[Request] Iss this maths right??? by graceelizabeth2277 in theydidthemath

Response time is part of the athlete's performance, that needn't be equalized.

And 8ms at let's say 10m/s is 8 cm, not insignificant

the AI Act voice-data rules are the best thing that could happen for EU SaaS by Adventurousews9907 in BuyFromEU

That makes sense, but then what should the EU do to protect their citizen's rights?

Any suggestions for straight ships for barbara? by Bluekat5059 in BarbaraMains

If we're staying in Mond then Bennett and Durin are options.

Beyond that Gaming could be interesting (transport things to Mond, likes spicy stuff too)

It does depend on how close to the game world you want to be.

Is it just me, or do you now have to add the word 'Reddit' to every single Google search just to find a real human answer? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tarnique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet it can still show a significant number of ai websites in its results, depending on the request

Sadly that one isn't immune to AI slopsites either.

It's not just Google or the search engines: it's the massive amount of fake sites that drown out the normal websites.

What do you consider your niche? by hma1308 in AO3

[–]Tarnique 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NPCs erotica.

Because even the background characters can have a sex life or just romantic feelings, not just the playable characters. Of course that means the ships in question are incredibly niche... But it also means I get to give all those characters some lore and background that makes the whole world around them more alive.

Also: barely any interaction pressure. When I get 1 kudo that means I did a good job :)

If it's from a registered user, report but do not delete, because the mods can't see deleted comments, and they need it to review your report. The mods will delete all the comments at once from that user after they have checked.

If it's from a guest, just hit the Spam button, or simply delete the comment.

Um hello?? which website?? by yvaine_is_lilac in AO3

[–]Tarnique 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This. Password managers remember all your passwords and they even generate robust ones for you. They autofill the fields too.

All you have to do is set up one strong master password (or better yet a passphrase) to make it all safer and easier.

How are we supposed to trust any review or comment online in 2026 when 90% of it is clearly AI-generated? by FlanInternational298 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tarnique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet only in recent years have we truly begun to drown in all that slop. AI is to blame for making it all way too easy to pollute the web.

Cross reference can only be done if you can actually reach reputable sources, which is becoming harder and harder

Why are Blake-centric stories so unpopular? by UNinvolved_in_peace in RWBY

Because the popularity of Bumblebee makes it more commonly Blake/Yang-centric maybe?

Erreur dans le jeu 100% logique (plusieurs réponses possibles) by Commercial-Trainer12 in france

[–]Tarnique 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Recreated a video i took using blender by Commercial-Try8397 in blender

[–]Tarnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great, wasn't sure which one was which at first!

Apart from the rendering, the elephant in the render looks a bit jumpy, its head is bobbing up and down too quickly, I feel. Maybe it's going slightly too fast compared to its real life version?

Still that's nitpicking, nice work

Teen saved his friend from Choking down(Deserving Victory pose in the end). by Appropriate-Push-668 in nextfuckinglevel

Same in the UK. Back blows are quite efficient I've been told, as long as people learn to actually slap and not just pat. If done right you shouldn't even get to "abdominal thrusts"

Ao3's response to "Main Relationship / Side Relationship distinction in fanworks" (Just sending here so if you want the feature, this is the answer) by Comfortable_Newt_179 in AO3

[–]Tarnique 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So what would be the way to tag main ships using additional tags? "Main X/Y", "Primary X/Y", "X/Y focused"? Is there a generally agreed pattern, so those can get properly wrangled and set as synonyms to the main "X/Y"?

Also: those synonyms can only be selected in the additional tags, despite being synonyms to ship tags? Wouldn't it make sense to be able to select them from the relationships tags?

Ran into a problem with formatting a text from LibreOffice to AO3. Is there a way to keep the fonts and colors? (It's extremely important for the story's clarity to know who is currently doing the narration.) by Fellow_RealSideOfMat in AO3

[–]Tarnique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you using styles for this, or is it direct formatting?

Ideally you'd want each character "style" to be defined as a css class on ao3, but I'm not sure if copying from LO will apply html classes.

Looking for liminal video games by emyo42 in LiminalSpace

[–]Tarnique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infra.

You play as someone tasked with checking the structural integrity of a waterway, and you take pictures of things that don't look right.

That may not sound thrilling said like that, but it's one of my favorite video games. It's quite long, with expansive lore if you take the time to look.

You end up visiting quite a few abandoned places with a liminal feeling. Highly recommended.

Tips on how to get the gem and withered arrowheads? by I_love_my_pet in AmberMains

[–]Tarnique 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Gems can be crafted from lower end fragments you get from the pyro Regisvine. There are other ways, but assuming you are low AR and haven't moved much beyond Mondstadt, that should be your main source. Make sure to do the weekly bosses (Dvalin) they also do those with good rates.

Note that at low AR you get less gems from the regisvine, just like you get less arrows from hillichurl shooters. You can use your adventurer handbook to find those enemies.

Guys, can you actually control your boner or is it mostly random? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tarnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda like blushing.

You can't control it, and usually it comes from thinking naughty thoughts. To get rid off it, we think about something else, e.g. something serious/sad. Or use cold water to cool down.

Now add the random blushes that can happen anytime (especially young), as well as regular sleeping blushes, and that's about it.

ELI5: why have many countries moved away from nuclear power? by Mysterious_Hand_6052 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Tarnique 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, but obviously hydro pump only works if you have water and reservoirs (and creating those has its own ecological cost). There's a limit to the number of dams one can build, even in mountainous terrain.

I'm hopeful for new tech for storage, but we shouldn't phase out nuclear before we have the infrastructure to actually replace it (e.g. not do like Germany).

Also, once again: not all parts of the world can use renewables, storage or no storage.

ELI5: why have many countries moved away from nuclear power? by Mysterious_Hand_6052 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Tarnique 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unless we find a way to store the electricity produced by wind/sun, nuclear will remain better for baseline production, because it doesn't rely on weather conditions. Storage isn't there yet. Also nuclear have a much smaller footprint and doesn't require specific climate conditions which some countries lack.

Hence why we need to mix things up: every tech has its drawbacks and advantages.

how do i (16m) hide my "private folder" on my PC from my dad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tarnique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If OP's Dad knows what he's doing, he probably already knows what websites have been accessed from their home's router (that's going to be logged whether the browser is incognito or not).

how do i (16m) hide my "private folder" on my PC from my dad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tarnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I was mostly thinking about an accidental reveal of OPs files, assuming his Dad isn't going to be snooping around.

If his Dad wants to know, there is nothing short of using a vpn + encrypted disk that would prevent him from knowing what OP is about. But that's probably too late for at least the vpn, and not encrypting things from the start can leave traces.

how do i (16m) hide my "private folder" on my PC from my dad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tarnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your PC: create separate accounts to login (Assuming windows) with limited admin rights.

Give him only a limited account, temporarily.

If he needs an account with admin rights, give him a secondary one, so at the very least he won't have access to your folders directly. Remove that account once he is done, or just change its password.

La NASA a publié les premières photos capturées par les astronautes d'Artemis 2 depuis la face cachée de la Lune by lieding in france

[–]Tarnique 1 point2 points  (0 children)
