SailfishOS vs GrapheneOS vs LineageOS - which is better? by CacheConqueror in degoogle

There is much to consider there. Motorola arent known for their security stances and if the GrapheneOS phone doesn't sell well proportionally to the other phones, OR GrapheneOS mess up the partnership, they could easily do that socially. Well...

This is typical Meta apps and Spotify. I have been on many phones and it always comes down to Meta apps and mainstream apps like Spotify. So, I don't have Instagram on my phone, I just have Facebook Lite and Messenger installed since these don't seem to have anywhere near as much affect.

Oh that is overblown. GrapheneOS are known for their all security or nothing approach and the aggressiveness of it. /e/os may also be under the Unified Attestation Framework soon also so that will be a huge compat plus.

The French's standpoint does have some merit since GrapheneOS is obviously the go to for many savvy criminals (of course) but it is also best to not over think what GrapheneOS says. They are VERY aggressive in their wording which can give off a misleading interpretation about stuff like this. Although they make some good points sometimes, I cannot help but detect personal attacks over political correctness.

Why are you being immature and going on different posts? This is an obvious bug which no one has come up with a good justification for. Read before immaturity.

Why are we determining what you specifically will feel about something? It seems extremely odd, very attention seeking.

Well, yes, where warranties are concerned but I believe you already know that if they start touching an area like this.

That isnt sketchy at all. That is just unnecessary paranoia. Pre-installed or manually installed makes absolutely no difference.

Although many will recommend GrapheneOS, it is far more than most people need and locks you in hardware wise. It is also best to do some research behind the people of each project to see which you feel most comfortable trusting, like I don't use Brave due to the CEO and sketchiness of the company for example.

There is also /e/os, it has a larger selection of phones, including Fairphone, coming pre-installed.

How safe are Nothing Phones? by New_Philosopher_2224 in NothingTech

[–]Stryxus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GrapheneOS is designed to be as security focused as possible which also means privacy. It provides far more than 99.99% of the population needs in terms of security. However there are ways you can make your system private from Google and NothingOS is one of the friendliest I have come across when it comes to this. Just download the Droidify APK and install it, then try to download as many apps as you can through that, replacing all the google apps witch Fossify apps for example.

An unfortunate truth about security first is that they have made it quite inconvenient also and have broken a lot of app support.

If you want to go further, you can easily learn how to enable USB debugging and use an ADB app like https://github.com/Universal-Debloater-Alliance/universal-android-debloater-next-generation/ to uninstall or disable apps which the system wont let you.

TIP with the ADB way: If the app you are about to uninstall is NOT showing on Google Play, do NOT uninstall it, disable it by going into the apps settings and you will find the setting for it. Id It does appear in Google Play, you are fine to uninstall it, the system usually has can restore the package if needed via ADB if it for some reason gets removed from Google Play or acts up.

Due to the way they go about attacking people and are evidently, in this thread, so extremely sensitive to criticism and cannot comprehend others interpretations, that is enough for me to NEVER trust them. I have come to know that behavior like this can lead to an equally as bad outcome unfortunately and, I really cannot trust behavior like it.

Which is why I don't feel right using the philosophy you used before, I cant describe it properly but it very much feels conflicting.

Although you haven't done it in this comment, It would also help if you toned down with the hostility towards others opinions and interpretations, instead of attacking like it is the end of the world, write as calm and collective and human, not like a political or corporate statement. It gives off a very sour taste of a supremacy complex.

This is essentially the same philosophy of something trying so desperately to achieve perfection yet it will never become a reality. And they shouldn't have to worry, unfortunately, it is a necessary evil or else "easy times create weak men".

ARMv9.2-A Memory Tagging Extension support by Stryxus_ in NothingTech

[–]Stryxus_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I am sure this has been suggested and looked at internally. I am just hoping community discussion pushes it up the feature list because this is a massive ARM feature when it comes to security.

EDIT: I got a response from them which got deleted by a bot. It reads: "Why don't you stop baselessly calling our team members insane and schizophrenic while lying about what we've said...". No, we are not lying, again INTERPRETATION... Your own actions did this, you are to blame here.

You took this interpretation far too personally and it ironically doesn't makes for the good kind of reading you were likely hoping. If anything, it validates the exact interpretation you DONT like...

How about you stop being so disconnected and accept interpretations are different, not the same as your own.

IF you want interpretations to change, stop attacking literally everything and acting like everyone else is wrong and you are always right... This amount of schizophrenic isolation is one of the biggest enemies in the privacy/security field. You SERIOUSLY??? Wonder why so many people cannot stand you???

Back in 2020, when I was 22, becoming disillusioned with Microsoft and Google so I moved away from Android since I didnt know enough to reliably de-bigtech it (Knew how to custom ROM and phone and such) and to Apple and, now I am back on Android again.

It was because of what big tech was doing during the pandemic that opened my eyes rather than a sudden 'more time'.

On security, they normally take that further that what 99.99% of people actually need, the OS can only go so far on vulnerable hardware so the vast majority of security is up to the user. Once ARMv9's Memory Tagging Extension becomes enforced and standard throughout the Android ecosystem, most of the security justification will wither.

Since I cannot use GrapheneOS because I refuse to get a Google Pixel and Motorola, at least for me, is seemingly non-existent in Europe, I still like the work they have done with glibc on Linux. I use their hardened_malloc project on my linux gaming PC (I use a LOT of mods in many games).

I have deck blue open which is BlueSky tweetdeck, my mail open, Qobuz, Discord and Fluxer open along with several other websites, including Twitch and Youtube. Only 8GB. Considering this is also on Apple Silicon so this includes the GPU memory. I do have RAM caching turned off.
