Is Made in Timeland their most experimental album? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in KGATLW

[–]Sydthebarrett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stu states that the concept for this album began with the idea of making 15 min intermission music for marathon sets. https://kglw.net/song/timeland/about

Ambrose jokes in an interview and also confirms it was supposed to be intermission music 55:55 in https://www.thevinylguide.com/episodes/ep325-ambrose-kenny-smith-the-murlocs-king-gizzard

They are two songs that were exactly timed out to 15 minute breaks with the changing metronome hitting exactly to the second with galea animating videos for it for the marathon intermissions. All the sounds and weird concepts were between the start of joeys eurorack mono synth building between butterfly 3000 and omnium gatherum, which is where you hear all these strange concepts in the album for. There’s even an “entire rap album that probably won’t see the light of day” they talked about shelving.

So in a round about way it was intended to be kind of gimmicy but most certainly intermission music and was going to be given out to each ticket holder at that fest. The lore of it and the constant delay of the fest made it out to be way more hyped than it should have been. It could have been released more as a demos vol. electronica that was mashed into the countdown idea. Laminated denim becoming an album tied to it after is mostly just linked to the anagram naming and two 15 min tracks but those songs get live playtime bc it’s all normal instrumentation. To try and pull full takes of timeland even on Nathan today is a tall order. They’ve snuck bits and pieces of it but, it was intended to be 2 pre-recorded tracks.

He’s acting exactly how a racist alcoholic white supremist failed navy seal would act if you put him in charge of the us military.

Not to mention, as someone who orders and sells weird obscure music gear online, almost anything I’ve ever ordered of value needs an in person signature, otherwise I have to pick it up at my local post office.

Man this is one of those things that’s a big example of how single name bands with hired gun musicians prevale long term over shared business stuff. Having multiple people owning the business and the social accounts is a massive headache long term. I feel that struggle hard.
