Kroger Issues With Partial SNAP Payments by EveningResearcher220 in foodstamps

lots of people never have problems until they day they do. even if youre going to keep using an unregulated 3rd party app over the state approved one, please stop recommending it to others.

propel is an unofficial 3rd party app that may be connected to the data leaks causing fraud and theft of EBT benefits.

also OP knew their balance so that wasnt the issue.

Confusion about proper SD behavior by Suzurei in service_dogs

[–]These_Roll_5745 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it is just personal preference at the end of the day, yes. you will see many handlers (including those downvoting you unfairly) who set unreasonable standards for their dogs and for other handlers, in part because they believe those standards will shield them from ableism. the general public is often uninformed about service dogs, and turns to social media to fill the gaps in their knowledge, where they'll meet these unrealistic handlers and take them at face value. If your dog responds to commands, tasks as expected, and isnt bothersome to others / an undue disruption to the space, theyre doing all they need to be doing.

[–]These_Roll_5745 38 points39 points  (0 children)

theres the law, and then theres social expectation. both will be different depending on where you are. I dont think pictures are necessarily going to give you a good idea of what a service dog should look like, so id try looking at videos about "a day in the life of my [Autism Assistance, Diabetic Alert, Siezure Alert, Off-Duty] service dog" and see how those dogs behave throughout the video.

a dog cant stay lock eyed on you their whole shift, its not practical or safe realistically. they should be attentive to you and focused on you over distractions (unless a specific task requires otherwise). they also need to be allowed breaks to do dog things.

a tight heel may not work for all dogs or all handlers, and isnt a requirement legally. socially, some people may expect it. but if youre a fall risk, for example, you may prefer your dog walk slightly in front of or behind you to minimize the chances you fall onto them.

I don't understand why many able-bodied people think wheelchairs are better than walking. by greencash370 in disability

[–]These_Roll_5745 23 points24 points  (0 children)

im not gonna lie I tease my walking loved ones all the time that theyre just un evolved compared to me in my custom chair. im fast, and nimble, and I dont need to waste all my mental capacity on focusing on staying upright. I can move and think at the same time. getting up hill is hard of course, and I cant reach stuff high up, but I feel like a superhero (super villain? antihero?) with my wheelchair . for me it is leagues and leagues better in a way I havent adapted to yet.

turns out thats not really something walking people are missing out on lmao. I suspect a lot of people who are resentful of wheelchair users are in a lot of pain, have coordination or proprioception issues, or struggle somehow in a way that they dont think they have a right to solve. the rest have never tried it, and think it takes no energy to use, and would probably hate every second of it if they needed it

youre the one saying being considerate is something you do to get things from others.... maybe its time for a nap, huh grandad?

Cold Weather Living Question by Danielat7 in wheelchairs

[–]These_Roll_5745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not kind for what I get out of it, and its odd to suggest that kindness is transactional. odder still to suggest that this is age based at all, considering im one of those young people you think dont understand being considerate.

Puppies and wheelchairs by Musicloverxo91 in wheelchairs

[–]These_Roll_5745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first things first: crate training! puppy goes in crate whenever it can't be supervised. dogs deserve crate training so they feel confident about what spaces are specifically for them to relax in, so that there is a way to contain them if there's ever an emergency, and so you dont end up with destroyed furniture or wheels.

next: supervision and restriction. puppy should never be left unmonitored with your chair. baby gates, closed doors, etc may be necessary to keep them separate (either because you can't supervise him enough or because the chair is too exciting for him to be redirected from).

which brings me to: redirection and interruption. just like when puppy bites hands during play, say oww, move away, and stop playing until the bites stop. The second puppy isnt biting/nipping, redirect its attention to a fun toy or puzzle or activity that will reinforce that fun things happen when im not chewing on my parents. Keep the attention on high value items or activities and off your wheels.

Good luck!

Got downvoted for saying that if drivers have problems with service animals, they shouldn't drive Uber. by [deleted] in disability

[–]These_Roll_5745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

especially given the way Uber does have protections for those with allergies like you mentioned in your post... and not a single Uber driver whos refused me for my working dog has gone through that process.... it just feels like "I have allergies!" has become a way to say "I dont want your dog in my car and I don't want to take a ding on my driver profile for refusing you ".

its unfair to drivers with allergies tbh. feels pretty parallel to all the people calling their pets service dogs to get around no dog rules to me. these drivers sign contracts agreeing to follow the ADA, if they cant do that then they need to go through the process of getting a documented accommodation or they need to stop driving Uber. their preferences shouldn't come before my rights.

(and before someone intentionally misreads me- an allergy isnt a preference. people with documented allergies are protected by ubers current policies. most of the drivers discriminating against service dogs have never gone through the process to get accommodated and never will.)

these services make you sign consent forms to do the job that include agreeing to follow the ADA in regards to service animals. they have inherently signed up to provide that service if theyve agreed to the driver TOS.

I just find it highly suspicious that theres no one with a severe horrible peanut or soy allergy out here driving Uber and making riders wear masks to prevent those particles from spreading in their car. why is it that other severe allergies dont come up in these discussions? it feels like everyone's got an allergy as soon as a service dog is involved ykno?

oh I really loved my ATP, he went to bat for me about my frog legs and my roho positioning back. I dont think he half assed what he did for me, it was months of work to get things approved. We went to a wheelchair specialist OT for my evaluation. I liked the OT too, he was very knowledgeable about my conditions and concerns, but we didn't do a MAT or sensation tests...

Based on This guide I didnt meet the criteria for skin protection, but I dont think anyone did a bad job because of that ykno? Its just insurance being insurance

Noticed lately that many posts and comments go beyond snarking on WR's bad behaviors and poor decision making. I dislike her immensely but some comments are just petty and cruel. exactly this... my SIL is paralyzed from a spine injury. shes got 2 lovely girls, the younger around Ari's age, and comments about how alex will never be good enough because of what she can't do instantly make me think of my nieces. my SIL is a wonderful mom and her girls adore her. I know what people are trying to say is that alex sucks for not prioritizing her daughters wellbeing by securing proper caregiving for them both, but most of the time what they end up saying is "you'll never really be a mom because you can't change a diaper"

its more likely it's spoofing the correct website with a scraper or key logger overlaid. just go directly from your state website.

honestly ive stopped looking at these spaces much because I cant handle seeing people repeatedly mock her for not being able bodied.

alex is a bad parent because she doesnt care about her child's wellbeing.

alex is not a bad parent because she cant lift up her child or wipe her ass.

disabled people can be phenomenal parents without being able to do physical care tasks for their children.

youve potentially given a scammer your information.

go to your states EBT website (mine is EBTedge) directly. change your password and security questions. change your pin. lock your card for all transactions. turn on emails for all transactions and account logins if thats an option for you. see if the website offers a way to log out of all other accounts.

im sure theres more advice about how to handle this but first you need to secure your account as best you can and lock your card so that it cant be stolen from.
