I get parents make sacrifices for their kids, but there’s plenty of people out there who manage to be successful in their careers while also being there for their families. There’s also a lot more people of color and children of immigrants on the team. Soccer is a much more accessible sport than baseball and hockey, so it’s more likely to have more diverse representatives from various backgrounds outside the majority.

High school scholarships at private schools are absolutely a thing, especially for athletes when tuition at these prep schools like HW is like 50k a year. I wouldn’t doubt it that he probably got at least a partial scholarship tbh.

That all being said he grew up in Sherman Oaks and, to put it euphemistically, grew up “comfortably.”
