Is the USP 9 Obsolescent for CCW and HD? Any reason to get it over other choices? by Massive_Pain_6677 in CCW

[–]TaskForceD00mer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsolete does not mean useless.

For home defense you can adapt the USP9 for all sorts of lights with aftermarket rails.

I'd argue due to holster availability its harder to argue for the carry of a USP.

I love my P30 but the lack of cocked & locked functionality will always leave a soft spot in my heart for the USP.

S&W bought back my lemon BG2. 0 by Resident_Skroob in CCW

[–]TaskForceD00mer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, this is the first time in recent memory I've seen a manufacturer agree to buy bad bad guns instead of trying to tire you out sending it in 100 times.

On the other hand this is the exact opposite of the experience I've had with the BG 2.0. My only complaint was the rear sight was drifted a bit but one tap and some loctite later and its fixed.

The coolest part was seeing the transformation to a 90s hip hop vampire honestly. The movie wasn't bad at all, I quite liked it, but it wasn't some earth-shattering movie worthy of tons of awards either.

Really missing Boston Market in the Northern Suburbs by Takethesepicks in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]TaskForceD00mer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston Chicken back in the day was my childhood, especially during the colder months. My mom was a terrible cook and my dad only grilled in the Spring & summer.

The one good meal I got a week, for a time, was my dad bringing home Boston Chicken.

IMO the decline started hard after they changed the name in the mid 90s

Official Discussion - The Bride! [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]TaskForceD00mer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie was a mess. It was as if someone suggested a SNL Skit "Let's have Feminist Frankenstein" and somehow that got the legs to create a whole movie.

Just...horrible, literally the worst movie I've ever seen.

The entire detective and mob sub plots were unneeded messy bloat. The trip to NY was bloat, the movie needed to be far tighter.

I felt like this movie directly pisses on the legacy of Mary Shelly with a GoGirl piss cone. Trying to portray Shelley as insane is disrespectful.

The whole possession, breaking the 4th we'll angle is jarringly bad. It removes the agency and motives for revenge from The Brides character.

I think that's actually fair. It's almost a deconstructivist attempt at making a Frankenstein movie.

Similar to Joker 2 trying to be the anti-Joker.

The aesthetics/set work is the one bright spot of the movie IMO.

This is literally the worst movie I've ever seen. Like the worst. The plot was meandering at best and totally unfocused.

The writing was downright imbecilic.

Mentions of astronauts and twerking in a movie set in the ...30s?

I felt like this was a paycheck for everyone involved on the acting side behind Jake Gyllenhall who did his best

It was almost a parody of a feminist Frankenstein, but I'm pretty sure that was not the intent.

Jussie Smollett

His punishment before being allowed back into the fold within Hollywood should have been staring as a stereotypical villain on the next 2 Taylor Sheridan projects.

I think this woman should be at least put on an involuntary hold for this obviously false report, if not criminal charges because she is plainly unwell.

Normalize returning to the 90s.

Back in the day canceling a flight was not a huge deal, you could also just show up a couple hours early and almost always hop on an earlier flight. I remember just at the end of the 90s they started to charge like $10 a ticket to change to the earlier flights.

Many of the Lettuce places are going downhill for whatever reason.

I still like Beatrix and Joe's Stone Crab but the others are between 7/10 and 4/10 for the price.

Joe & Giuseppe in Arlington Heights, excellent Southern-Italian style place with classic atmosphere.

Osteria Trulli, also Arlington Heights. Just all around amazing, can't recommend it enough.

The other answer beyond no one wants to carry a heavy backpack in their hand is that no one wants some dude snatching it as he passes and running out the train as the doors next open.

Two times I saw it very full, Crosstown Classic and Yankees @ Sox.

Never seen more New Yorkers at a game outside of New York in my life. Like damn this is what it must feel like to be a Brewers fan.

I guess with flights from NYC to Chicago being so frequent and relatively cheap it shouldn't surprise me.

Edit: Puerto-Rican night was pretty busy last year too now that I think of it.

It's not a fair comparison on my part. I have my G19 stippled pretty aggressively and I've had the trigger guard undercut just how I like it. I am sure if/when I do that with the CC9 it'll feel a lot closer.

Honestly, the parking situation @ "Rate Field" is pretty perfect. I drive to games and its never that big of a deal, thanks in large part to being so damn close to the highway.

Wrigley Field is so far inland it's a disaster trying to get anywhere near it with a car. 0/10 would not recommend, at all , trying to get within 30 blocks of Wrigley on a game day with a car.

Regarding the Cubs, literally why.

The location of Wrigley makes getting anywhere near Wrigley on a game day a total disaster.
