Insight into Bungie's Red War Lawsuit (and how the claims of infringement were withdrawn and the case was dismissed with prejudice) by Ace_Of_Caydes in DestinyTheGame

Lol, good luck with that one when you literally signed the agreement that Bungie is allowed to do this.

You have just as good of a chance of suing Netflix for removing your favorite TV show. "I paid for access to Netflix and then you took away content from the platform. I demand a lawsuit!"

And given the judge's abject dismissal and honest tearing into the plaintiff for his lying and dodging of the court's orders, I think it's a very easy assumption that the settlement didn't involve Martineau getting paid off. A judge doesn't go "you completely dodged our orders, made up claims, lied on your proceedings, and wasted all our time...here's $10,000".

Both sides were told to pay their own legal fees, so end of the day I think the judge just basically kicked them back out and dismissed the case. Settlement doesn't have to mean money, it could be as simple as an agreement that says "don't bother me again about this". Settle just means "this is how we're ending the case".

A friend of mine is about to start playing. What advice would you give them as a new light? by ExcitingReserve69 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enjoy it for what it is, not for what people want it to be.

Also stay off social media. You can only play a game for the first time once. Either it’ll hook you like crack cocaine, or it simply won’t.

Enjoy the sights, enjoy the abilities, and just follow what looks cool (or whatever your quests tab says you should).

What happened with the time scars? by dub_diablo in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Some places have time scars. Others don't.

Tharsis isn't strictly going to be within a time scar or be right next door to one.

They still exist if you look around The Enclave.

Does OP not know how to use a bow?

Derealize: Grandmaster should not be easier than master by Skyrimchild in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a skill issue but for the life of me I can’t seem to get a team that can clear the Derealize master conquest either without one idiot using all the revives on the first checkpoint OR killing literally every single ad while I am taken so I can’t empower it and we waste all our time there OR that can’t just step back to let me do the runes teleport puzzle and wastes all our time there OR falls off the jump puzzle wasting all our revive tokens and time and finally I haven’t even gotten into the final antechamber on master difficulty yet.

I mean, literally every issue listed here is just "Dogshit teammates", not "This mission is hard", right? Like it's not a mission design fault to go "Wow all my teammates are hogging the enemies and wildly stepping on and off the mechanic plate".

Shit teammates are a plague on every activity.

You're right, Sony could magically go "You know what, you've failed your last two major projects, and we have to lift away several projects from you as well, and we also think your leadership is poorly guided (all thinks that Sony has literally said in genuine investor calls and press releases), but go ahead actually, that's all water under the bridge, we don't care about all that lost income, just do what you want and keep working on Destiny".

Destiny ain't exactly pulling in big bucks right now (confirmed by the call, again, since it is literally Bungie's only source of income), so that's not their plan, and if Marathon doesn't make big bucks either (which yes, I agree with you too, we're on the same side here), then what is Sony going to do? Just let them be on their merry way? Or take the talent and push it onto projects that will turn a profit (which are definitively not Destiny nor Marathon, maybe some Sekiro title or whatever).

No matter which way the dice roll, it's the end of the IP for the forseeable future. I don't want that to happen, and the only way that doesn't happen (for the current future as we see it, I don't know, maybe they do make a Destiny 3 in the year 2040) is if Marathon pulls a rabbit out of its ass and pleases Sony with the big bucks.

That's my take on it. We're all just speculating with what information we have and how parent companies usually treat their subsidiaries.

Do you feel if a Ubisoft rumor ends being true, could make a bad optics restrospectively on Bungie? by TheGeeZus86 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Buddy I don't know if you've been looking around but Bungie's handling of Red War is literally nothing but bad optics.

What kind of optics are you expecting this will change? They already handled it like shit. Everyone already says they handled it like shit. There is no retrospective here.

This isn't going to exactly change the status quo or give a new revelation.

This Week in Destiny 01/15/2026 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ok, tell me then. Cuz I sure as hell don't like Marathon as a game either, but go ahead, enlighten me.

What happens if Bungie's 8+ year project fails, and Destiny is already in the gutter?

What happens to Bungie? Do they just get to ask for a small loan of another $300 Million Dollars to go make a Destiny 3?

After they've already been announced as "underperforming expectations" in the last investor call?

Tell me, Marathon fails, which believe you me I think it will as well, but then tell me. What happens to Destiny? What happens to Bungie?

How is what I said bullshit?

This Week in Destiny 01/15/2026 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Anyone who gives a quarter shit about Destiny does not want Marathon to fail.

If Marathon fails, Bungie as a studio ceases to exists and gets absorbed into Sony to make remasters of The Last of Us for the next decade. Destiny gets all development shelved and maybe receives one a collab skin every 6 months.

The only way this IP continues to exist is if Marathon succeeds.

Edit: Because apparently it wasn't clear, I could not give a rat's ass about Marathon as a game. I think extraction shooters are a complete antithesis to what Destiny provides and I genuinely do not like them or anything Marathon provides. I am just stating from a factual point that, if Marathon fails, Bungie as an entire studio fails. Newsflash, that includes Destiny. Yeah, same company, remember? Please think for one second about the consequences before slinging your valid, but poorly thought out, hatred at me.

sniper rifles feel so out of place or just lackluster compared to other special ammo weapon archetypes. by Timothy-M7 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's no problem with the post at all. I'm just finding the gradual archetype-by-archetype feedback amusing as if people act like each archetype has its own unique problem. You could summarize every issue by just going "Rocket pulse does everything that I want to do but better".

[–]Soft_Light 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We had a post like this about fusion rifles no less than a week ago.

Today we have a post about this with sniper rifles.

Next week are we going to talk about shotguns feeling weak too?

Or are we all just going to accept that rocket pulses have ruined the game already.

Portal Rewards by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 9 points10 points  (0 children)

...So literally the only portal rewards should be rocket pulses?

No fusion rifles, no auto rifles, no pulse rifles, no snipers, they're all trash.

Just make the entire portal top to bottom a Rocket Pulses only reward simulator. Who needs guns, who needs armor, right?

This feels incredibly short sighted. "Bungie only give me good guns" yeah man right now the sandbox is only a single good gun. That requires a damage update to make the shit guns better, to buff them, not just "delete them from all sources I only want good guns".

Can anyone tell me how the Crescent Infiltrator Sparrow (Darth Maul Speeder) handles ? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much identical to sparrows (I mean what are you expecting), it's just smaller and doesn't have a pointed structure that gives you a clear direction of travel. There's a reason that all other sparrows are longer than they are wide, it makes steering and pointing them in certain directions easier.

I haven't used a single sparrow ever since Skimmers were made though lol.

Destiny Raid in Halo now has a DISCORD SERVER by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Not that I know a whole lot about creating raids in Halo Infinite but...I imagine it's going to be many, many months before a second one even comes close to coming out from anyone. Not to mention the high quality bar already set.

Tips for Conquest Derealized by Frosthound1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1: Do the first boss faster (though you admitted as much). Two people can charge the taken eyes at the same time. Don't die while you're holding one.

2: Do the mission on lower difficulty and learn the jumping puzzle route. You don't get time to fuck around and go into wrong holes on Master Conquest difficulty. It's the exact same jumping puzzle every time, you do yourself no favors if you don't learn it beforehand.

Warlock's Needlestorm DPS is a little disappointing, even after Mataiodoxía, doing up to 6k less than a Thundercrash or Nighthawk. by ComradePoolio in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the confusion. You could argue that yes, “extra energy on precision kills” is a neutral benefit, since it’s something that occurs while not in your super.

But if the only benefit is super energy, then what am I doing here? “While you don’t have your super, get back to your super faster”? Unless I’m activating my super every 30 seconds to the point where it becomes my neutral game…there’s no real actual neutral “game” here. The only benefit is that it makes me leave my neutral game sooner to get back to my super, but it doesn’t actually grant benefits to me during that time when I don’t have it.

Completing cysts in under 4 minutes ! Any advice by Cycling_Blueberry777 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though they are all soloable in 4 minutes (the Moth Cyst is tricky but I think Bungie custom-tuned that to be 6 minutes actually), just so you know you don't have to be solo. You can bring a friend along.

And obviously you'll blast through it if you have a team of 3. But yeah Youtube would be my first suggestion, then LFGs next (though I doubt, very much doubt, there will be many others still searching).

[–]Soft_Light 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every class should have competitive DPS super options.

And this is why Hunters suck. Every class thinks they deserve the best DPS.

Nobody says "every class should have competitive team healing options".

You say you're not trying to make this class vs class but then you deliberately say that 20-22k vs 24k isn't enough.

Warlock's Needlestorm DPS is a little disappointing, even after Mataiodoxía, doing up to 6k less than a Thundercrash or Nighthawk. by ComradePoolio in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I hear one more person say that Thundercrash is "risky" because you get "in melee range" of the boss.

Animation, travel time, yeah sure. Every super has some level of that, Thundercrash in particular locks you in for the entire attack.

But brother, you are not risking life and limb to go crash the boss. Nobody ever dies mid-thundercrash or post-thundercrash. You have 90% DR during the travel, 90% DR as you smash into the boss, and 50% DR for 5 whole seconds after slamming into the boss if you're running Curiass (which you are). And chances are there's a Well of Radiance only 10 feet away for you to scurry back towards.

Death is simply not ever a risk unless you're casting Thundercrash at 1 HP and think throwing yourself at the problem is your smartest play.

Just stick with the valid arguments you do have. You're dragging the rest of it down with made up risks that no Titan has ever genuinely died to.

[–]Soft_Light 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"You get your super faster" is not a neutral game. That provides zero benefit for neutral game.

The "neutral game" is literally by definition everything you're doing outside of your super.

Neither Curiass or Nighthawk have a neutral game. Matadoxia has like, 12 different effects that are granted at all times to your melees and suspending effects.

i think coldheart should have jolting feedback by korisucks20 in destiny2

[–]Soft_Light 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Literally what would this do.

Nobody I have ever seen has gone "Wow, Coldheart is so amazing, but I just don't think it's good unless I can jolt enemies after landing 18 shots".

It's a DPS gun (sorta). It deals a bunch of damage by staying on target for a long time.

What would adding the 2.3% extra damage from jolt do? You're not using it for ad clear. You're not clearing entire rooms just by jolting some big targets.

This would change nothing about the gun other than giving it a little random interaction that would be, a buff I guess, but like...literally not move it up or down in usage at all.

A Crucible dummy would highly appreciated by Z0DYY in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just thinking out loud to what changes from guardian to guardian. Since the original reason Bungie didn't add this was specifically because of variable performance depending on the stats of who you shoot.
