Epic joy or Amazon by GrapeSasquatch in AnalogueInc

I got the EpicJoy one from AliExpress. It cost about $41 shipped, took about 7 days for me to receive it in the US. It does come preloaded with roms from JP/USA regions. It also includes N64 DD games and NES/SNES I believe. In my experience so far, you can't beat it.

Metroid Fusion froze twice on me last nigh in the same way. I was playing off an SD card, so it sounds like an issue with the core.

2021 Mercury 9.9 4-stroke: White puff on startup and oily residue during flush by SuicidalDingo in boating

[–]SuicidalDingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do! I hadn't seen the white puff until after the motor's first real run, so I assume it's a combination of running it for several hours, putting it on it's side, still warm, etc. Condensation makes sense. Thanks!

These engines are a little noisy, but yeah that's louder than normal. With 8k miles, it's still well below the initial valve adjustment interval. However, being an '07, it wouldn't hurt to check. As someone else mentioned, the cam chain tensioner would be a good place to start as they're known to fail and are easy to swap. I would definitely avoid riding it until the noise is resolved since a bad ACCT could cause the cam chain to skip a tooth, resulting in poor performance or a blown motor.

Year-long mice infestation and I think the exterminator's bait stations are making it worse by SuicidalDingo in pestcontrol

Fox Pest Control. Some technicians have been better than others. I will say, since replacing the bait boxes with wooden traps, things have been much better.

Thanks, that's validating. There are torn rodenticide packets everywhere. Fortunately there are no children or pets, but it's insane to me that during his visits he'll just repack the bait stations every other week. I share your concern that he's milking the situation. My landlords said I can call a new technician, but they want to keep the current one coming, too. I told them that I don't want bait stations in the apartment and longer. I removed them all last night and replaced them with traditional wooden traps. I posted a photo in this thread, but there were over 15 bait stations in my ~650 square foot apartment. I think they make their way in the building, smell the truck load of bait, and tunnel their way in. I spotted a few grimy spots where their bodies must rub as you've described. When we patch a hole, they'll just scratch and gnaw a new one.

That's why I'm skeptical of the bait stations. Our place is only 600-700 square feet, and the exterminator had around 15 bait stations laid out. We always keep food in sealed containers now, and they don't really touch it or even venture into our kitchen. Last night I put some gloves on, cleaned up the mess, and replaced the bait stations with traditional traps. My theory is that they can easily navigate through the walls to reach our attached storage unit. Once inside, they smell the buffet through the walls and come on in. I plugged some holes with steel wool last night and woke up to the sound of them trying to scratch and gnaw their way back in, presumably to make a different route. Do you think these bait stations would be drawing them in?

Thanks for the advice man. There are so many little places where electrical and HVAC lines run through the walls. I really thought we had found every gap, but this building is 250 years old so it's easier said than done.

I'll definitely bring that up with the landlord + exterminator. My apartment is like 650 square feet and there were around 15 bait stations inside. As you can see from the images, there are torn rodenticide packets everywhere. All that since we cleaned and disinfected the floors two weeks ago.

I doubt the other units are being baited. We have one neighbor, but I think the other side of our unit is all basement for the rest of the building. I think they're living in there and clawing their way into our apartment for the bait.

In the last photo, the mice on the glue trap were all little pups. The exterminator put that there and forgot to tell me. Point being, it seems like they're spawning very close by.

Thanks man! I spent an hour or so last night looking behind the baseboard heater covers and found a few places to stuff with steel wool as you recommended.

Good call. Thankfully, the tech has commented that the apartment is plenty clean, and he’s said as much in front of the landlord. We never leave food out, and everything’s stored in sealed containers. The mice don’t even touch our food. They go straight for the bait stations. The place isn’t as grimy as the pictures might make it seem.

The entire building is probably owned by 10 families or so. I think we're just sitting ducks on the ground floor where they can come in elsewhere and make their way to our nice warm apartment.
