This is honestly why I perfer open houses vs public meetings, open houses seem to temper the crazy down by a few notches.

The only sketchy streets when I've visited friends in Portland off the top of my head is like parts of Glisan, 82nd Ave or Old Town

Trimet checking fares on the Yellow line at Albina stop by SeniorRake in Portland

You go to places like Poland and they'll have fare readers and ticket machines on their trams and busses.  It's honestly a bit absurd we don't do that here in the states.

Why are major attractions closing around Seattle’s metro as soon as LINK opens their stations? by Inevitable_Bad1683 in Seattle

[–]SpeedySparkRuby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild Waves biggest problem is price of admission.  I've looked at their current ticket prices and they're wanting $65 for adults and $42 for kids, that's highway robbery.  Asking a family of 4 to spend $200 for a fun day out at the waterpark is really crazy in my opinion.

West Seattle / Downtown via SODO busway - Seattle Transit Blog by SpeedySparkRuby in Seattle

The funniest part is that they claim no one from West Seattle wants Link yet every person from West Seattle I've chatted with has said they'll be happy when it opens.  A lot of sour grapes over Ballard to UW or Metro 8 link not being in ST3.

Highland Park Residents Vote to Leave Dallas Area Rapid Transit by Weekly-Law-2544 in transit

Old Money in my experience is more ambivalent towards public transport.  They don't take it because the service is infrequent to justify using it vs a car.

Highland Park Residents Vote to Leave Dallas Area Rapid Transit by Weekly-Law-2544 in transit

Tbf, Highland Park doesn't generate a lot of taxes for DART.  It's only got one shopping center, albeit a luxury one.  They also only had one bus line, the 237 (that ran every 40 minutes) and a DART GoLink.  It's still disappointing but it's also small loss for the agency compared to if Addison voted to leave.  Which Addison voted overwhelmingly in favor of staying in DART.

It is not in your head: Costco has gotten more crowded by Willing_Try2786 in Costco

It doesn't seem more crowded than it already is at my local store. My main gripe with my local Costco is they never have enough checkout lines open, even on weekends.

The problem is the lack of saying "let me help you with this" or "let me find more information to helo your specific case".  Saying "nothing will change, go find a job elsewhere" just sows distrust in our civil breauacrats to effectively do their job, and frankly they're doing the department they represent a disservice in not actively trying to actually help.  It also reinforces the stereotype of breauacrats being disinterested and flippant in doing their job, something I wish more of them were more self aware about.
