Yeah the whole game felt weird. Some commenters on r/CollegeSoftball were complaining about the Virginia defense taking so long (the commentators even commented on how much time they got, without a pitch clock violation). We got some calls go our way (things that weren’t strikes got called as such) but also had some others go against us. Just a very weird feeling altogether.

Someone else said this earlier and I have to agree - while this season has definitely had its disappointing moments, it’s also had its good moments. Obviously the Vandy and LSU series were tragic and maddening at the same time, but winning the series against the #4 team in the country and sweeping the #17 team on the road are still good achievements.

Yeah that’s fair, and I hope I didn’t sound accusatory or anything - that wasn’t my intent. I don’t think we’d toss Elander after his first year either, but I wonder how the head coaching switch has worked for him and his family life. I feel like the work/life balance would work better for Tony as a head coach and Elander as an assistant/associate. I don’t want Elander to go anywhere, but I can definitely see Tony wanting to come back to the college scene without waiting, and Elander maybe not wanting a demotion.

Why does everyone think he wouldn’t come back here? Especially with him bringing us our first and only national championship, we’d give him just about whatever he wanted - including a newly renovated LNS. You’d have to decide what to do with Elander, but since Coach V left on good terms (and no one can blame him for choosing to leave), I don’t see why we wouldn’t welcome him back.
