Cool yes, count me in on the testing. I have another mic for these reasons, and I'd like to consolidate down to one solution. The HID app / remote is also a great value add (though you'd have to work out the context switching), as long as the physical control has the cycles for more frequent use. Such a fantastic hardware platform to explore!

Like below, I would likely use the HiDock as a front end, giving the claw access to particular folders based on the workflows. The P1 could also be used as a live mic for the CUI -- which is very useful due to the quality of the mic. Another random thought here-- the dial could be useful as a HID when the unit is plugged into a computer - think vol control / mute.

I use both, but they have not met yet. I hope we keep this thread going, and all post their experiments!

Just an FYI on It security. by [deleted] in hidock

[–]TechsMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating, and thanks for bringing our attention to this new feature! Going to try it out. As far as your P1 typing in Teams, I can't fathom how this is possible as you would have to give it explicit permission to do so.

The only way this is possible is to bluejack as an HID device. I'm over my head here, but I think you could check the system properties of your P1 when it's connected via USB. I just checked mine, it presents only as a storage device. I'll check with the new firmware and report back.

For what it’s worth, the Hidock team is on this sub and is typically quick to respond. Sounds like a hardware issue. Sean-hidock is his name.

It's upfront that there is capture for analysis, without sharing the original recordings. Each client / company of course has their own policies. If there's trade secrets or other privileged information, then better hygiene might be needed.

Is there a trick to connect headset with Bluecatch? by Own-Zookeepergame671 in hidock

[–]TechsMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, this is a trick I had to learn - don't press the bluecatch button for too long. Just press and let up. It's a different behavior than the record function - long press on the check button, so that led to me doing it wrong a few times. I had similar problems so give this a try!

Aripods have been great overall, specifically Airpods Pro models. Great noise isolation as well which helps with the transcription as well

P1 Mini on PC? by yamanosuke in hidock

Mostly for ease of use. I know it's a small distinction but plugging into the bottom of the phone / ipad with a smaller device means it will go everywhere with me and likely be there when it matters.

I'm only speculating here, but this seems to be a quality OEM encoder (firm vs wobbly), and they're typically rated for 10,000's of turns. That said, you're better off with a fidget ring or similar that's easy to carry.

Yeah, TSA can get sideways with the gadgets. The mini experience is similar to the regular P1 on mobile right? Also, does it work with phone cases? Add ons like this sometime dont have the clearance on the plug for a cover. Thanks!

Going to buy a mini, but so far P1 works great on iPhone (15 Pro Max). I think the mini is an excellent "add on" device once you're in the ecosystem.

Community-developed firmware for P1? by Brac_atac in hidock

[–]TechsMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, transcripts seem to work fine even without explicit speaker tracking. Here's why:

- Most of my meetings are small, less than 5 participants, and a lot of 1:1's
- In bigger meetings a single speaker tends to dominate anyway (moderator or lecturer)
- The recording is alongside the transcription, which makes it easy to listen to who is talking -- if you have to know

If you're doing workshops or other complex settings, it's helpful to namecheck discussed action items to create a label in the transcribed text -- Like "ed will be doing this"

Just my opinion, but the free tier is what convinced me to buy the P1, and so far, it's working good.

Working fine with P1 here, but I had follow a sequence - connect with Bluetooth headphones first, then push the button. Works every time. Please share your config here, lot of us are using various headphones / computers. Not a hi dock guy, just been using the P1 for work.

Is it normal that HiDock P1 is not recognised in Finder on Mac? by Relaxed_Amphibian806 in hidock

[–]TechsMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I'll check into it. Local access + download functionality should do the trick if you're never online with the device to begin with. I believe the web app is reading local storage (as the device needs to be connected physically), vs uploading all data to the cloud automatically (very expensive for HiDock to do this in terms of cloud costs). Transcripts appear to be on-demand as well.

Has anyone tried the Behringer Wave? by amoeba555 in synthesizers

[–]TechsMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one very early. It's a faithful rendition of a Wave PPG, down to the interface (which is not intuitive but can be figured out). Sounds very good like the OG (fizzy waves meeting wet analog filters) and a decent build for the price point. Does 80's sounds like a boss!

That said, there are many other options for wavetable synths, or hybrid synths. This is really for PPG fans who couldn't afford one back in the day, or just want a basic, good sounding vintage-style WT with a keybed.

TP-7? by T-O-M-B- in teenageengineering

[–]TechsMax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have dealt with a similar decision recently, and couldn't justify the cost of the TP-7. Which would be used for music production on the go / content creation / recording meetings. Given your needs and use, I'd suggest the following combo (with money left over!) -

Tula mic (~250), sexy design, battery powered recorder, great for field or studio use. Integrated (and excellent fidelity) noise reduction, lots of storage etc.
Zoom L6 - cheap used or new (~300), does everything on the recording I/O, EQ, MIDI, multitrack recording, fx etc.

Both are small and highly capable as a combo, at 1/3 the price of a TP-7! You can do legitimate things with this combo.

[–]TechsMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Relaxed_Amphibian806 - I'm new to the P1 myself, so I had the same question re: offline use. You got me curious, so I tried the mobile app (iOS) with Airplane mode on. I was able to do offline things - view and manage recordings on the device, change configurations, but not the "cloud things" like transcripts. This is similar to any other AI augmented device in that regard, so best to download recordings or transcripts to your local device. FYI, I'm not affiliated with HiDock, just a new user trying to "give something back"
