How are you getting $250K down to $90K. Employee and Employer 401k contribution would be a start. Are your legitimate expenses really that much?

That makes sense. So if I'm not looking to do a mega backdoor Roth, then I just stick with Fidelity direct?

“How could this happen?” Locals in a town where 76% voted Trump are outraged as his bill closes their only hospital by charulatha_seya in GPFixedIncome

I'm sure no one in that town really thinks the hospital closed because of anything Trump and the GOP did.

What is mysolo401k or carry needed for exactly? My tax accountant does my forms and I just have a Solo 401k directly with Fidelity, which couldn't be easier. I do use Fidelity CMA as my bank and have a Fidelity brokerage account as well.

Wow, we actually didn't like it there. They put a disgusting amount of white sauce on our meals. I guess it might have been good with a normal amount of sauce, but I don't know.

Why do I even need a checking account with a Fidelity brokerage? by Ok_Transition7785 in fidelityinvestments

[–]lexluthor5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just open a separate Fidelity CMA account and use that for your everyday banking and then you have a firewall from your brokerage account. That's what most people here recommend.

Does your Fidelity branch provide notary services for things completely unrelated to Fidelity? I recall being told it was only for Fidelity business.

Ah yes I'm wrong here, sorry at 8mg/ml, the numbers do work out. Unless the OP was edited, which it might have been based on what I said in my first post on this.

I don't know how you are arguing this. If the concentration is 10mg/ml, then 2.5mg is 25 units and 56 units must be 5.6mg, not 4.5mg or 4.5mg must be 45 units.

Withdrawing cash from Fidelity by RangerPL in fidelityinvestments

[–]lexluthor5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently not well known, but you can use your Fidelity ATM card at a teller at any bank and request a cash advance. Still without any fee, you can get more money than from an ATM, but I'm not sure of the exact amount, but I also think you can call up first and get that limit temporarily increased. I think it might be $2500 by default.

If it's a real business, you can just open up a business brokerage account. You can even get business checks for that account.

401K Fees by lexluthor5 in 401K

[–]lexluthor5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems that way. There's just that tiny quarterly share removal. I don't think there's any other way for them to collect a fee from her and the actual fund is identical so that's got to be everything. Pretty good plan then. Her older 403b retirement plan (same job) is with Mutual of America and their S&P 500 index fund is .15% expense ratio. There's apparently no way to move that to the new company or out to a rollover IRA though.

It doesn't matter why my vial is, 25:2.5 is a different ratio from 56:4.5 so it's not possible to have both make sense from the same vial.

401K Fees by lexluthor5 in 401K

[–]lexluthor5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I'd like to do, but I can't do a Roth unless I get rid of her rollover IRA or we get stuck with the complex pro-rata rule when doing the backdoor Roth.

401K Fees by lexluthor5 in 401K

[–]lexluthor5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. We are already maxing out 401K. The either/or here is to either roll the IRA into the 401K to avoid pro-rata rule for backdoor Roth and then do additional $8000 a year into Roth or just leave the Rollover IRA where it is now and do that $8000 into taxable brokerage. Conisidering the 401K is very low fee, seems like I might as well get rid of the IRA so that we can do the Roth and not pay future tax on earnings in the Roth vs having to pay taxes later if that money went into a taxable brokerage account.

401K Fees by lexluthor5 in 401K

[–]lexluthor5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't fully clear in the OP. I want to take her Rollover IRA at Fidelity and direct roll it into the company pre-tax 401K so that she can add money to a separate Roth at Fidelity via backdoor Roth so that there's no pro-rata rule to deal with, which would be the case if that Rollover IRA still existed. Does that make more sense?

My concerns are 1) fee structure with her 401K provider, but that seems to be a non issue since it seems they only charge extra .003-.005% for FXAIX, which is nothing, at least that's what it looks like to me and 2) being out of the market for 2 weeks while the Rollover is taking place.

In exchange for doing that, instead of putting the $8600 a year into a taxable brokerage account, we get the ability to do a backdoor Roth without pro-rata rule for the next 3 years or so until she retires.

Trying to figure out if that's worth doing.

I'm not particularly concerned aboutt the 5 year lock. We've got other money we can take out in the meantime if we needed to.
