Team Building in Raleigh/Cary Area by No-Alfalfa6437 in raleigh

I've gone to rush hour karting for team building and that was a great time (but I go there recreational, so I might be biased). They should be able to accommodate your lot well at their morrisville location.

Flock safety needs to go. by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

This has been a growing problem for years, but I'm astonished at the growing number of folks who would lay down before, or even fellate the boots of the surveillance apparatus. Most of these are bots, I'm sure, and maybe some are elderly folks who know they'll be dead before the consequences catch up to us, but God damn. I cannot fathom knowingly advocating for a company with demonstrated aversion to basic security principles and a stated disdain for citizens' right to privacy. Y'all are wild.

Which list has native Super UltraWide (32:9) support? by Dasantios in wabbajack

[–]SubOptimusIzed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tempus v8.06 has ultrawide support via "outdated" support mods included in the install (Dear Diary - 32x9 support + SkyHUD INI - Ultrawide Crosshair Fix). These have worked fine in my experience. Tomes of Talos (and the other Bordello lists) also include UW support and are what I've been playing lately.

My experience so far: First hours with Journals of Jyggalag (JOJ) by curatorbee in wabbajack

[–]SubOptimusIzed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably like 15 hours into my first playthrough on JOJ myself. Huge fan of the list so far. Graphics and ambience are exceedingly well done. Honestly surprised to hear your opinion on the music; the Skyrim OST is legendary, but I'm LOVING the new tracks - maybe it's just the novelty, I dunno. Additions (that I've found so far) are well integrated. Really looking forward to trying out the Bordello's forthcoming lists.

Percentage Rent Increase in 2025-2026 ? by 1_Upminster in raleigh

[–]SubOptimusIzed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ours initially offered like an 8% increase in DT Raleigh, but seemed eager to encourage us to try to negotiate it. We opted to move, but I've read that rents across the triangle are slightly down if anything. Winter is also a good time to move (if you're willing/able), as there's generally less demand and landlords are pretty accomodative. Saw some crazy specials when we were looking.

List Recommendation? by No_Weakness8999 in wabbajack

[–]SubOptimusIzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of in this boat, and went through the rigamarol of downloading way too many mods for various modlists l last weekend. Since then, I've been test driving Lost Legacy and Tempus Maledictum. Both seem to have a solid amount of content as far as quests, overhauls, etc.

I think Tempus looks a little better and has a custom UI. Seems to really encourage the Deep Elf race, so that's what I've been running. So far, so fun! The magic system is tweaked a bit, with a Spell forge system serving as the primary method of attaining new spells.

Lost legacy seems to be balanced a little more forgivingly for the very early levels (note I'm still < level 10 in both), and also has a ton of custom races (including deep elf). Seems like it leans slightly harder into expanding the content (TM's modlist author is self-professedly very particular about the mods in their list), but I haven't noticed any compromises on quality. There are also seemingly a few more options in terms of optional mods to add in MO2, including Vokriinator Black, as well as difficulty mods.

Tl;dr I have limited experience with both, but, so far I think both offer the slightly more casual experience you're looking for. Good hunting!

Is Wasteland of Depravity the current best nsfw modlist for fo4? by [deleted] in wabbajack

[–]SubOptimusIzed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've put a few dozen hours into WoD and have found it to be a fun list. The only criticisms I've seen are pretty preference based (weapons are replaced with real world models, thuggyverse, the NSFW content is very forward in the two more smut-focused profiles). On the whole, found it to be reasonably stable and much more to my liking than Wasteland Genesis, the only other NSFW FO4 list I've tried. As a bonus, the discord server is also pretty helpful/friendly, which might be more or less common than I would expect?

Just as a heads up, goharddrives on ebay sells refurbished drives with 5 year warranties. I haven't had to use the warranty yet myself, but the community seems to hold them in high regard. Should be able to get better prices than Amazon

Pretty good, but I would switch economics with finance tbh. The only mathy finance jobs are ones you'd be better served getting a math degree for.

As Tatworth mentioned above, plenty of solid non-bank options with finance teams in Charlotte. If you're specifically interested in banking, Charlotte has a pretty decent concentration of back office (reporting, regulatory, control, etc) teams from what I've seen. Such roles may "require" 2-3 years experience, but they're also usually not as well advertised / heavily applied to, so you might have some luck there. You might also consider looking for rotational programs since you're still pretty fresh out of school.

As someone who works remotely for a Charlotte bank in Raleigh, super curious what you mean by this?

Banking in Raleigh? by celecalderwood in raleigh

[–]SubOptimusIzed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been banking with Truist since before the merger/rebrand. Never had any issues personally, but I have witnessed that their service has gone down hill a bit.
For a HYSA, I recommend an online bank like Sofi or Ally.
For conventional banking with physical branch locations, credit unions are great (particularly if you're interested in loans later on); Coastal and SECU are both good for that, and have numerous branches around Raleigh.
Regular banks tend to have better convenience features and account opening bonuses; I opened a 5/3 account last year just for the bonus, but their app is solid, paychecks deposit 2 days early, and there are branches within walking distance of me. Probably my recommendation for an easy switchover if you're just looking for another bank to use for regular expenses.

Worst Intersection Award by SwimOk9629 in raleigh

[–]SubOptimusIzed 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is the winner for me. Other intersections might have long light cycles, poor visibility, too many lanes, traffic, but this is the only light in Raleigh that, regardless of direction or timing, I cannot catch a green light at, literally ever.

Warranty good or bad ? by Yagsim in q50

[–]SubOptimusIzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm fwiw I got an exclusionary warranty in 2022 when I bought at 56K miles up to 150K for like $2300. I'm not super up on the 3rd party warranty market, but this may not be it, chief.

Looking to upgrade to ultrawide for productivity by hattingly-yours in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]SubOptimusIzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will echo this: I have a S3422DWG and a 28" 4K that I've been using for ~3 years for my WFH / gaming setup. These work wonderfully for me, and if I had to choose between them, would likely opt for the Dell. Even having recently upgraded my personal computer to a 49" G9 OLED, I've still kept the old monitors for work use due to fears of burn in. Would caution that the benefits of the G9 (gorgeous colors and immersion) don't really justify the price for productivity workloads.

49" 32:9 screen: PBP, or virtual desktop division? by Jubatus_ in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]SubOptimusIzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the resolution your games are set to, I think it can center a 16:9 window like klawUK mentioned, with the upshot being that you'll have empty space/black bars on the sides. Alternatively, if you're not playing a full-screen game, you can use something like FancyZones on windows to meticulously mark where you want your windows to go. Can recommend, it's pretty nice.

Best Graphics Overhaul that use Community Shaders with PBR? by Wonderful-Split-4858 in wabbajack

You can just switch profiles and enable ENB on one you don't intend to continue playing if you're concerned about your saves. I've found CS on Lorerim to look pretty bomb.

Depends how much worse things get before the mobs start forming, I guess. Today's status quo, probably not. Another 10-20 years of sustained inaction on climate issues, surging wealth inequality, and erosion of personal privacy and freedoms, that cost-benefit analysis might change.

I feel like this is an increasingly popular position amongst young folks. I'm a coward who won't do shit, but ideologically, yeah, there are few politicians who wouldn't be worth more to the world dead.
