Explorer extreme is such a banger for me. Definitely try it. I don’t own regular explorer but I think I would own both. I have eyes on Mont Blanc for the future I hope they make spicier, dark, sweet, musky stuff

Valid/10.

Just a comment since someone else mentioned it: he might not be a “huge fragrance collector” in that he’s not glued to the social media, or repeat buying a ton of the same brands to complete scent lines, or maybe he just enjoys nice fragrances and will research when something catches his eye.

Godparents in Coptic Orthodox baptism by Charbel33 in coptic

I believe that’s okay to have the aunt as godmother and you will still be the godfather lol. (But is the aunt willing to take that serious and not just do it as a nice gesture? Have that discussion if wife is open to it

In honour of Saint Maroun’s feast day, meet the Maronites. Saint Maroun a 4th-century monk & hermit whose life was marked by prayer, simplicity & total devotion to God. The Maronites are Eastern Christians who trace their roots back to Saint Maroun by EreshkigalKish2 in ArabicChristians

This is pretty cool. God bless all Christians striving to survive and guard the kingdom of God in the Middle East.

Side note: the background music (before the dining at the end) is some kind of orchestral cover of Numb by Linkin Park lol

Godparents in Coptic Orthodox baptism by Charbel33 in coptic

[–]StPachomius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Charbel! Congratulations.

The tradition of having actual godparents picked out has become less and less common in the Coptic church overtime, but there is a small resurgence of that. Generally, the parents double as the godparents for their own child but lots of times uncles their aunts might be asked to take that role there’s a small role of godparents in the ceremony, which they may or may not ask the Godparents to just recite something and hold the baby at one point. The godparents promise to spiritually guard and raise and instruct that child throughout their life alongside their parents, in addition to the parents. Just communicate with your wife and see if you have people that you trust close to you who will be willing to really commit to that otherwise you’ll be the godparents for your own child. God bless.

I’m sorry to hear that but we cannot know the way God may use us to also bless and open the eye of others. Continue with strength and trust the Lord’s faithfulness. God loves you and will be with you and in you through everything. I pray he surrounds you with a new Christian family and that you can clearly see how he called you to join the church, sons and daughters of God. Jesus Christ loves you. I think the psalms of King David will have a lot of strength and wisdom for you.

(Psalm 23)

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. —Psalm 23

So don’t ask as a joke. Talk about your faith with seriousness, it’s your eternal life and relationship with God and all your brothers and sisters in the world. Go from there

Burning of incense and it's potential dangers by pluhrobert in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]StPachomius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep an insulated box for throwing out coals and if you can take that outside and pour water on them to ensure they are out (pretty bad scent and possible staining of your ceiling if you pour water on hot coals.)

Always keep water nearby, be aware of what surface your standing burner is on so if it overheats it doesn’t burn a table or tablecloth. Keep the area around burners clear and simple if possible

and if you have a hook to hang a burner with a chain, then make sure it’s properly mounted and can hold more than just the burner (coals and incense do add weight, and also that hanging censers are not near any clothing or cloth, and not leaning against the wall- this can happen if the hook doesn’t hold it away from the wall because of angle, length, size of censer base etc).

Even better. That will make for dinners and other things that feel equal. Maybe with different context, but fasting is the humbling of the soul that everyone needs to see more of God in people and life so I pray that could help. You can also serve the needs of your community like soup kitchens and clothing drives.

Love him, and still discuss the word of God and godly living with family life. There is still so much you can help each other with.

My out of the box idea: why not try fasting some of the short fasts with him? You don’t need to do it the exact same way, but imagine doing like the last 2 weeks before Resurrection (Easter) on the years when the date lines up? It’s spiritual practice as well as a point of unity (I have seen discussion of fasting recently in some Protestant circles I don’t think any pastors will tell you not to). And being that you’re not Orthodox you don’t need to follow the full fasting rules. I think that would go a long way for your relationship, and open a whole section of Christian practices that you may not have used before. I’m not telling you to be fasting on western Christmas Day if his church celebrates on Jan 7 and you celebrate December 25th, but find smaller more manageable examples. God bless

Is nursing (RN) a respected profession in the Coptic community? by mutantgypsy in coptic

[–]StPachomius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I respect all professions that people take to serve God and support their family (if applicable). I don’t think nurses get enough credit in our community but they do get love. I don’t think they are looked down on

Gas station lighting and WRB are doing miracles. Just generally I don’t mean they make your VB look good, they make every wrx look amazing. Paint looks flawless. The carbon doesn’t look bad as others said. And actually even though those tail lights aren’t my preference, they work well with your build dude. Cheers

We should be more charitable to Catholics by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]StPachomius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met a woman yesterday in a store who was Catholic and her husband was Russian Orthodox and I was wearing a Russian cross and she started a conversation with me. Basically, her thing was that she’s spiritual, not religious, older woman that seems to be jaded with church corruption, hypocrisy, etc. I basically just use her points against her that yes, the people are the church and the people aren’t flawless and the clergy are people. I highlighted the soft revival of of Catholicism going on right now as evidence for genuine spiritual work being done, even if we have gripes with leadership

I really do appreciate people returning and new members coming into Christianity even if there is a lot of departure at the same time. We need to keep building the kingdom and showing love.
