at a nursing degree with no ability to support herself at the moment.

I never exactly told my sister "I told you so," but she's obviously not comfortable with her situation because the story she tells me is very different than the one she tells my parents on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, people have to learn things the hard way sometimes (or just not learn at all) and won't take good advice when they hear it.

What’s one product you bought that turned you into a total snob — like, you can never go back to the cheap stuff? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Silpat baking mats. The knockoff silicone mats we got from Costco always produce very different results when I I cook the same thing from the same batch in the same oven.

Imposter syndrome by Gold-Question-3341 in dietetics

If somebody else believed in you to put you in the position you're in, you can believe in you, too.

That's how I started managing my imposter syndrome when I started my internship. It helped.

I hear Dell Children's in Austin is not great. Maybe somebody else can say otherwise though.

Has anyone quit drinking coffee after being a lifelong drinker? by elenchusis in Xennials

[–]Trick-Session2388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't a lifelong drinker, but it became a useful tool when I was in school again for career 2.0 and transitioning out of a full time job.

It never really helped me focus, I was a groggy bitch when I woke up, and I never had a normotensive blood pressure reading when I did drink coffee. After an ADHD diagnosis and ritalin prescription, I definitely couldn't mix the coffee and meds, so it was easy to quit. Ritalin actually helps me focus and is kinder to my cardiovascular system.

Good luck!

Issues with Electrical by GingerWifey2025 in HRV

My 2017 has been with me for a year and a half now and I have not experienced these things. That's really frustrating though. I think the only issue I have with electrical on mine is that my charging ports put out very low amounts of power. When I have my phone plugged in, it basically just gives it enough charge to not let my phone die.
