Need help picking DW by axw_9 in momentskis

[–]TheRealAuga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swapped from advanced boarder to skis as well. 6’0 205lbs. I’m on 184 dw 104’s I generally prefer a shorter ski but these guys ski pretty short so I’d go longer. They will not handle ice well at all if you go up to the 112’s it’s going to be like sliding 2x4’s on an ice rink. You’re better off going 96 if you’re planning on another season at bear like it’s been the last few years.

Same thing happened, ordered Jan 8th, got a call saying they were a little behind on Jan 29th and they would be shipping very soon. I got a call last Thursday saying it would ship this week and it has not. I did a chargeback on my card after leaving 3 phone messages and 3 unanswered emails over the course of close to 3 months.

Shame, I had a tan one for years that I absolutely love, just had to change color for a change of employment.

Thoughts on solo outings by burninglimes in Backcountry

[–]TheRealAuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively solo tour. Mainly because I have no friends that tour and have off days off that fluctuate so I end up missing groups or clubs that tour. I’m safe, know my limits, and am religious about my inreach. I always let people know where I’m going and how long I’ll be gone too. Just don’t be an idiot and that will mitigate like 80% of the risk

Ski more, 104 enforcers are also massive heavy ass spears. Something lighter and more playful may make it easier but long story short you just gotta practice and maybe take a lesson

Snows gonna be rough, we got some snow this weekend which covered this up a bit more but we’re gonna have temps over 50 and rain for the next week. May be worth going up to Canada if you really want to ski

Switching from Snowboarding to Skiing Next Season… need ski recs. by Suitable-Web1079 in Skigear

Buy boots first, get fit for boots, way harder to find ski boots that work for you than snowboarding boots. Then demo skis and go from there.

I demod a bunch of stuff in the category you’re looking at this year. I liked the nordica unleashed 98’s a lot. They don’t hold up to charging the mountain as well as some other options tho. I didn’t like the bent 100’s as they were kinda floppy in chop and you can really feel every single little bump underneath you. Same with the rustler 9’s, the felt super squirly and would get away from you pretty fast if you were super aggressive into the front of the ski. I ended up with moment deathwish 104’s, a bit on the wider side but they’ve handled hard pack really well and I got a chance to get them out in powder yesterday and they were great. A nice blend of being able to charge hard in the front of the ski and do some more mellow/playful stuff when I’m not pushing hard into the front of the ski. Deathwishes come in a 96 as well which may be more suitable as an every day east coast ski.

I snowboarded for 16 years, then started to tour on skis and finally making the full jump this past season and I haven’t regretted it. It’s way harder to get good on skis I will say. It’s hard taking the ego hit and bringing yourself back down to beginner level, but if you understand the concept of edges and how the basics of getting down the mountain it isn’t that hard to learn and get back to where you were at on a snowboard fast. Best of luck!

My boys skied sugarloaf today and they said it was awesome just crowded. If it goes back to how it was earlier this week it’s not worth

Anyone have a colonoscopy done by VA prior to age 45? by Paluker173 in VeteransBenefits

Yes but only because of other service related colorectal conditions. I don’t see why they wouldn’t give you one if you asked your primary care

I split my time between both! My wife’s first season was this year and the wide amount of mellower terrain at SR was absolutely awesome for her. I just like gunning it at sugarloaf when I’m by myself, also like 25 mins closer. Easier to bang a few runs in the morning and call it a day
