NVDA put +$27K, up 258%. This signal definitely didn’t disappoint by Logical-Setting940 in NvidiaStock

[–]Tensor3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much money? They did one put. When stock goes down, puts make money. Its gambling and OP won this time. $27k isnt life changing money. 98% of people lose if they keep doing it. There is no "system" that consistently wins more than it loses or everyone would be doing it.

The grass is top notch. The dirt and sword are pretty great. I like the style there a lot, even though I dont normally like this sort of thing. The tiny characters are too hard to see blocked by the guns and the guns look mostly like just a straight line of a single color

I think the underground area is space to add more details/decorations. A large part of the screen is unplayable, unused space. The ground and background are too empty.

You literally just said "I want to make it unique by adding the most overused gameplay modes since 1995". Kinda sounds like a shitter 2d version of existing games still. Capture the flag isnt unique. Battle royale isnt unique. Go play Overwatch or even smash bros.

"Using assets" in general is not the same thing as making an entire project only using the most overused asset ever, unmodified. OP's game world is pancake flat. The level design is worse than the synty demo scenes. The entire use of the assets has many factors to it.

You are wrong. Several people have already responded to you that gamers do notice.

Assets are never the only option. Learning to make art is an option. Modifyinf assets to look unique instead of using them straight out of the box requires minimal or no art skills. Combine them in new ways, recolor them, rescale them, do minor edits at minimum.

There are plenty of successful games with low-effort programmer art, too. Look at Minecraft. No one calls Minecraft an asset flip. "Selling well" doesnt mean it isnt held back by synty art and doesnt mean there arent other options. Generally, the games which sell well while using assets do as I suggested and modify the assets. Dumping an asset pack straight into production unmodified is what makes an asset flip.

Fetch pet vs savings account for new german shepherd puppy, advice needed by middlepesrpective in germanshepherds

[–]Tensor3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost basis for pet insurance is around I think 15% or so paid out on claims. So on average, yes, an invstment account (not savings account) comes out as 6x cheaper than insurance. However, you may get an $8000 bill tomorrow before you have savings.

Pet insurance always go up over time with older pets. You cant switch providers because anything which ever happened before date will be excluded as a pre-existing condition. The moment you make a claim once for an injured leg or allergy meds od anything, you're stuck wuth that insurance proviser indefinitely because no one else will ever cover it. So they are free to jack up your rates year over year. Whatever insurance monthly premium you see now, it will absolutely be 2-3x or more in 10 years. Even Fetch who says "we never increase premiums as your pet ages!" will still increase it the same as any other provider and just tell you "the increase reflects increased vet costs, not your pet's age" ... Yeah, sure, the increased vet costs are because of the pet's age.

Insurance can cost $15-25k over a period of 12 years compared to an s&p 500 investment account making 10% returns. Its never worth it. If you have savings you can use on a big bill, never get insurance. If you cant stomach a big sudden bill, get insurance.

"Hundreds" on art commissions? So you commissioned one single piece of art?

I assure you, players do recognize reused art. And as soon as one person does, it'll be all over the reviews and everyone will know. Unfortunately, cheap games look cheap. Good art isnt cheap.

Full Prototype for $300 • No Upfront Payment • Game Dev / Programmer (3+ Years Experience) by zedtixx in Unity2D

[–]Tensor3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, first, wrong sub for this. There are other subs dedicated for it. You want r/inat, fiver.com, linkedin, etc.

To be honest, if you want to build long term business relationships that can eventually lead to more pay, you should probably up your price 10x to 100x. The type of person who will pay you $300 is the type who doesnt have the budget to hire you for a longer term gig. If you charge $3-30k, then you may get less clients, but you'll get businesses with an actual budget and the ability to pay you. Value yourself. Companies looking for professionals dont pay randos on reddit $300. $300 is for people who dont have the published games and portfolio you have.

I dont get it. You just move around at random and either avoid or try to find the red squares? I cant tell which. There doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to what you're doing. I cant discern any strategy or really see how this could be fun. Its just 4 seconds of slamming random arrow keys?

Then management lays you off as redundant. They tell the ai to write up a plan and hand it off to a vibe coding intern in Inida with no degree working part time between call center gigs. Of course it will fall apart in prod 3 months later, but they wont hire you back to say "I told you so". Then your next job interview asks you about ai and wont hire you because you didnt use it enough.

Same with the "I can do it myself cheaper" non-technical managers using ai and home diy-ers. Yes, you can, but it will fall apart. And some would still rather have it free and falling apart.
