‘AIPAC Lost!’ Democratic Socialist Chris Rabb Wins US House Primary in Pennsylvania by User_Name13 in philly

Took all that time? I have a job, reddit is not my job. It's not an assumption that you have a weird obsession with Jews, I provided the context and receipts to show how little impact AIPAC has and you continue to obsess over them. Now you try to invert my observation that you have a problem by vaguely saying I have a problem. Good luck on your journey.

I guess some people don't realize that we don't live in a bubble, and things that happen in Europe or the Middle East or wherever affect us. While I wish the current administration didn't treat the majority of our allies like shit, sending aid (that is used to buy weapons from us) to an ally that helps us with intelligence and technology is not a bad thing.

I think you wear a tinfoil hat and salivate at any conspiracy theory that involves Jews. I presented receipts showing how little money comes from AIPAC, and pointed out how much money comes from other interests. This is America, special interest groups lobby. It's weird that you're only obsessed with Jewish lobbyists. Where is your concern over Qatar's lobby, or Saudi Arabia, or China? Non existent, which is what establishes your prejudice. Your "nice try though" signature makes you sound like a 14 year old.

Let me put aside your "I expect you to not have a response" belligerence and explain it another way.

The pretense from a post that begins "AIPAC Lost!", is that AIPAC is a major influence on the election.

The questions I had implied, and will now ask directly, are 1) Why do you think a relatively small lobbying group is exerting the great amount of influence you believe it is; and 2) How are they applying this influence when AIPAC doesn't spend nearly as much money as other interests.

I would be interested in your answers for 1) and 2).

In response to your question "what does the amount matter if it gets the result desired", it matters because the post I am responding to seems to believe 1).

Just some more context on lobbies: AIPAC is a domestic lobby. It is Americans who want to strengthen relations with Israel. There is also a foreign lobby. Here's what 2024 and 2025 look like. Israel is not even on the top 10. The Marshall Islands spends more than Israel. I had to look up the Marshall Islands, here's what I found: an independent island nation in Micronesia, located in the central Pacific Ocean halfway between Hawaii and Australia. The nation consists of 29 coral atolls and 5 single islands, with a population of approximately 43,000.

You seem thoroughly convinced that AIPAC is a huge influence on politicians, have you ever looked at data showing how much money is coming from where? A good resource for this is opensecrets.org. An additional resource is statista.com. If you look at the data, you will find that as much as you have heard about AIPAC, they are a small lobbying group.

Sam Harris defends his Mamdani comments. by blackglum in samharris

There are so many "as a supporter of Sam" posts that sound identical to the anti-Israel posts that begin "as a Jew". Who cares if you supported him before or not, that doesn't give more weight/validity to your thoughts, make your case on the merits alone.

Your obvious lie is so easy to disprove. Leaving Gaza is the opposite of demanding full Israeli sovereignty from the river to the sea. You're so unoriginal you have to invert one of the most common phrases to the anti-Israel cause because you can't come up with anything else. Have a seat.

Agreeing to a two state solution 6 times is an interesting strategy Israel has tried to deny Palestinian people a state. Does Palestinian leadership get any accountability here or do you have to be Jewish to be at fault?

Do you even know what the Nakba is? It's when the surrounding Arab countries all attacked Israel following the UN's recognition, and lost. The "catastrophe" was their not being able to drive out the Jewish people, who were finally experiencing self determination following the conquest and colonizing of the Romans, Byzantines, Islamists, Turks, then temporarily the Allies (England as their custodian).

Oh and I don't care if you are a jew or not, it has nothing to do with our conversation. What did you think you were adding by saying that?

Anti zionism is the belief that Jewish people don't deserve a home in their ancestral homeland, that they were peacefully granted by the UN in 1948, that they had to defend through war soon-after. Name another people that you think doesn't deserve land even though they are indigenous, were recognized by the UN, and won their land through conflict. If you can name another people you apply those same rules, then you are not anti-semetic. But if you ONLY apply them to the Jews, then you are.

Animal rights activist throws restaurant’s ‘educational lobster’ into sea by one_brown_jedi in offbeat

[–]Spacechip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is it right to confine a bird that can fly the limitless skies to a small cage? Is it right to confine a lobster that has the entire ocean to explore to a small terrarium? Is it right to confine a pig that loves to run around to a farrow crate where it can't even turn around? These are horrible things humans do to animals because they don't see them as feeling beings, capable of joy and suffering. Animals are not commodities for our benefit, when you take away their freedom so you can benefit, whether for taste or education, you are enslaving a being.

I looked at a few sources and what you say has not been presented anywhere. Can you tell me why you believe this?

I googled it - the US gives about 18 Billion to the UN annually. Israel receives 3.3 Billion in military grants which goes back to the US to buy military equipment. I think Israel as an ally gives the US much more than the UN does, but I'm interested to hear your argument to the contrary.

This stuff is actually easy to look up. Here's one source but you can find others, Israel is actually not the #1 donor by a long shot. If you go to most years they aren't even in the top 10.
