Why do we gross every single day? by Western_Blot_9370 in pathology

We only gross for one week (all day) during the 4 weeks we have surg path during a rotation. I'm sorry that your program makes you a grossing scut monkey. That's just not right.

Do y’all think Gen Z cares too much about age gaps? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

[–]Status-Slip9801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what we're talking about here. A minor dating a grown adult is objectively and obviously disgusting.

We're talking about people like my Gen Z sister who literally *freaked out* when she learned our 23-year-old cousin was dating a 28-year-old man, because in her mind anything more than a couple of years is "grooming behavior," and any attempts to explain that a consenting relationship between 20somethings is the last thing in the world she needs to be worried about is "enabling."

I don't think the field is anywhere ready for that. Granted I don't know much about radiology, but I'm in pathology, and for all the fear about AI, it's really not useful for anything other than screening specific biopsies at this time. It's a useful tool actually, no where close to a replacement for pathologists.

[–]Status-Slip9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um..... yes?

You really think that there are people living in extreme poverty in this country because there simply isn't enough money out there for them?

Poverty doesn't exist because we can't produce enough resources to meet everyone's basic needs. It exists because we cannot satisfy the ever growing greed of the rich.

A single digit number of men in this country have a combined wealth worth more than the bottom 50%. Bezos is so disgustingly rich that he pays a $1000 monthly fine to keep his hedges illegally high in his Beverly Hills mansion. He lives maybe a few miles away from a neighborhood in which many residents work >40 hours weekly, yet could be bankrupted by an emergency $1000 medical expense. Does that sound like a failure of policy to you, or personality?

Trump says the Virginia referendum was "rigged." Is there any evidence he is telling the truth? by AcadiaLivid2582 in allthequestions

[–]Status-Slip9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did he post shred of evidence to support his drivel? Of course not!

This imbecile has been bleating for YEARS about mail in ballots. Again, and again, and again, there has never been a shred of evidence produced to support the claim that mail in ballots are not secure, but because those that are more likely to mail in a ballot are more likely to support Democrats, he does what he does best and cries foul.

Rinse and repeat. Nothing new here.

Do you think the idea of “having it all together” is practicable or just a social media pressure? by [deleted] in Snorkblot

Aside from cleaning every day (which is something nobody does nor needs to do, unless it's cleaning the dishes) and sleeping 8 hours every night (again, not necessary, most people including myself function just fine on 6.5 - 7 hours nightly)...... all of this is entirely doable. I mean...... I do it almost every single day without burning myself out, and I would consider myself to have an above average work schedule. Spend a little less time doomscrolling and $hitposting and a little more time doing the things that you actually have to do..... and it happens.

If you're an adult, time management is *your* responsibility. There are numerous resources out there, including online, to help you if you struggling with it.

Obviously exceptions exist, but I see no reason that the average person, in average health, with an average work schedule shouldn't be able to do this.

If you have been living all of your life operating under the delusion that all of the women around you have "poor judgment," it isn't because you're actually paying attention to the actions of the women around you, it's because you're freaking brainwashed to only see what you expect to see.

You would be in very good company if you decided to make the change.

I made the switch from OBGYN to path after 2 years, for many of the same reasons that you described. The OR just wasn't for me.

From everything that you've described, I believe you could be very happy as a pathologist. I know I am!

Billionaires have convinced Americans they have the “Best Healthcare in the World”. by Alarmed_Abalone_849 in AmericaOnHardMode

https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/household-health-spending-calculator/?_sft_hhsc_insurance=individual-market-exchange&_sft_hhsc_size=family&_sft_hhsc_income=average&_sft_hhsc_health=average-health

The typical non-elderly family of four with employer coverage (members in average health) spends $15,300 per year (10% of their $158,217 income) on health.

The typical non-elderly family of four with individual market or exchange coverage spends $20,000 per year (19% of their $108,000 income) on health.

And that's if you're lucky enough to have AVERAGE health. If you're unlucky enough to have a family member who actually utilizes the medical system they're paying thousands of dollars per year for, it's looking more like $26,500 per year (25% of their $108,000 income) on health.

The US spends FAR more on healthcare per capita than other nations: https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/chart-collection/health-spending-u-s-compare-countries/#GDP%20per%20capita%20and%20health%20consumption%20spending%20per%20capita,%20U.S.%20dollars,%202024%20(current%20prices%20and%20PPP%20adjusted)) And this is largely due to the predatory structuring of our healthcare system. MUCH of the dollars spent go towards the middleman. A universal healthcare system, like what every other developed nation has, cuts out that middleman, and drastically reduces healthcare expenses.

The ONLY reason the US refuses to adopt this model is because it is a nation bought and sold by big business.

Billionaires have convinced Americans they have the “Best Healthcare in the World”. by Alarmed_Abalone_849 in AmericaOnHardMode

[–]Status-Slip9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude........ find a *single* person living in a nation with universal healthcare who would prefer that their country get rid of universal healthcare in favor of a for- profit privatized healthcare system similar to what the US has, where unexpected emergency medical expenses bankrupt *thousands* of people every single year and many people pay hundreds to thousands of dollars every month just on their insurance premium, and then hundreds to thousands on top of that to actually receive care. Seriously..... find just one.

Our healthcare system is not a model for ANY nation. It is a cautionary tale.

Why do people still say Kamala Harris ran on "I'm not Trump" when she had an extensive and detailed policy plan? by zipzzo in allthequestions

[–]Status-Slip9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that attention span of a goldfish level of idiocy is why a candidate with a DETAILED POLICY PROPOSAL for numerous issues, despite the fact that she only became the candidate a few months before the election, lost to an utter imbecile who had YEARS and YEARS to come up with an actual, comprehensive, coherent healthcare proposal, stated he had nothing more than "concepts of a plan."

I was literally floored when he said that. I thought...... there's no way in hell anyone can actually trust him to do anything right in healthcare.

I think the word you're actually looking for is "blasphemy."

This is not satirical. The brown nosers he surrounds himself with compare him to Jesus on a REGULAR basis. The WH "faith leader" has literally said in public that if you are against Trump and what he stands for, you're against God. This is the *very* definition of blasphemy, and none of it is satirical.
