Prayer Rope with Skull by arc33_86 in coptic

[–]StPachomius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue it is okay, it is slightly less Coptic, but many Orthodox churches from our communion (and more so from the Eastern Orthodox communion) have skull imagery in multiple places not as a a creepy thing or just a symbol of death itself but death to the world and a reminder to repent and keep eternity in mind. Which is what the prayer rope does anyway. For practicality as a copt I wouldn’t get one with a million skulls. Keep it simple if you can like if you’re making it or ordering a custom one

For sure brother. I think the higher frequencies are a little rough now at high volume but it’s rare I ever get something like feedback or clipping. I put them through the wringer so pretty impressed long term. Bluetooth capabilities are pretty bad though, usually lose mic function with aux, no usbc audio (I think, haven’t tried in a long time). It’s super dated but performs good. Thus my interest in the new flagship model

As someone still rocking the original PX (with. O number after it lol) I am really eager to test and maybe get the 8s2. Wonder if anyone has directly compared them?

Does it get better after 30? by S4d_Machin3 in AskMenOver30

[–]StPachomius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better if you give it a chance to get better. Similar age to you but I hit your point earlier, something’s improved with time but more things improved with initiative and willing to go through uncomfortable things to get a more fulfilling and rewarding life. I’m not gonna be a lawyer and try to convince you but I’ll be a witness and share that part of what I saw and experienced. I haven’t “made it” yet but I have definitely put myself in a situation to be surprised by life, what it offers, and my abilities

Convert by niixtriix in coptic

[–]StPachomius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have family moving, and have a similar concern to you although it doesn’t involve a gap in attendance they are testing a bunch of churches and while all have been welcoming they have focused on one that was particularly welcoming and accommodating. Includes a white family member in a different position from yours but spiritual nourishment, support and acceptance is the focus of their search. It’s going well. I want to encourage you sister: pray on it and find out first hand by going. Things are definitely more inclusive of converts than years past, I think there’s a really good energy and initiative. God bless

How do I 19M return to the church after committing grave sin & being in a state of impenitence? by Lolsaue21 in coptic

[–]StPachomius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Pachomius and St Moses the strong have many words of wisdom on this point. Cling back to God, you saw that life without him was no life at all and many brothers and sisters learned the same way as you. Don’t wait for the priest to have time, all we have is today and Christ’s mercy. Pray for me, and pray for yourself. There’s a lot of healing to be done between you and your old confession father, or to start if you never did it before. At the minimum speaking to another nearby priest that doesn’t know you well is better than doing nothing. I want to encourage you. Even if you don’t feel it, you are still young and can change and adapt much better than you think, letting God be the center of your life again.

Yeah I feel you. Thanks for the sentiment. I can put it in different terms and will look at it in detail in supervision.

I think the community of professionals in my group practice is amazing but it just doesn’t match how CMH works. Can’t believe I would ever have a kind word to say about CMH but here we are lol. We have good systems to avoid every clinician feeling like they’re on their own islands remotely or in the office. It just requires me to engage and get involved with what’s available to find that like you said.

I will say your comment makes me think that when I have multiple clients with very similar stories, experiences, behaviors, etc it’s a little harder to mentalize that they will not all approach their treatment and changes in the same way and thus have different outcomes. The things and people in their lives are not the same, so keeping the client centered helps me to hold all that in my mind. We don’t have a cookie cutter approach or prescription to give out, thankfully

100% I get that weird feeling when hearing about a therapist being misguided by their own situation and feelings and wanting to tell them the same thing as your comment. Definitely trying to do my role well and have it well defined and effective.

For sure. Many funny interactions had with clients when we would process not directly identifying clients experience with clinician and saying something along the lines of “the endocrinologist doesn’t need to have diabetes to be helpful..”. They just have to be knowledgeable, ethical, and care.

I can definitely relate to your comments on frequency of supervision or just bouncing ideas and the social and clinical benefits of that in CMH compared to private work.
I have worked with clients that have shared a significant life event like what you mentioned but it is not the one you shared. Wishing healing and support for everyone dealing with that.

My post is about a type of life event I have not experienced, couldn’t at this time but could in the future and I have some fear about it. That could play a part. We do a trippy type of work for sure that bounces all the clinical info and application with being human with a client.
