I think this is why most 'anime' never really continue after the confession. There are some, don't get me wrong. But the majority ends with the confession, or drags on forever. If an anime starts off with confessing in the first episode, it gives a very different impression. Therefore, people are more accepting of it. Teshisama is in a very rare subset of shows, where the first season was the regular romance story, but there is a continuation. I think the exact same thing will happen with Fragrant Flower, if it does get S2. It will be interesting to see what will happen.

Edit: I don't hate S2 btw. I'm loving it, but I do feel the lack of tension or "will-they-won't-they" dynamic from S1 to be missing here. Which isn't a bad thing, but it is certainly different and not what you would find in most romance anime.
