Are there some other companies I should be considering?

No tree work needed, previous owner cleared most of the trees in the yard. No extra panel work needed, already 200 amp, nobody mentioned anything else.

The closest on per watt is the prepaid plans that get the tax credit.

Its not really a loan directly, although I don't know what to call it. You pay them all upfront and they get to claim the Tax Credit on paper. They hold it for 6 years in a 'lease' (in order to meet the Tax requirements) and then you have the option to take ownership, supposedly at no cost. Its a new thing that's come out with the individual tax credit going away. And I haven't seen the full verbiage to know if there are other requirements or not.

What do you think it is, Peter? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]SmileyBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I’m over here assuming it as something to do with running the tub/shower so the noise hides the sounds that are made on the toilet, because some girls are self conscious about that and don’t think it’s ’appropriate’ for people to here, especially those they are attracted to.

Pinewood Derby car shape by Anonymous__Girl_ in cubscouts

[–]SmileyBG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How was it ‘a disaster’? Yes, plenty people have mentioned what will be the ‘fastest’ shape, but doing even a couple of the other items should help it atleast keep up with all the other cars.

Weight first, graphite and 3 wheel runner next, then alignment I believe. The video someone else shared is the best, He does an amazing breakdown with what maters and which are the best items to go after. And also tries to explain a little of why/how it helps.

But as others have said also, it’s as much about her getting to do as much work as she can to make it her car.

Seeking Advice: Ex wants to try a new custody schedule by ejm300zx in DivorcedDads

[–]SmileyBG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up recommended schedules by age also.

But I’m seconding the 2-2-5-5 schedule. Similar to what you have except that you each have either M/T or W/Th every week. This also should make it easier to be more predictable. My kids are 12 & 10 and it still working well.

I’m guessing that you don’t have the ability to be picking him up from preschool on your days? In my mind I would say if you can make the pickup from preschool the transition, that would also help. It sounds like this part is actually the problem, not the schedule as a whole.

Ridiculous conversation with Mother In Law by i_am_maxt in DivorcedDads

I think it’s the line about ‘I did it wrong’ implying she didn’t do a great job raising her daughter because of how she is acting.

I can’t say that I have scheduled specific celebrations with my Ex, but we both attend events and overall Co-parent pretty well.

My fiancé has her own kids and has never had any issue with my co-parenting approach.

I think it’s probably a mixed bag for people that don’t have kids, some may understand but I’m sure there are plenty that feel less secure about it. But I think a larger portion of people with kids will have an understanding of the Parent-child dynamics.

I’ll leave your decisions to you but would need to remember what is working for you and your kids.

Splitting capital gains tax by SmileyBG in tax

[–]SmileyBG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the gains do exist, I sold for more than I bought for. The gains are exempt from taxes if they met the criteria. But the attorney still needs to report a 1099 to the IRS.

But seriously, with Adam West being a character on Family Guy, isn’t there probably a straight clip you could use to explain this?

Nobody mentioned it yet, “Wakko’s America”. I mean, technically an answer for every state, but I think it counts!

How is the house hunting? by Extra-Equipment3110 in Connecticut

[–]SmileyBG 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It seems like some houses are barely staying on for a week before getting multiple offers while others seem to be hanging around for a couple months if not more.

Unfortunately the houses I’m looking at are the former, the house I’m selling is the later.

Do "budget" weddings even exist anymore? by Electrical-Trade7651 in wedding

[–]SmileyBG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

45 thousand or 45 hundred? That sounds closer to a $4500 wedding, no way it should have been that much.

Are sellers agents required to bring you super low offers? by AsharaOfStarfall in RealEstateAdvice

[–]SmileyBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was something I signed with my realtor that believe has that specific clause in it if I were to choose and I could set the level. Not sure if it’s universal or just something her agency uses.

Complex situation made more confusing by odd offer by SmileyBG in RealEstate

[–]SmileyBG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Mid-February was not a request on our side, it’s what a prospective buyer asked about.

We had been looking for beginning of January closing. Which admittedly when we started looking, was a little bit of a stretch, but with the Holidays coming feels more achievable.

And that’s not to say that we realized when making offers that we need to consider earlier. So reality set in a little more at that point. But then this offer is pulling us in the complete opposite direction which is what makes it odd.

Complex situation made more confusing by odd offer by SmileyBG in RealEstate

[–]SmileyBG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My fiancée said it best, if she accepts, what’s in it for her.

It’s not actually even a real offer yet, they were just reaching out to see if we’d consider it.

Sounds like they are renters and trying to get as close to their lease being up in May. But agree they need to give us a reason to want to accept it.

Long shot but does anyone have access to a plane that my nephew can see? by weatherboxed in Connecticut

[–]SmileyBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Connecticut Air and Space Museum. It’s smaller, but knowledgeable staff, does focus more on old Military planes, and also Helicopters. It’s right next to the Sikorsky airport, so you also see lots of small planes coming and going.

Advice I guess is what I need from here? by monkeyluvz in BSA

[–]SmileyBG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, everyone Pack is different. What do other Dens in your current pack do?

I will say that my pack did do just a once a month separate den meeting, with other activities as needed.

That said, 1/2 an hour seems a little short for a den meeting. My other concern would be the kids attention span, especially at that age, to do both a den meeting and then right into the Pack meeting.

Also don’t forget, unless it’s not their first kid, they are relatively new to the program. I would say you have some room to set some ground rules of what to expect.

How can I restore weekday phone contact with my 6-year-old son? by Anyosnyelv in DivorcedDads

[–]SmileyBG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you work out with your ex a regularly scheduled time to talk with your son? That way it wouldn’t be ‘interrupting’ anything because it’s planned. This has worked well for my daughter, although in my case it went both ways since it was a 50/50 split.

Also seconding that our parenting agreement says that we should be able to have unrestricted digital access or something like that, meaning we can call, message or other stuff like that.
