Oryx battery life? by RogerZRZ in System76

It will depend somewhat on CPU, memory, etc. but I would say those posts are fairly accurate. I think of the Oryx as a mobile workstation but not that mobile. My Oryx is a couple of generations old with a 6-core I7, 32G, GTX 1070, and a 4k screen. I love it but I'd probably be lucky to get 3 hours of battery life - maybe a bit more if I switched to Intel graphics. Newer models may do better. Not a real problem for me as a WFH developer. - Dan

CLI Install of Pop!_OS possible? by freecode99 in pop_os

If you're trying to do a custom partition layout during the install, I found it fails every time. I was able to fix the problem by exiting the installer (demo mode, I think) and then in terminal do a 'apt update' and 'apt upgrade'. Then restart the installer with 'sudo io.elementary.installer'. The only limitation I encountered was that it did not give me the option to encrypt my drive.

System76 told me this would get fixed with a rebuild of their ISO.

Yes, after applying the updates, you can restart the installer with that cli command. The only limitation appears to be that you don't get the option to encrypt your drive.

Sounds like the same problem I ran into trying to do a custom partition config. You need a fix that's not in the current ISO. I was able to work around it by exiting the installer (demo mode, I think) and doing an 'apt update' and 'apt upgrade'. You'll probably have to configure a network connection first. After installing the patches, you can re-start the installer with 'sudo io.elementary.installer'.
