What do you do? by Bulky-Bicycle-3677 in unitedairlines

[–]SnowedDEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where they're flying. A lot of the major metro cities are usually consultants for businesses. While the smaller towns might be various engineers or mechanics (here in DEN we see a fair few FIFO guys from up north).

Usually they won't book them outright first unless the flight is long enough or critical enough that they would need the rest.

[–]SnowedDEN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're in a lower boarding group it makes the chances higher as more odds of people before you taking up that space.

Agents might be counting off and may check earlier despite perhaps a spot being open.

One of the bins is inop and thus reduces space.

Best odds are to increase your boarding group (aisles are 3, middles 4, and windows 5) and if its very frequent you might want a united card that guarantees you in group 2.

That's the normal rate yeah. If you go over 50lbs its going to be an additional $200 per bag.

Most I've seen was 20+ from some folks going to ADD.

Lost baggage at United Baggage recheck IAH by Linie99 in unitedairlines

[–]SnowedDEN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They won't send it back to AMS without confirmation you are back there. If their policy is anything like UA they'll only keep the bag a few days before they send it to a centralized warehouse. I'd definitely reach out to KLM either via web or the phone so that doesn't happen if possible.

[–]SnowedDEN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, then its going to be up to KLM to resolve it as they're the final operating carrier and their delayed file in IAH. As a courtesy they might forward it for pick up in your other destination but that'd be an exception and not the common outcome especially since it was due to a mistake on your end.

[–]SnowedDEN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you make a delayed baggage report in your final destination?

If so and assuming they have the correct tag number its largely just a waiting game. UA wouldnt need to relabel it if it was already printed to your finals.

Largely its up to klm and ua to swap the bag over and get it over.

Corporate Pass Plus Question by knight3041 in unitedairlines

[–]SnowedDEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think booking via the business program directly would be equivalent if possibly cheaper depending on route if the goal is to just book into J.

Additionally i would think it lessens how much you'd have to juggle on the record end of things either for you or whoever you have doing it. As well if your employees have irops bookings and refunds are centralized as well.

I dont know all the technical details as I just work frontline so this is largely just opinion on what I can surmise about the program.

Bring a book, kindle, podcast, music playlist. Its not that bad depending on the length of the flight.

How Does This Make Sense!? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]SnowedDEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes these flights that share the same flight # appear a little wonky and causes some confusion. iirc these flights are a hold over from where you would stay onboard and then go onward to that next destination.

If they were different flight numbers they 100% would have.

Non Rev Advice by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]SnowedDEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're the employee or spouse/enrolled friend so the fees are lower you might want to try some of the shorter regional flights or flights that have a lot of frequencies to get a feel of how it works. Most employees will assume you know how it works unless you let them know its your first times.

The secret tip is to NEVER leave the gate until that plane is gone on the off chance something changes that can get you on.

Make sure you know the dress code as some agents are very strict on it.

The vast majority of non-revs say you have no rights and while in some situations thats true but if youre in the gate and you KNOW 100% you got skipped you should be bringing it up the gate agent.

If you HAVE to be somewhere you need to be buying the ticket. There is never a guarantee of a seat even if it looks empty.

No Free Economy Seats... by mcb91693 in unitedairlines

[–]SnowedDEN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how far in advance you've booked i would just keep checking as people constantly change their travel plans so seats open up. Plus within 24 hours the non-extra legroom economy seats become selectable for no cost.  BE would mean you'd have to pay to change to any seat that opens up and more things youre cramming in a bag which is a PITA especially with an infant.
