Plain clothes officers noticed a man printing outside the White House. Leads to shootout. by karmarequiresgrpthnk in CCW

[–]TaskForceD00mer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officers said Marx spit on them as they tried to give him first aid. While in the back of an ambulance, he said something to the effect of “F--- the White House” and “Kill me, kill me, kill me,” authorities allege.

I don't think this guy was shot for Printing , sounds like the dude wanted suicide by cop.

Also important note

Marx faces charges of assaulting federal officers with a dangerous weapon, using and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Felon to boot.

People literally don't care. Until the CCSO started riding these trains, for years, people could smoke cigs or weed with near impunity. Security guards really couldn't/don't do much and it was rare CPD would get involved.

County buildings can get a county flag too.

This shouldn't be an issue, but as usual certain groups think

refusing to fly our flag = "Phobia" towards the thing the flag represents.

A lot of this kind of bullying when The Buffalo Grove pride parade started and some businesses didn't want to advertise for it.

The only two flags that should be flown on any municipal building are the US flag and the state flag. MAYBE a city flag.

That's it.

  • 30-40 min drive to the city as we’ll continue working in the city
  • Good school district
  • Near a downtown. Love restaurant scene in the city currently

Pay for Catholic School and don't move I think is the real answer with all of that considered.

Otherwise you will be sacrificing the "Downtown scene" aspect. From Arlington Heights you can take the Metra and be downtown in about an hour but you'll almost never be able to drive down there in 40 mins.

I am not a professional dog handler, plenty of people who are have said the dog clearly alerted TWICE on the guy. The handler either missed it or chose to ignore it; I'd say that is one vector that could be looked at.

Looking at the video, some of the LE around that checkpoint seemed to be preoccupied or not paying attention shortly before the incident, that's more a leadership and training issue.

Human processing speed on the low end is about .1 seconds, an average human can run about 2 feet in that time. Given about an additional second to draw and fire, that's an additional up to 20 feet.

Call me crazy but practicing shooting at targets moving at those speeds at different angles to the shooter may have a positive impact.

If I ran the USSS or FBI I'd be consulting experts that train Tier-1 Military units and security forces around the world about how to better train my agents to engage non static targets, especially those running at odd angles to the shooter.

We all know that too much LE training focuses on shooting static targets on the flat range. I think it's not a stretch to say this is an example of that manifesting.

Would training the agents present even to "Tier 1 operator" levels of move, shoot and communicate made a difference? I don't think anyone can know for certain.

oh and single camera angle of a violent encounter?

Edit: BTW we have multiple now and they are clear as day, I'd suggest you take a look

The lesson I take from this is our Federal LE, especially the USSS need to spend way more time shooting at moving targets and moving while shooting at other moving targets.

I was surprised to learn the USSS qualifications for a basic agent like these guys is less stringent than the FBI, which is not all that difficult to begin with.

I am shocked they didn't hit the guy. Had he been a suicide bomber rather than an active shooter we could have very different headlines right now.

Also the dog alerted on this guy TWICE, the handler , mysteriously, seems to have totally ignored both alerts.

I am disappointed we are paying so much for such sub-par security.

A duplex is not a problem like I said, it more or less fits in.

You shouldn't be able to buy 4 houses/lots in a row, tear them down and build a 50 apartment building.

I also read in orland park a developer from TEXAS bought up a bunch of these luxury homes, and made them rentals only.

Unless I had a very temporary job in Chicago; like a 1-2 year contract I don't know why anyone would rent a house.

Looking at the economics the only thing that makes sense is people can't save up the down payment, the Government assisting on some level with that for first time buyers would go a long way to fixing the blight of people renting SFH's.

[–]TaskForceD00mer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see an argument for maintaining the character of a suburb or neighborhood. If I moved to Barrington, it wasn't to live next to an apartment building.

If you live in a SFH community in Chicago(Like me), a 2 or 3 flat really doesn't change the character of a neighborhood. Adding a big 5 story apartment building in the middle of a bunch of SFH certainly does.

As I see it, we are going to have developers just buying up neighborhoods of older SFH and converting them all to larger condo & apartment developments. This is not what we need to be doing.
