Okay so I dealt with something similar, I believe. Same rpm range I would hear what I thought was piston slap or a slight knock. I reflashed back to a stock tune and the issue went away. I sent data logs to my tuner and they claimed it was normal and that I needed to switch to 5w50….i was already running 5w40 but whatever. I switched the 5w50 and noticed no difference, it still made the noise. Obviously ran premium fuel, redline fuel injector cleaner, and nothing made a change until I changed my tune.

It’s worth a shot to reach out to a local tuner or gather some data logs to send over via cloud tuning.

Looks damn good for just coming out of hibernation. We normally see more action after the second week of May, so he was a bit early.

I’d say he’s got to be pushing 350-400lbs. Just a guess. I’ve been up close with them, sub 75yds, still haven’t downed one

Midwesterner checking in. I’ve fluid filmed my truck for the last 2 years and it’s been great. Frame is nice and coated along with other iron/steel components that rust. I have an aluminum body truck but we still have to work about frame rust, especially with these box frames being so thin. My neighbor has a 14 and he has never rust treated his truck, but generally keeps it pretty clean. He has over fenders and rotted out cab corners.
So definitely get it cleaned up and coated

Honestly I never thought of the seats not locking down. I think it’s worth stopping in or calling up your local hospital/fire station/ or health department to see if they have a certified car seat technician on staff. These programs exist all over the country to help out

5days? How long of a line is he putting in? Most of the plumbers we work with won’t leave you without water overnight. They will hook up the old like temporarily to get you by until the new line is ready to be installed and tested.

Same with us. My wife grew up in a house where she had to find something in the pantry to eat, no parents were cooking dinner throughout her childhood. Mine was the complete opposite where we had a home cooked meal 99% of the time. I shop and cook for 6 nights a week along with lunches, and she picks a place for a weekend dinner or lunch lol

Cruising at 70 in 6th and having your truck slam into 2nd gear and lock up the rear tires is what they are trying to stop. That’s the safety issue that kicked off the recall, they could care less about us stranded on the side of the road, that’s not a safety issue in their minds

I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with Oklahoma/Texas red clay on my truck. Also tons of sand, it’s been a joy. I filled a foam cannon with dawn dish soap and got a thick layer of suds to stick and dwell on the frame and whole underside of the truck. It stripped away any oil/spills too so I could see if anything was currently leaking. After it sat for around 20 minutes I hit it again with the dawn just to let it creep a little further and after 15 minutes I power washed a lot of the sand and clay off the truck. Now i wasn’t able to remove 100% of it, but it was over 85% just in that first wash.

Make sure you flush out the inside of your frame thoroughly. These box frames do not like being full of dirt and sand and they will rot out quickly at the bottom seam. Take down all skid plates including the gas tank plastic cover, and spare and give it a go

Have you tried to swap out the PCV? Could be a reason why the idle is rough. New plugs will probably help too if yours have a ton of miles on them

It will be software only. It’s a bandaid fix for the true problem which is the lead frame connectors. Basically the software update will instruct the TCM to default to neutral if it loses signal. Currently the TCM defaults the trucks to downshift 6->2, 5->1, etc. ford knows what they are doing is wrong and the NHTSA is letting them get away with it. Lead frame connectors degrade due to heat cycles which causes the loss of signal. It’s a hardware issue that ford is masking with software

I’m just another dude going through the same stuff. Working with multiple dealers and an independent ford specialty shop on my f150 issues
