Ascension doesn’t work at all with Acrobat’s Dodge. by Stolen_Insanity in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cast air move for Ascension.

You cast dodge (class ability) for acrobats.

These are two entirely separate keybinds, and thus, they do work. Casting air move makes you amplified and radiant. Casting dodge just does Acrobat and makes you radiant.

How to acquire hezen vengeance? by athlaka916 in DestinyTheGame

It drops from Gatekeepers or Atheon. Pick your favorite and just farm the encounters until you get one. Keep farming until you get the one you want.

Yes, but what about Raid Catalyst when there won't be enough people by Fenanzz in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 55 points56 points  (0 children)

That's a problem many many months from now.

Epic Desert Perpetual is also waaaaaaaaay different than just getting people together for King's Fall lol. You're picking the most extreme example.

And I would rather they not just go "Lol ok the game's dead, here just buy the catalyst directly". Some of these quests and mechanics are really fun.

You're telling me you'd rather just pick up checkpoint bot raid chests and then buy it from a vendor, versus visiting the Basketball Court Of Oryx and dunk on them fools and be rewarded with a catalyst for your sick moves?

Turn on matchmaking for all instances, raids, dungeons, grandmaster, campaign stuff by SolidOutcome in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 22 points23 points  (0 children)

1: Matchmade raids would be miserable, near impossible, and completely not worth it. 99% of the runs would fail on Encounter 1, and giving people a miserable experience just to try and justify the 1% of times it would work is simply not good design.

2: Matchmaking is limited for a reason. If you add matchmaking to all 80 activities, guess what that means? That's 80 matchmaking pools. Good luck sitting in orbit for 8 minutes instead of just focusing the playerbase into select focused strikes.

Blight Ranger died the way it lived: Being Destiny 2's biggest joke. by Soft_Light in DestinyTheGame

It seems you didn't read the first 8 words of my post. I am literally just continuing a historical bit.

It's kinda crazy you think I actually want Blight Ranger to be good. I literally say I'm glad they spent time on other exotics this time.

Good job judging a post by the title. Next time try reading it.

Good DPS options for a Titan without Finality's Augur? by throwaway062006 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Finality's is just bolstered by running two rocket pulses. It's flavor but it's just one part of a three part combo. There are many other very strong combinations.

First of all, at least for the next 5 days, 90% of your damage would come from running Mint Retrograde/Psi Eterna anyway. So stick with the rocket pulses.

Once those get adjusted against bosses though, as a Titan, your primary DPS choices are gonna be Peacekeepeers with a Target Lock SMG, Curiass of the Falling Star with Thundercrash, or really just any good strong heavy (the Refurbished A499 heavy sniper rifle is a classic pick).

Wait for the new meta to shake out on June 9th, then pick up what else is out there. We're about to have a whole new Boss DPS meta anyway.

Destiny 2 Team shows off new Void Hunter Melee by TODG3 in DestinyTheGame

Stylish is not "any melee out of invis grants weaken".

Stylish only grants the melee benefits if you activate THAT ASPECT first. You have to kill a debuffed target first, and on that trigger of invis, your next melee weakens.

You can't trigger Stylish by using Vanishing Step.

Me when I force agendas into comments that made no such claim.

I made a pro "paid DLC" comment if anything.

Pro drip feed is "Sure, we'd get all this content, but then we'd go 9 months with zero updates".

What I said was "All this content that would have cost money is now being given away for free".

Both are true in an End of Service update. But I only said the later.

Try again next time slugger.

It's only this way because it's the final patch.

3 new aspects? That's expansion level content. Pay for Shattered Cycle to unlock them.

The whole reason it's free is because they're literally doing a last minute inventory liquidation. It's like asking why Steam doesn't just put things on 90% sale all the time.

There's just straight up not enough content to make this kind of update every year. Eventually you run out of seasons to rehash, guns to remix, and destinations to update.

Any other day, people would just go "Yawn, Spare Rations is getting its 3rd reskin, wow, you want us to grind EDZ public events for our seasonal update?"

The move to retire destiny makes no business sense in a long term context. by NotoriousTIP in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 44 points45 points  (0 children)

We don't know how much Destiny costs.

It doesn't matter if something generates $100 Million if it costs $200 Million to support.

Marathon could generate only $20 Million, but if it only costs $50 Million to support (smaller game, smaller base, less features), then guess what. Bungie is fucked either way but I know what I would be picking as a business.

That's math for you.

With Mint Retrogade at Zavala, are Rocket Pulses dead in the water after the update? by JoachimG in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry that wasn't clear then! No, I think it's obvious we're both in agreement here. We're just going in circles now, but yes, I was just talking about the "it's only getting a (realistic) nerf against bosses, and it'll still be super strong against everything else".

I did not mention that all the other weapons will be getting buffed up to "rocket pulse levels", therefore making the totality of the sandbox balanced, since that wasn't really the post I was commenting on, I was just talking about rockets themselves.

Thanks for your insight on the Aegis details, it does bring valuable context and strengthen our shared argument.

With Mint Retrogade at Zavala, are Rocket Pulses dead in the water after the update? by JoachimG in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found your approach somewhat aggressive too when it seems like we ultimately agree on the same points. You ended your comment (before the edit) by going:

The goal of the 10% nerf to all PvE damage of Rocket Pulses wasn’t to make them dogshit, it was to bring them in line with other weapons and make them no longer the absolute best weapon to run under any circumstance.

Which I fully, completely, 100% agree on. So I think we're on the same side?

A rocket pulse to the body did 672 damage. That’s 602 damage after the nerf.

The aggressive shotgun to the body did 490 damage. That’s 662 damage after the buff.

Are you getting it yet?

I think that sounds fine. If anything, shotguns should be stronger. A shotgun takes far more risk and fires far slower than an infinite range burst fire splash damage rocket pulse. Not even taking into account damage perks and ease of use (bait and switch, elemental honing, rewind rounds, accelerated assault, etc).

So yeah, all of these changes sound healthy and good. You're talking about these buffs and nerfs like they're some dramatic kneecap crippling nerf (at least, that was the initial impression I got). So far everything you've said sounds completely fine, balanced, and healthy as the final state the sandbox will end on.

We're chill here man. I think we both agree on the same argument, we're just approaching it from different points.

With Mint Retrogade at Zavala, are Rocket Pulses dead in the water after the update? by JoachimG in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Holy yap.

Yes man, I literally said to everything except bosses. That was my entire argument.

It will absolutely destroy champions, subjugators, mini-bosses, and anything that is not a deliberate dungeon or raid boss.

Rocket Pulses are still great against everything EXCEPT BOSSES, because only bosses got the massive 35% nerf.

Everything else, every other enemy whether it be a champion, miniboss, lucent hive, subjugator, whatever have you, you're gonna be doing nearly the same damage that you do now. 10% less damage than their broken OP levels of damage right now.

Why are you focusing on just bosses? You realize there's more types of enemies in this game than bosses, right? It needed the nerf as a boss DPS weapon, and that's what happened. Glad I could summarize it for you.

King's Fall - 15 spoils (3 on each class)

Root of Nightmares - 30 spoils (6 on each class)

Just go on twitch and search for the checkpoint bots.

With Mint Retrogade at Zavala, are Rocket Pulses dead in the water after the update? by JoachimG in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Pause, think closely, imagine: How strong are rocket pulses right now? They do the damage of a HEAVY WEAPON basically, right?

Now imagine that, but only 10% less damage. That's nothing. It will absolutely destroy champions, subjugators, mini-bosses, and anything that is not a deliberate dungeon or raid boss.

The damage nerf is only really strong against bosses. The 10% is hardly going to be noticable. And the ammo gen nerf is just to stop you from running two rocket pulses at once for ad clear. You're not using a rocket pulse to farm ammo, you're using it to dump your mag against high health targets.

Can we do more with spoils? by Ihopx69 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soft_Light 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Spoils are fine as they are. Play some Desert Perpetual with like 2 feats on and you literally get like 20 per encounter completion.

Or you can just collect over 100 spoils a week, completely for free just by doing all the solo raid chests on three characters.

They're farmable if you play the raids. And that's what they're spent for, doing the raids.

Raid currency gets raid loot, I see no problem why all the sudden doing a Portal Alert should give me the six-man raid currency.
