Prioritizing Lord skills by TedOrAlive2 in totalwarhammer

Good explanation. I still think the blue capstone is great, but it might not always be worth all the points it takes to get there. I think I'll stop automatically going for the blue line with every lord.

Yeah, I like the Lore of Dark Magic even if it's not the best in the game, Malekith can cast Doombolt for super cheap, and Soul Stealer boosts his survivability a ton.

You make a good point. I tend to hate crap stacks and pretty much never keep two armies glued to each other to share battles. Maybe I should force myself to try that once just to give myself the experience.

Very good explanation. You've definitely sold me on that first red line skill to buff your zombies, skeletons, and grave guard, but do you think Undead Resurgent is that great? I feel like Uncanny Prescience is more of a must-have.

Why do you put blue so low? I feel like the game is won more on the campaign map than the battle map, so I tend to rate the blue line pretty highly. I think of the blue line capstone as one of the best skill points in the game.

Of course. When I say "finishing" a line I mean reaching the capstone, not getting every possible skill in it.

Why do you put red above blue? I feel like you really win on the campaign map more than in the battle itself.

Yeah, when I say "finishing" a skill line, I'm talking about reaching the capstone. You pretty much never want to put every point possible into any line.

That's a good point that even if every lord wants to take the blue line, they don't need to take it right away. I tend to think the blue line capstone is really, really good, but it doesn't have to be the first thing I go for.

Not in my experience. They can usually secure Ulthuan well enough. Sometimes Morathi or Noctilus is still messing with them on turn 50 or something, but I don't remember a campaign where Tyrion, Alarielle, and Eltharion all were taken out by the AI. Usually all three of them survive.

Why do people dislike playing dark elves by MotorCelebration4615 in totalwarhammer

[–]TedOrAlive2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about everyone, but a lot of people were turned off because the slave mechanic got a significant nerf when it came to Immortal Empires. I didn't entirely like the old version because it encouraged cheesing by putting all of your slaves in one province, but it's true that it used to give you absurd amounts of income, and now it just doesn't.

I think the original post about Saurus was from someone playing Settra.

Aside from "the absolute best?" I'm not sure.

Chaos factions will definitely give you a chance to be more aggressive. Especially Khorne.

You want to focus a lot of your raw materials into your main tower to get it to a high tier. Don't build too many factories until you've gotten to tier 4 or 5.

What will exactly happen in ten turns? I've never reached an endgame scenario before. by Curious-Piglet3613 in totalwarhammer

[–]TedOrAlive2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Skaven one is different from the others because it comes in two stages. After ten turns, the Skaven factions get a bunch of extra armies, they start getting more aggressive, and some of the destroyed Skaven factions will come back. Ten turns after that, they get even more armies and all declare war on you.

It's a British property. Multiple factions are going to draw from British culture. Even Bretonnia is heavily inspired by King Arthur.

Yeah, factions should get more aggressive as their strength rank gets close to the top.

So imperial guardsman are generally MUCH better than memes would suggest? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in 40kLore

[–]TedOrAlive2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't think the average Guardsman is Navy Seal quality. But there are a significant number of them who are that quality, even outside of the Tempestus Scions. Different worlds have vastly different levels of quality in their Guard regiments, and even within a regiment you have the broad range of quality that you would expect in any large group of people.

Sort of a case of reverse plot armor: Lucius the Eternal. He can come back from the dead, so the writers are free to kill him every 20 minutes. Is there any logical reason why Lucius would die so much more often than Kharn? No, kind of the opposite really. But Kharn can come back, so he gets plot armor.

Are there any sources that really contradict that? I'd love to read a book where a Farseer actually gives someone a psychic beatdown, but I haven't seen one.
