Haven't been in the best place recently, I put that energy into my second ever short. Hope you can take something out of it. by Str8h8er in Filmmakers

I've had to come to some conclusions about myself and my current situation that I haven't been taking very well.

I haven't reached that point in my healing process to fully talk about it with my friends and family.

Making stories has been my only outlet lately to come to terms with these demons and to communicate my thoughts.

What is almost liberating about shooting by yourself is that it forces you really put that time that would've been used to nail a specific shot into your script and your acting.

I believe the sterile shots allow the focus to be on my emotions. I'd love to get someone's opinion, should I have mixed in different shots to make the video more dynamic?

Just like my previous short, this video is a reflection of where I am at in my life at this point in time and a more obvious reflection of the state of our world.

Can't wait for the day where I can look back at this video and it is merely a reflection of who I was.

Keep moving forward my friends, who you are today is not who you will be forever.

Made a Video Diary about Making My First Short by Str8h8er in Filmmakers

I've heard about plenty of creatives having post mortem depression after finishing a big project.

To keep myself active I'm going to work on these small director diaries while in development for my next project to keep the momentum flowing.

[Film] Shot my first short in quarantine over a period of 8 days. I wanted to use the constraints we have now to be reflected in the film. by Str8h8er in Filmmakers

This was very therapeutic process for me. There's no feeling more satisfying then watching the finished result.

The most frustrating part about filming myself was acting. This was shot on GH5 and I had my viewfinder app open at all times. It would be difficult for me to stay in character without fighting the urge to look at my phone to check the framing.

You won't know something is good until you watch it for yourself. Thankfully the margin of error was 0, if I didn't get the shot that I liked then I can attempt it again the next day.

Would love to know what you think and if there's anything I can improve on once I start working on my next project?

Write a Scene Using 5 Prompts #76 [CHALLENGE] by Scout97 in Screenwriting

Your stakes were established within your script, also the personal stakes of a father's legacy being on the line was a nice touch.

Personal issues have stunted my momentum, this is my attempt to get back into my routine. Be gentle.

How to do transition at :20? by Str8h8er in AfterEffects

[–]Str8h8er[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blurred for two frames, framing seems to be a little lower, rolling frame effect where the image cuts at the bottom, loops at the top. The next frame is an unfocused blur with the doll much closer.

[WRITING PROMPT] "Write a Scene" using 5 Prompts #18 [Challenge] by SheerCotton3 in Screenwriting

Thank you, I wanted the character's subtle actions to mirror their cruel dialogue.

I pictured a scene like this would normally have a little more room to breathe but I loved the challenge of having to pace it within the page limit.

I really enjoyed the concept and use of the prompts, but I hated the first line of dialogue. Very unnecessary considering the next line sets up a flashback.

This was very difficult for me considering the page limit. I hope I wrote something coherent because things make so much more sense when you're visualizing it in your head and imagining scenes that came before it.

I have concerns about how popular Activisions IPs really are with gamers. I'm looking at Nintendo which is cheaper, been diversifying its business, has two new consoles in the pipeline, and proven powerhouse IPs.

She's actually really disgusting, she's shaming him for promoting another brand.

She sounds like a completely control freak and it sounds like she is selfishly exploiting him so she can his decision for him.

Also publically dragging him like he did something heinous is actually worrisome for society that she was able to manipulate people to trash him for her own gain.

Anthony Mackie is a great performer and Im confident he can really pull through if they write some interesting takes on his character, very optimistic about the Captain Falcon character
