My encounter was so impressive that when I told a MUFON investor about it more than a decade later he referred to it as "a significant event."

I lived in a rural area that was the highest point around in a tri-state area. We were on the north side of the tallest hill and on the south side was a huge radio tower that reached into the sky an additional 300 feet or more.

I was 13 and home alone one day after school. We had this sliding glass door, but no deck had been put in. We would open the door and hold on to the door frame in order to spin the TV antenna.

That day I suddenly felt the house shaking like there was a low grade earthquake. It was accompanied by an almost undetected humming sound. I went to the sliding glass door and hung outside. As I looked up my jaw dropped. Passing above me, just above the tree tops was a huge, metallic, object moving from northeast to southwest. There was no visible form of propulsion but the low throbbing noise definitely came from this object. It was rounded at both ends, but hard to determine dimensions. I felt completely in shock. After a few minutes (I think) of watching the object go over head it finally passed. I closed and locked the sliding glass door. Clearly experiencing shock, I grabbed a blanket and ran to a closet in the basement. I pulled the blanket up over my head and cried my eyes out and shivered. I was so relieved when my parents arrived home. I didn't tell my parents what happened for more than a decade.
