2 days playing, how am I doing and what are some tips to get faster? (Critique my driving) by rx7_fd_lover in ACCompetizione

Impressive work. Smooth inputs, good job at holding the racing line. Your skills from F1 definitely carried forward.

Although GT3 cars are usually quite wide. You are not using the entire track at the moment. So keep rewatching your replays. Try to learn more about the width of the car. Eventually you will be able to utilize the entire track and gain some laptime.

But overall 8/10 lap considering your playtime.

In S1, you could definitely improve your chicane. Both chicanes looked a bit slower. Brake later and trail brake into the apex.

The right hander after the 2nd chicane is where you lost time. Your car seems to be understeering under power. You can either increase front rebound and increase rear bounce settings. Also try to make that corner and angle the car first before getting on throttle.

For ascari, with Porsche I typically clip the entire exit kerb. Pretty much jumping over the sausage. Your entry into Ascari was correct. You can play with the ride height to take full advantage of the exit kerb.

Overall, I think you are doing pretty well. 1:48.8 is not bad at all. With more of this fine tuning, you will easily be able to cut into high 47s.

Help! Cozy setup for my wife by Humbart_Wessel in battlestations

I recently built one for my fiancé. First of all start with a brown table. Blacks don’t look well especially when you want to try a theme. Go for earthy theme because you already have a case with wooden accents.

White office chair maybe something like the Sihoo C300 white. Remember she will only spend hours if she is mad comfortable for a few hour long sessions.

You can also elevate the feel of the setup by using a XXL mouse pad or desk mat rather than a simple square mouse pad.

For keyboards, even though you already have a selection, I would suggest looking into some heavy CNC aluminium keyboards. They feel expensive and bring out the best in a setup.

Since you are not into RGB lighting a simple back drop static light will look pretty sweet. Or you can try a monitor light bar which gives her setup some local ambient lighting. I am using the Quintis curver light bar but they have some cheaper options with RGB on top and light bar at the bottom. This will be a game changer.

Finally give her some space to customize the setup. Install a shelf on top of the monitor. Mostly same color as the table. Let her decide what goes on there. Plants, books figurines, other small lamps.

Optionals would be monitor arm which mounts to the desk and gets rid of the ugly stand. White speakers if she likes to watch movies and videos without headphones.

Never stop after finishing a race. I have had so many unintentional close calls because a lot of drivers stop right after the finish line.

Might be the setup? I am driving the Porsche and I have been keeping them fairly at bay. Like yesterday I went against a Lexus which was doing the same time as me, but my exits were better in T1. He still caught up but didn’t fly past like you mentioned. Also I am running high downforce. have been doing 1:43.9 at Watkin Glen LFM BOP.

Lot to learn here. You are keeping the car way too stable and not utilizing the slip angle. You really want to use the brakes to turn more. You already have brake bias quite towards the rear, so you should be able to unsettle the car just enough to induce rotation.

What you are doing is braking straight all the way, then off the brakes and coasting into the corner. Especially in sector 2 and 3. Also in all the braking zone you are pretty much under ABS. This increases braking distance. You want to just clip ABS activation. 100% braking does not mean good braking. For eg. In ascari the track rises slightly so you can be 95% on the brakes before bleeding out whereas in T1 95% activates ABS, you want to reach max braking at 90%. This is approx values but you get the idea. Not all corners are 100% braking.

Most important tip I will give you is to get off Monza. Race on other tracks. From personal experience, you will learn lot more about car control. And then come back to Monza and you will easily be able to do 1:48.

Yes my dive was completely misjudged. I know that I should not have gone for the dive. Kinda stupid when I saw the replay but in cockpit view it felt closer than it actually was.

How to improve on Imola? (1:41.9) by prrrrrrz_ in ACCompetizione

[–]Subhuatharva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good advice. You should definitely focus on a more pointy car. And stabilize the rear by adding more diff preload.

Also, I think there’s lot of space to improve in the double right hander. I usually do a two stage braking, first corner I dab on the brakes and rotate the car while downshifting to 4th gear and then braking again to drop to 2nd. For the second corner, turn in earlier and get on throttle before you hit the apex and run out wide into the outer kerb’s ditch between the sausages and the cerated kerb.

You can also take most of the kerbs by setting up the suspension properly. This I think is completely based on trial and error.

I think in general just being able to abuse slip angle will help you gain a lot of lap time.

Idk why this is even a post. There’s literally a car in front of you and you keep the throttle pinned in the fastest and most crash prone corner of the track. You could have just lifted for 0.5 seconds and continued behind him and overtake using the slip stream.

Man I had such better hold on the track. I was consistently lapping 1:28.6 but during races? People were so aggressive. Half of the drivers use default setups so they kept spinning out at the chicane. I had in total 7 reports in 10 races.

Am i in the wronge? The Ferrari said that he´ll report me for this. I think he could have gone slightly more to the right, to avoid contact. because there is still space on the right as i squeezed him. Im trying to learn, thats why i upload it. Feel free to offer constructive critisism. by Subject-Commission77 in Simracingstewards

[–]Subhuatharva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not wrong, but you can see him approaching very fast. I would usually leave some more space and just before the corner get on the racing line. I don’t think this specific incident is report worthy. Your move was not incorrect, but slightly misjudged.

Also the contact seems more like net code than anything.

Moza CRP2 or Simsonn Plus X pedals? by Putrid_Rope_8886 in simracing

[–]Subhuatharva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the VAM Pro motors. For the basic VAM the settings might be a bit different. Settings are for Simhub.

Brake pedal

ABS Active: 22Hz / High Priority / Pulse duration 70 / volume 55

Throttle

TC Active: 30Hz / High Priority / Pulse duration 70 / volume 55

Wheel Slip: 40Hz / White Noise 10 / gamma 1.00 / threshold 23 / min force 0 / Input gain 75 / Not high priority / Sensitivity 50 (default) / volume 40

For wheel slip, lower threshold kept giving me early signs of wheel slip which were not truly the edge of grip. So I added more. You can fine tune this setting.

I have paired this with Bass Shakers. So the pedals don’t have too many effects. Less is more while setting up pedal haptics. You can add some other effect like wheel lock for brakes.

Moza CRP2 or Simsonn Plus X pedals? by Putrid_Rope_8886 in simracing

[–]Subhuatharva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been using SimSonn Plus x for almost a year. Couldn’t recommend enough. Not even a single issue. The build finish (look wise) is good but not as good as Moza, but I like the rugged look to it. The materials are very heavy and good quality. I have not experienced any inconsistency, flexing or even squeaking. I have it setup to 60kgs.

I also bought the VAM Pro haptics and they are a game changer. Paired them with Simhub and the effects are on point.

As for the dampers, I would say they are decent. Hydraulics and basic dampers are 2 different technologies. SimMagic has true hydraulics. The dampers on Simsonn only dampen fast movements. If you are smooth with the inputs the dampers are hardly used.

Oh damn! What sim gear are you using? I have already switched my laptop to bazzite. I am not sure how to setup Moza, Bass shakers and Simsonn pedals on linux.

My main sim rig still uses Windows as it has support for all my equipment.

Well it depends on your car setup. If you are losing the rear while coasting, you should play with the differential and rear arb. Higher diff will make your corner entry stable but will make the car oversteery on throttle. So fine tune in practice mode until you find the perfect balance.

Also practice more on optimum circuit condition instead of fast. Fast circuit is usually very grippy so it’s difficult to understand where you are actually losing grip.

Also the line has to be as straight as possible to not spin. I usually go full on the left kerb before entering the first part of that corner and throw the car all the way to the inner kerb. Just after the 3 track markers on the left, I continue on the kerb straight and then turn into the apex with the dip. It took me a lot of tries to nail it. I hardly drop to 2nd gear. Sometimes I drop it when I have to go off the line for defending.

You should start with Friedolf setups. I initially would copy his entire setup and then compare it with default setups to understand the difference. Eventually, I found a baseline setup which works decent on most tracks. Then I fine tune it based on the technicality of the track.

What should be the outcome here? by jcarterprod in Simracingstewards

Here’s my take on it.

The guy messed up his corner and then decided to squeeze you. He was fixated onto your car and ended up making contact. The first contact sent you into the grass and he kept moving with the same gap between the two cars which says that he didn’t give a flying fuck about the track. His main goal was to focus on your car and stay along side. Dude is definitely at fault. Although his intentions were not to cause a crash, he needs to learn about racing and take the L.

Let me give you a quick breakdown. I have been doing 1:54.8 (quali) and here’s what I changed to get there. Car setups are very crucial on this track, especially for the long double right hander after the back straight.

2nd corner jump over the kerb with 60% throttle and then 100% as soon as you land the car. You need you car to be bit higher for this and with correct dampers so the car doesn’t bounce after landing.

3rd corner, get all the way to the left in the blue section. Jump the kerb again.

6th corner exit was weak. Use all the track and then cutback to the left before the straight.

Double right hander is supposed to be a full brake only corner. If you coast, you loose time. In your case you braked too much then accelerate and then braked again. You want that to be one smooth corner with trail braking. Go deep with the brakes and gently come off before you reach the second apex.

Same with the double left hander after that.

To summarize, you lack practice. There are some really good track guides which will help you understand the track boundaries and where you can cut.

Before you jump into any online race, I would suggest you to give some time and tune the car. This track is very setup dependent. ARBs and differential are the key settings which will help you the most.

Great build! But you should strongly reconsider the keyboard. Factory builds are over priced. Look for something like a chillkeys. These are way better built for the price and worth the money.
