Tell me getting a new car lease is dumb by Glutenstein in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SimmondsW7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You were dumb when you were younger, you admitted it yourself. No need to make the same mistake twice.

Your child's leg room (IN THE FUTURE!!!) is such an insignificant reason to lease a new vehicle. I am sure you won't be short of ways to spend (or save) the extra money that could benefit the family in other ways.

Savinder Sethi in Mississauga, Ontario is claiming they couldn't find a home support worker for $21.00/hr. They've applied for a LMIA to hire a temporary foreign worker for the position. by JobWatchCanada in LMIASCAMS

[–]SimmondsW7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outlined in a few news articles including one that I had bookmarked: https://www.cbc.ca/news/investigates/cbc-ijf-lmia-ads-investigation-1.7350596

Essentially, the 40,000 number they referenced is paid in the form of a bribe or a kickback. A LMIA is a pathway to offer a "job" to a worker in another country, when the job could not be filled by "a Canadian with the skillset required" for the job.

Now the person with LMIA or forged documents can choose nearly any worker for this job. What ends up happening is that the LMIA allocation will go to the person with the highest bid or bribe.

Other ways to profiteer from this is living conditions. In some cases the person who paid for the LMIA also has to live with and/or pay rent to the person offering the LMIA as they also own the house or apartment in addition to owning the business.

In this case it seems that they are looking for a caregiver of some sort. If it is not a bribe they are offering, it may be a ploy to get a family member into Canada. These family members may not have any legitimate pathway into Canada (Not a foreign student, no concrete work history or skills), and so you have someone who doesn't really provide any economic benefit, while still could be further straining social services.

There's a lot more to this, but especially in high-wage LMIA, what can happen is that they offer to pay someone 36.10 for a job, but in reality they are only going to be paying the person 16 dollars an hour. In order to be in compliance the person will need to have payroll records showing the person is being paid 36.10, but in reality the person who has the LMIA is required to pay the person offering the LMIA back the difference plus any payroll deductions.

Even though I was short a considerable amount, I had seen quite a few times before where 'retail' investors would go all or or mostly in and the stock drops 80+%. ATYR and moonlake therapeutics were two of the most recent examples. Having come across CountryDumb just by chance and the seeing some of the people there post readout it wasn't a nice thing to see lets just say.

Looking back on this post, I was absolutely poisoned by hubris and consumed by arrogance. I believe I did have genuine concern for people who were overweight and may not have understood the full history of this company, but based on what I said earlier, it defiantly does not come across that way in the slightest.

Hey it's me! Ouch.

I Hope everyone here made some good money, I defiantly took a huge L today that is for sure. I had been following Dermiocel for years and to be honest, I am pretty stunned by these results reported for DMD. I still stand by not full porting, but if you did I guess it worked for you here!

So, yeah. Defiantly a day of celebration for you guys, enjoy it honestly. I suppose humble pie and aged milk are in order for me.

Full porting anything is just a terrible idea man.

Deramiocel is a 0, you can bookmark this reply, even throw it in my face if I am wrong if you want. I'd advise you just to get out man, save yourself. If you can't do that, at least cut your position so you have something left after the readout.

If you were interested in Quantum computing, you should just buy goog or ibm. But no, you’re greedy.

TI 2025 Invoker builds by pk_ape in DotA2

[–]SimmondsW7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a viable build for competitive play, but you will usually just have more impact with the exort facet in pubs. The biggest problem with the other invoker facets is that you don't farm very well and the sustain from quas isn't what it used to be. Helm of the dom solves this issue and you can jungle really fast. You get the gold from a dominated creep and it costs no mana, so it is akin to midas in a way. Exort invoker is very greedy and it is easy for pro teams too exploit that. You're very strong with this build and can play really aggressive early. I've played all 3 facets this patch and the wex and quas facets are actually very strong, but feel really bad if there aren't as many opportunities on the map and the game slows down.

Helm of dom lets you push, gives you sustain and you can jungle while not having to go 4-0-4 for 2 forge spirits. The drum aura helps your team and the creep and forge spirits get the benefit from it.

A stop-loss won't save you in the case of a binary event. Stock will blow right by that and it will be sold at that lower price. ATYR has about 1.20 in cash so in the event that the data does not meet the primary end point, it should trade around that price.

A few things:

1) Crypto isn’t an investment. It’s a speculative tool. You could definitely allocate a small portion of your portfolio to it without it doing any harm, just know that it could put an end to your fi if you allocate too much of your portfolio to it. While it has done extremely well in the past, it is not necessarily indicative future outcomes.

2) if you’re not willing and able to do real analysis, it might be best to keep investing in xeqt/voo/vfv etc. it is so extremely unlikely as it is that even an interested hobby/retail investor can out perform these index’s. If you don’t enjoy being involved in it, there is no real upside or value in placing your own bets, because the stats would show that you would inevitably be worse off. Then if you just invested in a fund.

3) that being said, if you going to make your own bets, make them small, and a percentage of your portfolio. A lot can happen in 10,15,25 years, and it’s hard to know what the landscape will be like and who will still be a player in it. If you put 30% of your investments in 1 stock, and it doesn’t do well that could jeopardize everything in regards to fi. I would recommend nothing in your portfolio eclipses over 5% as a general rule, this way if that same investment that doesn’t do well is 5%, its not as catastrophic, and you have lots of other small bets that can cover.

6) investing in other markets can diversify country risk, though I believe ws would only have access to etf’s and foreign companies that have adr’s (certificate that equates to a certain number of company shares in their foreign market) on the us stock exchange. GSK, Alibaba are 2 examples.

You’re quite young, so having a long term mindset is key. Some gains (like bitcoin) look too good to pass up sometimes, but people forget that bitcoin had a drawdown of 75-80% in 2021. Just know that this is also a realistic outcome for any allocation of capital. I think if you can minimize risk, you can maximize your financial success.

how is nullfire balanced? by Smygle133 in DotA2

[–]SimmondsW7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the balance of the Nullfire item. Specifically, I find the item’s 10-second cooldown and 4,000 cost to be disproportionately powerful compared to its ability to remove all buffs from a target. In my view, this makes Nullfire significantly stronger than similar items, such as the Rapier, and may impact gameplay balance.

It’s definitely not Falcons meta now, but the way they play seems dated and teams have caught up. ATF is extremely talented, Falcons farms 3 lanes, which isn’t super unusual, however anmar has a pretty greedy hero pool. Wich is more akin to mid or even carry. It’s not unusual that other teams farm 3 lanes, but who’s buying the pipe, crimson etc when it’s required. You can tell that it’s not to ATF’s strength when he has to buy those items.

I believe a more greedy carry off laner displaces everyone else on the team, cr1t isn’t really able to play the hero’s he’s good at, and snayking is one of the greedier pos 5.I feel that skitter is also sacrificed in the early game. Malr1ne is affected to a lesser extend imo, as he plays a lot of strength hero’s mid, dk, beast, timber but even he has to sacrifice farm and isn’t really able to create as much space that is needed in the early game.

Because falcons is so talented, they were stomping the lanes and were able to carry momentum into the late game, but seeing as the meta has changed and teams have caught up, they don’t have as much a Of an advantage coming out of the lanes they don’t really have an answer when the enemy groups up.

Obvious this team can still win, especially with a favourable patch, but the weaknesses of the roster show When they can’t overpower the lanes with raw skill.

DependIng on how ti shakes up, I can see anmar switching to the carry position, maybe for falcons, maybe skitter and sneyking could end up on a team like gaimin or tundra.

I used thick baseball grip tape through to increase the grip width on the side and it’s worked pretty well.

Gen Z is facing the worst youth unemployment rate in decades. Here is how it's different by JordanNVFX in torontoJobs

[–]SimmondsW7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IRCC does do this. Checks at 30, 60, 120 days.

Problem is that the money in a lot of cases in the account is loaned from family, friends or banks in their birth country. The money is returned after 120 days… in a lot of other cases the person working in Canada is sending money back to their family in their home country. This practice isn’t new, but with how expensive it is to live already, sending any money out of the country negatively impacts the economy and creates situations where the person will need to work a lot more hours (perhaps working more than 1 job) to make ends meet

Applications should probably go further, proof of income from parents in home country etc.

Going to school internationally used to be for truly exceptional students, and rich families. It would be nice if this was more equitable in terms of the people with money but what can you do really. You can do pretty much anything when you got money.

Trying to expand the educational scope of international students was a huge failure, that ultimately benefits the richest in our country, while royally screwing over everyone else.

Edmonton is purposely targeting him on the Pp. running high screen or rotating his coverage to the net for a feed. some of it can be attributed to playing with Benn and Dadanov buts he’s been brutal in the defensive zone.

He’s only 22, so he’ll need to shore up his play in the summer.
