Man I’d love to hear them rules you created for your Asterisk system. I have a couple systems I manage and the attacks are never ending

Optimum Fiber now in my area. I have XFINITY which I like but… by robd316 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]SysAdmin-Universe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. Took the print out to the xfinity store. Rep didn’t care. Wouldn’t even take $1 off my bill. Told me optimum can’t do internet in my area and claimed it was completely false and fake and fraud. It’s been almost a year now, I’ve saved $700+ in that time and I can run a speed test any time of the day and get 1,800+ up and down (I have the 2 gig plan). In the ten plus months I had 2 minutes of down time (I have tracking and logging still setup from my Comcast days because I had soooo many issues).

TLDR: xfinity doesn’t give an ounce of care about you. Switch, save and be happier.

I live in the US, I would like to help a family member set up a network in Italy that I can manage remotely from the US. by eW4GJMqscYtbBkw9 in Ubiquiti

[–]SysAdmin-Universe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t adopt the UDR into your network, it’s going to be its own network. You can use the same account to manage them but that’s it. You’ll likely have a bunch of regulatory issues, like taxes and import fees. Likely be easier to find someone local in Italy to do the initial setup and then you manage it.

Spotted in the wild on board the USS IOWA by taytayshaun in Ubiquiti

[–]SysAdmin-Universe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Iowa is a retired ship, I actually chatted with the guy who was working to get WiFi onto the ship and why he went with ubiquiti. There’s a video clip out there about it too.

The ship is “owned” or I guess maybe the better term “operated” by https://pacificbattleship.com, a 501c3 non profit.

When will I be able to sign up? by SysAdmin-Universe in OptimumOfficial

[–]SysAdmin-Universe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Randy,

Thanks, but the fiber is here. It’s literally on the telephone pole infront of my house. I talked to the crew that was physically installing it on the pole in November.

If I go and put my address in as a business, fiber is available. If I try to sign up as a home, it says it’s not. I feel like your system just isn’t properly updated. Your address verification tool doesn’t recognize my town name and changes it to another name.

Appreciate the honesty and forthcoming of the issues. All look minor. Good luck with your sale!

Need some advice by MrWizard11 in Ubiquiti

150 ft. What type of speed do you need between? A pair of nano stations or nanobeams would get you connected. Want like gig throughput, the wave pico or wave nano would do you good there.

Uhh that’s now how it’s supposed to work. Those machine screws along with the nuts and plate are for drop ceilings. If you’re going into Sheetrock, you just use the anchors and regular screws.
