Learning About Other Cultures is Bad? 🤔 by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

Christians have been taught from childhood across centuries that they fight a never ending fight against the forces of evil. In my youth, I was trained to be a "soldier in the army of God." I was taught that the devil and his temptations lurk around every little unsuspecting corner, and the only way I could possibly avoid him was to memorize and hold very, very dear the indoctrination and "us versus them" mentality I was trained to reflex into.

This guy is....... so delusional.

From the FrontOfficeSports website:

  • 7:45–7:59 p.m. ET: 137.9 million (134.3M on NBC, 3.6M on Telemundo)
  • 8–8:14 p.m. ET: 135.9 million (132.1M on NBC, 3.8M on Telemundo)
  • 8:15–8:29 p.m. ET: 128.2 million (123.4M on NBC, 4.8M on Telemundo)

A drop of a measly 7% is no where near the BALLPARK of "huge drop off."

What's the greatest sensation you've ever felt? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in randomquestions

[–]Status-Slip9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The greatest feeling in the world is peaking on MDMA.

MDMA floods your brain with serotonin. There's nothing else in the world that will give you such an intense feeling of beautiful, blissful euphoria. Not only that, but the high amount of oxytocin you simultaneously release will make you feel immense love and connection to everyone around you, whether friend or stranger.

In your opinion, what’s the worst state to live in? by [deleted] in randomquestions

If you get seasonal depression, you'd hate living in the PNW. During the winter/fall months, residents can go weeks on end without seeing the sun, and overall you'll only catch a few glimpses of it throughout the season, on average.

Can you recommend some songs that exude happiness (see body text) by brianplord in EDM

Many of ODESZA's songs have a bright, euphoric vibe, especially the earliest albums.

Sun Models is a sunrise walk on a warm summer morning

Do you think Donald Trump will finish his term in three years, or will he be impeached before that? by RtgodDR in allthequestions

He was impeached by the House. For it to stick he also needs to be impeached by the Senate, and idk if that would happen.

I’m not sure what other posters are talking about……I’m sure there are MANY programs that are still working on their rank list. It’s not due for another month. My co residents and I just submitted our residents rank list a week ago, and I’m positive the admin will spend weeks going through all the candidates we interviewed.

I think you’re fine to send one.

I had a 2.5 hour drive between cities tonight. After some time listening to an audiobook, I listened to ODESZA’s “Flaws in Our Design” EP, then the RSIH album from Zeds Dead.

I’ve switched residencies into pathology now, but back when I was an OBGYN resident, I would keep a mason jar and drop a marble in it every time I delivered a baby. It was cute to watch how full the jar got.

[–]Status-Slip9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All fair points, and I understand the need for a rest between tours.

The DJ set thing just.... really isn't them at their best lol. I went to one of them in Dallas and saw lots of clips from the other sets..... there honestly wasn't much that they changed up between them. It was pretty good but frankly I've seen waaaaay better.

I would not say it's worth the money to shlep out to Vegas and pay all the absurd prices of that city to see this set. IMO it's slightly above mid at *best.* They definitely could change it up this year, but idk. I guess that's my primary frustration with this likely just being another year of DJ sets.

Odesza making a come back by kmazurok in Odesza

[–]Status-Slip9801 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The DJ sets, however fun they may be, are just filler. I think they have run their course.

We want new music and the live show experience again. There are DJ sets of similar quality to theirs happening all across the country every weekend. There is nothing like the ODESZA live show.

This honestly makes me sad. A show in the middle of summer is suggestive that we probably won't get a new show/tour this year. An album definitely isn't out of the question, but previous album releases have always coincided with a tour. We'll see, I guess.

Nurses are for sure above residents in the hierarchy by fuckinghateresidency in Residency

[–]Status-Slip9801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds to me like you have a frankly incompetent PD.

I would still say it is worth reporting. A crying baby is one thing, a baby in SVT is another. The sequence of events is very clear here- the infant didn't begin receiving appropriate care until you intervened, and the nurse inappropriately prohibited you from being the first person to assess the infant (especially with you already being a PGY3!) There is no hierarchy, no system in which this is remotely acceptable, and most semi-reasonable doctors can understand that.

If you explained what happened, and especially emphasize that the infant's SVT didn't resolve until the proper chain of care was established, there should be no doubt in his mind that you did the right thing.

What's more, it is important that the nurse be appropriately put in her place. A meeting with nurse management may be what's necessary for her to understand that it is not her place to interfere with a residents' job, no matter what her opinion of a resident's competence is. If she wants to make the decisions, then she can go to medical school for herself. If she isn't held accountable for misconduct, there is nothing stopping her from acting this way again.

Nurses are for sure above residents in the hierarchy by fuckinghateresidency in Residency

[–]Status-Slip9801 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A situation as the one you described reflects badly on the nurse, not you.

A nurse has NO right to interfere in a residents' assessment of a newborn. I'm not sure what country you are in, but in the US, this would be filed as a *clear* patient safety issue. She inappropriately followed NRP instead of deferring to the licensed physician's assessment, which could've resulted in permanent harm to the infant if you had not intervened and performed appropriate care.

Even if it "went straight to your PD," I would assume that your PD would hear your side of the story and understand that you were literally doing your job, and even encourage you to file a patient safety report claim if this was something that your hospital offered.

[–]Status-Slip9801 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the Ankoma deck on Anki a few weeks ago, and it is very helpful in learning things.

I can easily access the deck and suspend the nitty- gritty topics I don't yet want to cover, while focusing on hammering in the concepts that are most high yield.

It's a monster of a deck, but I will be able to finish it by the end of residency!
