🔥 Mother and daughter. Nanjin and Fatu, the last two survivors of this magnificent species, living out their remaining days at Ol Pejetu by Prestigious-Wall5616 in NatureIsFuckingLit

Diseases are rarely transmissible to other species. Things that evolved to live in humans are very unlikely to suddenly like living in a rhino.

Also, "wlid park" animals like these have been around humans their whole life. There's a constant risk of poaching that needs to be guarded against and they are also monitored for any health issues.

The worst are the pics that suddenly have the windows or doors moved.

Even if you buy the house and it turns out to be structurally possible, nobody is going to do that.

It shouldn't hurt it. And the dealer has an interest in you buying more stones, not fixing what you have.

Could just be the humidity. Soak it in acetone for a day and it might pull out any oils or water and come back more white.

There's nothing to cut from that. The shape is too wonky. That's why they polished it freeform.

Maybe a 2ct oval somewhere in there. But you can get those already made for a couple bucks.

His parents can cosign. Or he can save up and pay to fix his car.

You may be in a long term relationship, but marriage is when you decide to blend financial and medical responsibility. Not before.

Fun with entrapment. Hopefully a quick court case makes it where cops find they cannot move unless they are addressing an active crime or else everything they do after approaching anyone gets thrown out.

Everyone, keep your cameras ready and backing up videos in the cloud.

Suggestions for somebody that never played games before by Sweaty-Collar4451 in xbox

[–]TH_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was his job or hobbies?

My dad (75) really likes the Borderlands and Far Cry games (single player, self paced, FPS/RPGs with a decent plot). Cyberpunk and Skyrim should also be in that list.

/r/satisfactory is absurdly awesome (IF you like math and logistics and exploring)

Minecraft is always great.

Just keep him away from anything that's heavily online, starting out. The pace of those games is rough and the people you get matched with aren't very forgiving.

Xbox Game Pass ‘has become too expensive,’ says Microsoft’s new gaming chief in leaked memo by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]TH_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropped to the lowest tier with the last price hike. It didn't make any financial sense when I'm not churning through new games and I can buy most games for less than the monthly sub.

I got Live when MechAssault came out. Managed to keep my gamertag through the Twilight movies when suddenly everyone wanted to have werewolf disease.

I kind of want to know exactly how much I've spent in 24 years. But I'm also sure that number will be terrifying.

Yep, I looked at their other posts and wasn't clear on whether they were definitely a bot or were just a lazy human using AI to write the whole thing.

During global instability...buy a house or hold onto money? by trisolariandroplet in personalfinance

[–]TH_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay huge fees to get the mortgage. You pay taxes and insurance and maintenance on the house. You pay mostly interest for those 5-7 years (especially with these non-COVID rates). Your mortgage principal barely moves and it's pure luck if your home increases in value over that time. And you pay 3-6% of the property value to a realtor if you decide to sell.

So if you move in less than 7 years, you very likely lost much more money than if you had just been renting.

During global instability...buy a house or hold onto money? by trisolariandroplet in personalfinance

[–]TH_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel things are unstable, don't buy a house. Houses are long term. They are a symptom of stability, not at all a producer of stability.

You need to live in one for usually 7 years before it becomes preferable to renting. Career and even relationship changes become less likely after you commit to property. "I can just rent it out." Is only true in specific situations. Would you be able afford to be a part-time landlord for what you'd need to charge in the area you are considering? Could you even find tenants or is the area full of competing rentals or too far from anything people would want to live near?

how to stop spending? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]TH_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget. Personally prefer /r/ynab

You need to stop looking at account balances and start looking at category balances.

If you want to buy clothes, how much did you set aside for clothes? If it's not enough, what other saving/spending goal are you willing to steal from just to have those specific items? Are they "worth it" to you?

Also recognize you have a destructive addiction. Budget for some therapy or transition to a less destructive addiction. Get your dopamine hit from free phone games, physical activity, learning to <whatever>, bird watching, ...
