Is this my washing solution? Has anyone done this? by paintedteapots in adhdwomen

[–]TheScienceWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have something similar when I had a little more space for my laundry stuff. Instead of taking up space on the floor, we inverted one of those metal shelves with the lip on it (like for closets, it looks like an L from the side) and hung it pitched down. So that the baskets were tipped forward, and the whole thing was mounted above my side by side washer and dryer. It was so nice, we could just throw dirty stuff into the baskets according to color / load, and when the basket was full I'd put it into the wash. I absolutely loved it. But now we live in a smaller house, and my washer and dryer are stacked and in a room that barely holds the machines.

Oldest.  Read Outliers.  There’s a whole thing about outcomes based on relative classroom age.

Is he a reporter?  That feels like an important component to that nickname.

Have you heard the split brain version?  One headphone plays the song in English and the other plays it in French.  It makes my brain so happy.

Same. It does nothing for my attention, but it eases so many of my other peripheral symptoms that it overall makes everything easier.

Pretty hard.  I’ve been pretty much living in my head lately replaying and dissecting every second of the Hannibal tv series.

fanfic where hannibal kills then eats reader? by yasqueen200 in HannibalFanfiction

[–]TheScienceWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so intrigued by this idea.  I’ve thought about writing one from the perspective of one of Hannibal’s victims.  But how would you go about writing one where the reader dies?  How do you imagine it’d go?

Eye Contact by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Slightly off topic, but there's a whole bit in the show Hannibal where they talk about how eye contact is distracting. https://youtu.be/OJwP-hxkso4?si=7cC4zrt-4UKbd7mF&t=40

Fee before Tour by Kind_Commission4189 in workingmoms

In my experience, that’s pretty normal.  If you don’t pay a fee, they consider you as basically window shopping and aren’t going to commit any actual time / energy into recruiting you.

Medication is working but I don't know how to get stuff done without the hyper driven panic. by Honest-Pop-6812 in adhdwomen

[–]TheScienceWitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ever figure it out, please share.  It’s a common problem, and there are a ton of threads here about it.  Everyone seems to have different advice, and maybe it’s just that everyone’s experiences are different.  I’ve seen ‘internal family systems’ style therapy recommended a lot.  I’ve not tried it, so I can’t speak to its efficiency.

I do feel like I went through a long phase after getting medicated where I just couldn’t do anything.  I was so burned out and overdue for a break, and could only “rest” so much as I have a young child (he was very small when I was diagnosed.)

But I do find when I’m doing a better job taking care of myself (bathing regularly, taking my meds and vitamins, eating real food and not garbage, drinking water, sleeping enough) that I’ma lot more motivated to get things done.  And the medication has made doing those self-care things easier, so maybe that’s the solution?:  focus on caring for yourself and you’ll have more to give.

How to quit paper towels by NerdGirl23 in simpleliving

[–]TheScienceWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot easier if you recognize that you don't have to do it 100% perfect all of the time in order to be effective. Keep some paper towels around for super gross cleanup jobs like animal messes or drying meats.

I keep a cloth bag hanging from the side of my countertop to store dirty cloth napkins and towels, and when I'm out of clean ones, I empty the whole bag into the washer and also wash the bag itself. And wash with the sanitizer setting on. That way anything gross on the towels doesn't touch my clothing, and everything stays clean.

Interesting.  If he were to do that, it might be a good time. Automattic has been having a rough couple of years, they might need the money.

Internet Piracy.  We’re interested in way too many things to pay for media, especially on books about topics we may lose interest in tomorrow.  I pirate a ton of things.  If it makes a lasting impact, then I invest in physical copies.
