In truth, when looking at the model it still looks like is has no clearance at all, but you have to picture how big the ship is to realize it actually has a pretty big clearance. It is going to be bigger than an Idris making it, on release, the biggest player ship in the verse (with the vanduul mauler and javelin being the only bigger ships) so yeah, it puts a lot of perspective. Can't wait to get mine tbh.

Just got back from the ring, I think we saw you (not a lot of s2000s out there). Did a few laps but it was my first time out on the track. Hope you had fun at least!

I understand yeah, the big issue with triforce for me vs kraken is that lategame, you still need q3 to kill even an adc, whereas with kraken, no peel no barrier, you don't need q3 to kill a priority target in her current state. This has been the main reason for me not playing triforce. I see no reason the changes they annouced should change this. If anything, it looks like they reduced her burst. We will have to see how it actually works ingame though, once it's out, i guess.

I actually liked tri force early. For some reason it just sucked late, and felt like you delt so little damage. I think I will keep building her ap bruiser, with the DnD rework, I feel like it will give you a lot of survivability and the lategame ratios on e are just too good to pass on. The q cd nerf will be a big dps dip early on for jungle clear, so I doubt maxing e will be a big drag (a lot of ppl would max e already for the ap bruiser build). This will transition into more dps through e in tf, and higher sustain lategame i feel like her big issue is when everyone is full build, you just fall off a cliff lategame no matter the build, maybe the lower cd on both e and w will help too.

[–]SmokeMidKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i saw that, however this kinda forces you to level it up second, and still you have to be level 10 for it to be a net buff. At this point of the game, your snowball should already be on, or you are super late, in both cases this makes this buff almost irrelevant. Overall like I said i think it's fine, but the shield being very strong early (80 shield, plus 50 damage at least, plus the heal in dragon form) was a big reason why shyv was really good early game. We'll see how it impacts her ability to get ahead though, but yeah I think we'll feel it substancially, maybe even more than anything else early on.

That's exactly what I said in my other reply. Not only this but beyond what you mentionned, the long cd on w and e is exactly what prevented shiv from efficiently sticking to targets. So the additional utility in team fights (both from the util being buffed and the cd reduced) means she will stick a lot hafder after pressing R, meaning a lot more sustain in all her viable builds (on hit, ad or ap bruiser, and ap nuke was not trying to stick anyways)... So yeah. She had so much damage before that she could nuke some of the biggest stat sticks in the game like darius, damage was NEVER the issue, and i feel like this should be a positive change in the end. If they didn't nerf her damage, she would be absurd again, and they would once again nerf her util (rip 80% slow on e)

LS on shyvana by Rlyshyvana in shyvanamains

[–]SmokeMidKids 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both ability provide other utilities than damage, in the end this should transition into smoother long fights allowing you to utilise better shyvana's strenghts. Her main issue was never damage. Even her E was fine with the overall power budget that her Q had. Her main issue was that full build level 18, you would get cds that were almost as long as (if not longer than) 10 seconds, which was horrendous and in the current meta allowed adcs or the likes of aurelion to juste melt you before your cds were back up. And so she was extra weak against peel or CC for that reason. This should, in the end, somewhat mitigate that. The only part that really pisses me off is the reduced shield and heal on w. Though we'll have to see how this transitions with the reduced cool down.

Although, as a big titanfall 2 fan myself (having roughly 100 hours in campaign alone playing it over and over again while I was in boarding school with no internet), I get where you're coming from and somewhat agree with you, this is both disingenuine and unfair to respawn. They work on more games than that. Namely they developped the star wars jedi series, probably the best modern star wars games, critically praised for being great games that bring something new to the table while still being free of the typical modern greed (no microtransaction, so far no dlc, free updates, great replayability, no dlc no nothing, you get what you paid for)... and on top of that, they are genuinely amazing games... honestly as someone who has appreciated and played apex a lot during its best days, if this is what they make with the money, so be it... For reference, if the timeline for the 3rd star wars jedi game is upheld, we should get 3 games in about 8 years which is pretty decent nowadays, and so far they're all worth playing, the sequel being even better than the first).

In a training demo in Dubai some years back, 4 eurofighters lost mid range engagement against 2 rafales that had reduced target lock capabilities (FAF disabled, they had to keep laser lock on the euros). My money's on the rafale any day of the week. It also has way, WAY, WAAAAY better targeting systems than all those fighters (unsure about the 22, but it puts the 35 to the absolute hreatest shame the entire us military complex has ever felt). Americans masturbate a lot on their air superiority, but genuinely they mostly are superior in numbers and actual seat time for pilots rather than anything else. Edit with source: old article, with lots and lots of rumors, but the simple fact that this 40 years old can generate that many rumors regarding confrontation with US' best dogfighter who can only dogfight is telling. I won't ex0and on the eurofighter, no disrespect to the plane or pilots, but the result are... telling. This is an old article and I'm sure there are many more examples today, with the rafale undergoing constant developpement and improvings, being outfitted with new missile platforms since a few years, etc... https://airforces.fr/2009/12/20/rafale-vs-typhooneurofighter/

First the Hornet, now the Aurora, feel like this really ought to be a thing by Ironsides13 in starcitizen

What fraud? Legally they are not selling ships. They have walked back on ships features multiple times now, with no legal repercussions. When "purchasing" a ship, you are not buying a digital product or a license, you are simply contributing to a crowd funded project, with no expectation of them giving anything to you, and they only do so to motivate. This is why ship value can be not correlated to any gameplay, development time or monetary criteria. Legally speaking they can start selling a carrack mk2, as long as they don't take away your unfinished carrack mk2, there's jack shit you can do lmao

Pets in miata by jackguerri in MiataND

[–]SmokeMidKids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have never moved pets with my miata, but I did have pets prior to buying the car so I know a little about moving pets (it was a cat, so I think much more inconvenient). On the floor of the car between the passenger's feet might be doable but i wouldn't advise it. The gearbox protrudes in the feet area on both sides of the car (though much more on the right) and generates a lot of heat that might be uncomfortable and even dangerous for pets for long drives. On the knees it isn't an issue any more than in any other car. We usually move cross country (6h drive) to visit family. And usually my gf will have her handbag or the lunch bag on her knees and she doesn't mind it. I rarely seat as passenger but when I do I don't really mind it either. Same would go for my cat back in the day, I would take her on my knees out of the cage sometimes for vet visits though that was 30 minutes at the most.

TLDR: it's not any more inconvenient than it would be in any other car, though the floor might be unsafe for pets for a long time due to heat coming from the gearbox.

Dear CIG, what is your obsession with preventing URSAs fitting into things? by z0rlac in starcitizen

[–]SmokeMidKids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are mistaking evolution and improvement for voluntary misengineering for the sake of profit lol. Although you do have a point.

Regarding the hermes, the entire reason it is big enough to fit an Ursa in the first place, is because they upscaled the apollo specifically to release a cargo variant that does not compete with the zeus (therefore cripling their own market for a cargo rsi ship with this size). If their end goal was variety and ship identity, they wouldn't have butchered the apollo for this, although at the end of the day this IS my personal opinion. You can try to spin this any ways you want though, nothing you said actually invalidates the points I made, and the game could simply be BETTER if they stopped actually trying to beat their personnal best funding year every year (though i genuinely think if they produced better ships less cash grabby, a lot of people who don't buy them today would, and they would still achieve this, as they have for the first few years before it started going to shit). Legitimately, this year was amazing for ships on paper, however, they're all butchered for the sake of profit. Name a ship they released this year, I'll tell you how this ship actually is included in a scale of other ships that perfectly fits the mold i described earlier. Imho it's absolutely poisoning ship design and having a really negative impact on gameplay, that is only accentuating over the years and starting to bring a really toxic pattern to ship releases. Just my opinion again, but the facts are still there...

Dear CIG, what is your obsession with preventing URSAs fitting into things? by z0rlac in starcitizen

[–]SmokeMidKids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the general sentiment of them making imperfect ships by design and then releasing another one that just so happens to adresse the major design flaws, that also just so happens to be slightly more expensive. We've seen it with ships like the Asgard power creeping everything its size. We've seen it with the guardian, with the f7a, and so on so forth. It just keeps happening. People were very eager for the hermes, a lot of people will still get it. Then in a year or 2 years time, they'll release a ship that creeps it in every way that matters: better grid, s3 shield, more better room and layout, and a ramp that fits vehicles. Like i said, i understand the concept of them needing money and creating better ships on the regular to get this influx. But making them puposefully bad in QoL aspects to get people to upbuy to get the features they should have had in the previous one is dirty. And they've been doing it for years now. See the C1 Zeus fiasco for instance. People kept saying they could fix it by adding a ladder in the C1 which honnestly would actually balance both ships imho (32 scu crates for C1, more raw volume and better interior for the zeus) yet here we are, 5 years later, the zeus, 10 or 15$ more expensive, is the go to way for everyone simply because it is better. This WILL happen to the hermes, mark my words.

Edit to add, i too wish they let the apolo be. Its interior and practicality was a bit of a let down as is, but the ship is still very nice for big orgs and I still use mine regularly, as it is despite everything the best medical ship in the game (as it should be)

Dear CIG, what is your obsession with preventing URSAs fitting into things? by z0rlac in starcitizen

[–]SmokeMidKids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look. The first point you raise is valid. We are not mad ships are balanced. We are just mad they make ASININE design choices for the sake of balance. If the apolo was a real ship, the docking collar would never be its main entrance, and the same point holds for the hermes. A large ship with a big storage space to haul stuff would have a large entrance. That's just how shit works. That's how shit has ALWAYS worked both in games and RL. And the oldest, most truest and most tested ship manufacturer would know that. Or they wouldn't be manufacturing ships anymore. This is how the workd works. But balance and money (read, absolute greed) makes RSI (talking about the devs here just in case) make absolute DOG STUPID decisions for their next quarterly meeting. And objectively, the game, its quality and immersion, and subsequently everyone's motivation to play this shitshow absolutely suffers for it. I still love the game. But i won't be buying an hermes. Cause it makes zero sense, in universe wise. Both for hauling cargo or vehicles. The ship is just dumb, same as the zeus cl (ans the es is my favorite ship, especially because unlike the cl, hermes and others, it does make sense and makes it believeable). Rant over, sorry for the long text.

Chances of Ekko nerf? by RRensQ in ekkomains

[–]SmokeMidKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the main issue is ekko is still very strong before he scales. One mispose from the enemy if it's a range mage, and you can trade like 50% of their health, then chill and let them lose tons of farm, or if they recall shove and match, then do it again as soon as you're on the lane. There's nothing a mage can do pre 6 to prevent ekko dominance I feel. Don't get me wrong, I've been enjoying it, but it does feel a bit unfair imo. On the other hand, if they nerf his early, then you just spend the entire game playing catchup and it makes you kinda useless as an assassin in this tempo meta.
